Had a great 5 week stay in DBS. The house was even better than the listing pictures. Many new updates including an updated external facade. The owner was great to work with.

Amazing beach house birthday week!

It was AWESOME SAUCE! Peaceful and pretty😊 3 minute walk to the beach and large backyard. Shark is always available and so welcoming! We will definitely be back!

Excellent location

We could not ask for a better location; unfortunately there were a few issues however the owner was quick to fix! The house needs some cleaning and upgrades especially in spare beds (very uncomfortable for adult sized people) and previous renters had pet smells; my suggestions to the owner were listened to and will hopefully be rectified (stained carpet to be replaced) overall cleanliness and smells to be taken care of too! Thanks again for the great location!

Nice place. Super close to Beach.

I wanted to give it five stars as there is a lot to like. I know why there were many five stars. Lots of room, nice new addition above garage perfect for kids, but know it is "camp- bunk room style". Addition also created a tv/game room area. Nice backyard, super close to beach, quiet neighborhood (but liquor store on corner a few doors down did have a few people hanging out late one evening that made me a bit cautious). Did not meet owner, but he was super responsive and no problem checking in and out. That said, while a lot of updates have been made it is a work in progress and some little things do add up. Only one small frying pan and kitchen items could use an update; no dishwasher detergent available. Bathrooms need updating and while there was two small tubs there was no way to take a bath. Also only had one and a fraction roll of toilet paper in bathroom which did not last (cheap roll of toilet paper - like what I bought the night before leaving). Beds were okay, but also not the best of our three places we stayed on this trip. I also like privacy with my family and the place could use a few more blinds. As mentioned owner was super responsive and I am sure he takes comments both positive and negative and acts. Do note that while it is dog friendly and our pup loved the backyard the beaches are not dog friendly at any time of the year. Safe travels. Four to 4.5 stars.

Great escape from the snow and cold!

We stayed at Sharks house for almost 2 months. Upon arrival the check-in was easy and the house was exactly as pictured if not better. Our Shih Tzu loved the enclosed backyard as well as the front porch sitting area. We loved the house, the bed, and the close proximity to the beach, places to shop, eat, have cocktails and the neighborhood was peaceful and very safe feeling. Shark was very responsive to the few requests we had.. The heat ( yes we needed it the first few nights of our stay) and a/c worked great ! We loved going to Daytona Beach daily to drive on and enjoy the ocean and sunshine. The non-reident YEARLY pass was only $100.oo vs $20.00 a day! We are planning to go back again!

Great location and comfortable home

The house was perfect for our small Christmas Eve family gathering. The main living area/kitchen was just what we needed. The house was clean, the bed and living room furniture was comfortable, and the kitchen has all the basics you need. The owner lives nearby and was super nice. The only negative about the property was the the broken fence panels and the gate that did not have a latch. We propped a couple of panels up before letting our dogs roam around the yard. Overall, the house was clean and comfortable. The proximity to the beach was nice. We have already recommended it to our other family members who visit the area as well.

Dirty and Disappointing

My family and I stayed at the house from 12/26/2021 - 12/29/2021. While the location was perfect for us, there were a lot of items that were disturbing and made our stay uncomfortable. We would have moved to a different location, but there were no vacancies at nearby hotels, and I had already spent hundreds to stay at the house. We appreciate nostalgic decor but not dirty. I will also state, I read the reviews before booking and they were all 4-5 stars. However, recent reviews also support our items below. To note, I sent a detailed email to the owner along with pictures. (1) Mildew - The smell and moisture when you walk into the home, is overwhelming. We had to air out the home for the first couple hours and that helped only a little. There was a large build-up of mildew behind the unit on the deck. In an attempt to uncover the cause of the mildew smell, I discovered a cinnamon broom tied to the HVAC unit in an interior closet. Fire hazard and indicates the owner is aware of smell. (2) Rust - It appeared that all items that could rust...were rusted. Rust on screws on switch and outlet plates, light fixtures, door handles, shower rods, shower handles, mirrors in bathrooms, etc. (3) Paint Peeling - There were numerous spots throughout the house, in which the paint was peeling in a significant manner. For example, front bedroom ceiling and bathroom door trims. Also, the soap holders in the showers had paint peeling. Along the same lines, there were numerous cracks in the ceilings. (4) Blinds - the front bedroom blinds were broken. And the curtains where sheer panels that covered 60% of the window at best. The window in the bathroom (albeit it is distorted glass) doesn't have any coverings for privacy. The huge patio door does not have any coverings or a manner of privacy. (5) Beds - They are very small in length, extremely hard and noisy. They too smelled of mildew. (6) Dust Build-Up - This was in the bathroom fan vents, the HVAC unit door (so much so that it was actually creeping through the vent in the door), and behind/below beds. This with the combination of mildew, made the house uncomfortable/dirty. (7) Addition to House - It felt and appeared to be unsafe. The kitchen window was blocked by the new wall. And the loft area doesn't have working electricity. (8) Security - Many windows either had missing locks, broken locks or rusted locks. Locks on exterior doors were loose. Overall, we did not feel secure in the house.

