Beautiful home, not well maintained

The good: beautiful property, excellent location, very spacious for a large group. Private beach access across the street, plenty of parking, decorated nicelyThe bad: cleanliness was subpar, many things broken down/not well maintained- They only hire two ladies to come clean the massive house, which is a lot of work to turn so many rooms and laundry over in a short time. - Check in is at 1, but we were told they needed more time to clean and they didn’t finish until 2 hours after that. (We were told the prior guests left 2 hours later than check out)-Every cabinet, drawer and closet is filled to the brim with junk, leftover food, clothes, even underwear etc. -the garage REEKED with hoards of junk covering the floor and trash barrels filled with trash left inside the hot garage. The smell seeped into the house. - we were told we had to take the trash bins out for trash day that were filled with PRIOR GUESTS TRASH. I understand if it was just our own but it was a weeks worth of trash from prior guests. - told one shower was not working and we couldn’t use it- stove has problems where the gas doesn’t shut off - refrigerator was leaking water onto the floor. - we did call the owner with the gas issue and water issue and he was responsive at 9pm. He offered to have someone come look at it the next day, we figured out the gas on our own because it would be very dangerous to leak all night into the next day.

Big New House in Good Location - Too Bad its Not Clean

I have listed a vacation home on VRBO, so I understand the standards of how a home should be presented. This rental has a lot of potential. Here are the positives it is a nice, big, new house close to the beach in a nice location. The owner was very responsive when the AC and the water in the master shower were not working. However, the house was dirty. The bathrooms all had hair on the floors, dirt, mirrors obviously not clean, toothpaste, in the sinks. There is not one proper towel rack in any bathroom and one bathroom does not have a mirror. There are no bath mats, the bath towels were hidden in a closet, not enough for my family and very old. We went out and bought towels. The water in the MBR shower did not work, as mentioned the owner came and fixed that. There was one bathroom with a flickering light that could not be fixed. Several of the beds were not made and required searching for sheets and trial and error to find ones that fit. I rewashed the sheets as I was not confident that the sheets were clean. The bedside tables in the MBR had months of dirt and pollen on them. The stove and appliances were all dirty - left over eggs and grease on the griddle, dirty fridge, the ice maker and freezer didn't really work. There were no dish towels and one pot holder and not enough silverware. There were closets and drawers filled with junk. There were sheets and blankets in the dryer. Similar to a prior review I could go on and on. It would not take a lot to improve this listing, but be aware of what you are getting into. For the price being charged I expected more and certainly anticipated a clean house.

Great hosts, beautiful house!

We went to Cape Cod for a family reunion and stayed here with 7 adults, a first grader, and 1.5 year old and a 6 week old. Leading up to our trip the host was very responsive to our questions. We had a great stay, the host was very accommodating, even came by to drop off towels, answer questions and help us with a baby gate. The house was beautiful and was a short walk to the beach. We hosted a pizza party one night for our extended family and had everything we needed in the house to do so. There were not towel racks or waste baskets in the bathrooms and we saw a few carpenter ants here and there but overall no major issues and we had an excellent stay and would definitely come back!

Did not meet expectations

This is a beautiful looking house. However, our experience with this house did not match the listing or the photos. We arrived and the house had not been professionally cleaned. The counters were cluttered with spices, open condiments, a half used bottle of Pedialyte, loose change, etc. Random toys were left around the house and not put away. The dishwasher was full. Dishes were left in the drying rack. All of the trash cans had trash in them. The beds were messily made, and we were concerned that the sheets had not been washed, so we spent the first two hours re-washing everything. The toilets all had rings in them. We found multiple plastic Easter eggs throughout the house with unwrapped candy still inside. My impression of the house is that it was built as a spec house and some of the rooms had been furnished by the builder. The new owners have not spent much time filling in the furnishings. All of the upstairs beds had white duvet comforter inserts, with no duvet covers and no throw pillows. There are no bath, hand, or face towels, only old scratchy beach towels. There are only two kitchen towels – both Halloween themed. Some of the bathrooms were missing mirrors. We had to reboot wifi when we arrived, but it never connected to Sonos. The house sleeps 12, but there were only 8 plates and they did not match. There were only 6 knives and 7 forks. We had to go out to buy wine glasses, flatware and more plates and cups in order to cook a meal for everyone at the house. We did grill one night, but there is a lightbulb missing from the back porch and it was almost impossible to see the grill in the dark. We woke up the first morning and there were ants everywhere in the kitchen, and on the second floor. Ants were in our (food free) luggage and climbing the walls. The listing stated that a room on the second floor contained 2 queen beds. This was not true. There is 1 king bed on the first floor, 3 rooms each with 1 queen bed on the second floor, 2 pull out couches and a air mattress. One of the pull out couches is very intensely stained. The sink on the second floor bedroom at the top of the stairs runs at a trickle. It was almost impossible to wash your face. There is an electrical issue in the kitchen. Lights flickered throughout the weekend. We needed to flip the breaker multiple times in order to run the dishwasher. I could go on. Overall this house did not come close to meeting our expectations.

Very spacious and clean house with great views of the ocean and short walk to the beach

We had a nice family gathering over Christmas and enjoyed the house and it's location for walking to the beach which we did a lot of even though it was cold outside. Thanks again!
