Late Summer Stay

Loved that this is one of the few homes available for rent in McCall with air conditioning ...it was a great late summer week, love that it's within walking distance to the beach and downtown and right next to the golf course...great get away for tje family.

We were promised garage access, but not provided the code to the lockbox and had to call guest services. We were without hot water. The thermostat on the water heater was broken, and the plumber had to be called. Internet nonexistent.

Annual Aug Weekend in McCall

We have stayed in McCall every year on the 3rd weekend of Aug for about 25 years. And have stayed in these units before. This unit had a few issues - the shower head in the Master does not really work it needs to be cleaned out or replaced. There is a trundle bed but it can't be pulled out. No code to access the Garage was provided even though we were directed to park in the garage. The garbage disposal sounded like it was broken but my son an electrician could tell it worked correctly - so spent about 10 minutes figuring out the issue as he could see that there was something flying around in it and found the DIME that appeared to have been in there for a long time only about 1/2 of it was left the disposal had ground away most of it - we left it on the counter. Clearly the cleaning staff never checked the disposal. There are coffee cups with chipped rims and kitchen utensils that have been melted. The unit just felt a bit unloved, as aloth of thins did not match.

Zero checkin instructions. Dirty uncleaned unit. No sheets on beds and no towels in bathrooms

Cons: All of the beds in the three bedrooms did not have sheets on them. There was a huge pile of dirty sheets in the hallway on the second floor. Each bedroom had a pile of throw blankets and pillows on the floor. Dishwasher was full of dirty dishes. Trash was not emptied. House did not appear to be cleaned prior to our arrival. Host did not send any checkin instructions, luckily the front door was unlocked and we were able to get in. Zero communication with host after messaging them about the issues above. Still zero communication with host. Not worth the hefty price to stay at this unit and will not return. Pros: Close to downtown McCall, about a five minute drive. Half hour drive to Brundage Ski Resort. Heat worked. Hot water functioned. Garage for waxing skis or storing a vehicle.

Comfortable and clean

The property was well kept. Close in proximity to the Lake and downtown. The property was in a quiet residential neighborhood and the Ponderosa State Park was less than a mile away. The kitchen had very few items for use in the house for cooking or accommodating a group of 8, but it provided enough for us to get by for the 2 nights we stayed. The beds were comfortable, the seating in the house was comfortable and cozy for our family. Definitely had a great stay!

So much potential, so many issues

Pros: - Great location - Layout was good - Living room/kitchen were nice and comfortable Cons: - Beds were terrible. Hard and you could kind of feel the springs even with the egg crate foam toppers on them. On the master, the egg crate foam topper was in multiple pieces and there was a gap in the center. Also, the bed definitely tilted towards the middle. Not a great sleeping experience. - What appeared to be blood spatters on the master bathroom wall near the towel ring. Not like "someone got murdered here" spatters but several (6+) spots. - Bake feature on oven does not work. Broil does, but not bake. Ever tried to bake a pizza with heat cycling the broil feature? Yeah. - Dryer makes a hideous squealing sound. Belt and/or motor needs replaced - Master shower head is terrible. No way to get more than 30% of the water on you at one time. Maybe just needs a good cleaning to remove hard water deposits, or maybe needs replaced. - Top hook on the ladder to the bunk bed is broken. Dangerous for a kid to climb up - Master bedroom nightstand had a layer of dust. Also dust bunnies on the ceiling above the fan - Two frozen gallon bags of something in the freezer. Ice maybe? Dunno. We didn't touch them - Two broken slats on the vertical blind in the living room. Minor annoyance considering everything else - Security on the front door is questionable. Glass panes right next to the locks, easy for a smash-and-grab if someone were so inclined. Granted, McCall is pretty safe, but still a concern This place has so much potential, but needs a lot of things fixed. The location and layout are great, but the cleanliness issues and the quality of the beds (and dryer and oven) were definitely not up to standards. If you can find another place, we would recommend going there.

July 4 get together

Had a wonderful time July 1 - July 6. Spent days at beaches swimming and paddle boarding. Highlight was 9:00 dinner on lakefront patio of Mediterranean/Italian restaurant where we watched the fireworks that were sent from a barge that was anchored in the lake. Outstanding! Disappointment was the oven that would not work. Pots and pans, as mentioned in other reviews need to be updated and bed pillows should be replaced.

Great place, a few small things would have made it perfect

Great clean rental for our family of 4. A few things could be altered to make this place close to perfect. The cookware was a hodgepodge of sizes and shapes making it difficult to cook a full meal. A new and complete set of pots and pans would be great. The TV in the living room was definitely old as its color was off - I believe its a projector TV - could use a new smart tv for sure. The TVs were also missing a Roku or Firestick so you had no entertainment besides the minimal cable channels. Finally, while the beds were plenty, the mattresses were not very comfortable. In light of these few suggestions we still greatly enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again!

Large, comfortable condo

Clean, nicely furnished townhouse with a cabin-like feel. Check-in and checkout easy. Only downside was absolutely NO salt or pepper in the cupboards.

(Returning Guest) - some deferred inventory maintenance

We stayed here two years ago and loved it, it was well appointed and a perfect stay. Unfortunately, things have changed and not for the better. This home seems to have some serious deferred inventory maintenance, which the property company should address immediately so the owners can keep having a profitable rental. We booked with 8 guests, there were only 7 towels on site and 9 forks. That meant we needed to wash dishes every meal, but there was NO scrub brush or anything to scrub dishes with and not enough dishwasher pods for for the week we stayed. This would be funny (9 forks, for 8 guests with little means of washing provided), except we paid almost $2,000 to stay here for 7 nights! Which seems ridiculous given that some things were so undersupplied it was a serious nuisance. The pots and pans in the kitchen were also scattered all over in random cupboards and there was a lot less equipment than the previous time we stayed. The master bedroom bed is uncomfortable with a comforter that slides to one side of the duvet. Overall, for just around $100 this place could be outfitted and become a much better stay again if a little attention was given to upkeep. As it is, we may not risk it again which is disappointing since we loved it so much the first time. I will say this is an excellently located rental and McCall is a gem regardless.

4th of July Vacation

We recently stayed with another family at this property. We liked that it was close to the main downtown area but still pulled back enough off the road to not have a ton of traffic. The property was clean upon arrival. Very comfortable for the 8 of us that were there. I’d recommend it for that size group and down.

The Place is Great! Vacasa is not!

The property itself is great! Fantastic location. Had everything we needed for a nice stay. This was our first and last time booking with Vacasa. Their customer service is beyond lacking. I understand they are being impacted by the pandemic but so is the rest of the world. And honestly if you can’t operate than you should not. I couldn’t ever get ahold of customer service. We had two issues with the property and for one I never heard anything back. Not a call or email. The other problem it took 8 hours to resolve. Once I received a call back she said we have other pressing items so we will come when we can. It was disappointing. If we book this property again we will not be going through Vacasa. Absolutely the worst.

No air conditioning

Luckily the weekend wasn’t too hot however the first two nights we were there the upstairs was over 80 degrees. Maintenance came out to look at the air conditioning but couldn’t do anything about it. They had to call and HVAC company. Otherwise the location was nice, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of seating options for dining and in the living room.