MOLD!!!!!

We have rented in this area many times. First time trying this property. Would have been fine, but as soon as you open the door you are hit with mold smell. Not a hint, but full on step back MOLD. We stayed as nothing was available during the Turkey Rod Run. Every piece of our clothing will need to be laundered. The owner lives next door and this is not something that just happened. Furniture reeks. HVAC is the lilkey source. Much worse when you use. Candles from previous renters everywhere. BEWARE.

Biketoberfest 2021

Great location! Breakfast place within walking distance, beach basically one road over. Plenty of beach supplies for all ages! House has more rooms than on listing. Which was great! Side patio was a great spot to hang out and where we spent most of our time. Only wished the had a double concrete driveway for more parking like the owners driveway next door. There is so much yard that it could be done with tons of yard left. So, if you can grab this place. We would def. stay at this house again! Hopefully soon!!! Thank you to the owners for all you help!

Wonderful house!

Shark was amazing! The house is so much better than the pictures. He has everything you need for the beach…including coolers! The outdoor sitting area was adorable with plenty of comfy chairs and bistro lights. Also, it was in a really good location.

Perfect location

This property was perfect for our family and pup. Situated so close to the beach and many other activities and amenities. The owner Shark was quick to respond to our needs. The property was spacious Ave clean with a large fenced back yard. Would definitely stay here again!

Best house ever!!

Upon arrival, we discovered more beds than we initially thought, which was a total bonus for us! Owner was incredibly nice and answered any questions we had almost immediately! The house was absolutely perfect for our family and we cannot wait to try to rent this house again next summer!!!

Older home, well appointed, one block from Beach. Shark had alll the beach stuff anyone would need. Outside patio eating area. Backyard fenced and housed our dog very well. Hope we will be able to go there every year.

The place is fantastic and was exactly what we were liking for. The location is excellent. The house is in a quiet neighborhood but so close to the beach too! We enjoyed having the bicycles available as well. I Highly recommend this property.

Fantastic stay

Loved this house and plan to come back. The upstairs beds were perfect for my 16yo and his friends. This quickly became the place all our friends wanted to hang at instead of their beach front hotels/pools. We played corn hole, used the fire pit, had a cookout. The dogs ran and ran in the huge backyard. Was convenient to the beach by walking. Loved the bicycles. Was so relaxing for family and friends to catch up and forget that COVID ever happened (almost). Thank you Shark!

I believe this was our 5th visit at Sharks house. The house was perfect... six adults fit perfectly. Shark is such a pleasure to book with, the communication is awesome. I look forward to staying here again!

Healthy dose of relaxing beach paradise

It was our first time renting & I can see why the dates fill up so quickly. We loved it from the second we drove up & walked in. My children had to do school while we were there & there was a place for everyone to spread out and still feel connected to the family. We love the renovations & love the solid original Florida home feel. We are close to restaurants, grocery stores, the beach (we LOVE the beach & saved some jellyfish while we were there). We even had a cat visitor named Grayson who spent time with us every other day. The pictures of the house are lovely yet the house itself is off the charts amazing. You can even take daily walks because there are side walks surrounding the neighborhood. Everything at Daytona is so dog friendly which we loved. We came on a trip to visit ERAU & find places where family members lived generations ago. We donated a few things to the house & left fresh flowers to set the tone for those coming in after us. The backyard is amazing & we spent a lot of time there playing games, reading books from the house collection, eating & napping. Be sure to read the comment book on the coffee table for ideas (get up for a few sunrises & make time for the sunsets too). Next time we want to go on an airboat ride. We loved the lighthouse tour & horseback riding at Shenandoah Stables. Be sure to pack your own beach towels and the garage has beach toys, a wagon, chairs and a nylon blanket to sit on while at the beach. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the house was clean to my high standards. :-) You will make wonderful memories here & want to come back again & soon. We miss it already. Have fun.
