Not much to say, but write all around for the price, only thing a few bugs here and there, but that’s Hawaii for you.

Stunning South Shore View

We loved our stay at the Stone House. The most incredible views all the way around the house. Hearing the ocean, day and night, was a highlight for all of us! It was convenient to be near shops and restaurants and we loved visiting Baby Beach. It was a wonderful experience for our family's visit to the south shore of Kauaii.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great location. It's generally private, very peaceful and very convenient for accessing baby beach. It is cool to go out and look at the tide pools and the turtles in the water. General cleanliness could be improved. There was a fair amount of trash from previous users under the bed, behind the dressers, etc. We only saw two very small cockroaches in the house. The porch has a significant number of very tiny ants that do bite occasionally, and this is our biggest complaint. It was slightly challenging having a 3 year old due to the height of the beds and the toilets, but otherwise he loved it. I do agree the property needs a no trespassing sign to keep people from crossing the yard to the public rock space. All the other homes have this sign, therefore people park and cross at this house because it does not.Overall I do recommend this property, and the management company was very responsive and easy to work with.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is perfect. Just a minutes drive from shopping and 5 minutes from Poipu beach. The property is gorgeous but in need of some love. It doesn't seem that anyone from housekeeping reports back on repairs that need to be made so you've issues with the house that would normally be taken care of if someone lived there. Screen doors that dont work, shower curtain in bottom shower that's too short so water sprays all over the bathroom floor, very dirty floor mat in same bathroom, knives are very dull even with the sharpener we tried using several times to help them work. Pros of this place, the view. The crashing waves at night die out all other noise. The kitchen was stocked enough for us to cook/grill every night comfortably. We were able to walk through the other rental yards (after getting permission from management) to go to baby beach. It was one of our favorite places to visit. We saw turtles every day off the backyard by the crashing waves. Side notes: beds are pretty firm and the cable TV is only located upstairs. Not an issue but inconvenient when you want to watch news while cooking.Management was very communicative and fast to respond. I would recommend staying here and would stay here again if/when we come back

An Epic Experience Like No Other

The glass walls in the front framed the most gorgeous views of trees, ocean and sky. The crashing waves lulled us to sleep after a day of snorkeling and swimming at Baby Beach, a few steps from the house. The house was very well-stacked with everything we needed to prepare sumptuous meals enjoyed on the lanai. Overall, a truly amazing stay at a beautiful house in a location like no other!

This home is located on a gorgeous point of land with 180 degree ocean views!! The home is beautifully appointed with very comfortable beds and lovely furnishings. The bedrooms have ac but in January we never use it but rather love to fall asleep to the soothing rhythm of the ocean.The kitchen is gourmet equipped to make meals at home and to eat on the ocean front lanai. Louis, Brenda and Chele are so friendly and easy to work with!! The stone house location provides you sweeping views to watch whales, turtles dolphins and the occasional surfer. In addition you can walk to The beach house restaurant or up to Kukuiulu. We thank the Smith Waterhouse family for sharing their beautiful home with us these many years.

Outstanding views

Beautiful views made this house amazing. We would sit and enjoy the sunrise and listen to the ocean. The home itself is in decent condition but could use a deep cleaning, looks like there have been upgrades to the kitchen counters. We had cockroaches, larva and poo everywhere during our stay which was a bit gross. I've never exp them that bad before in Kauai. The kitchen could use some new cooking utensils, some were in poor shape. Overall it was a great stay but we did have issues with the neighbors walking through the yard to get to the rock break in front. Also had people parking in the cul de sac and going in and out of the property to access the rock break thru the driveway. Was a pain getting them to leave, as most of them were cursing at me or name calling. A gate on the driveway or possibly just some small signs to let the neighbor properties know to stay in their own yard would be helpful.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall our stay was fantastic! This was our second stay at Stonehouse and it is by far our preference with the location. It is always clean and ready to go. We noticed the changes and upgrades and appreciated the work that was done to I close the upstairs bedrooms. The cockroaches were plentiful this stay and we have never had an issue with those before inside the house. So treating those would help:) Again, we loved our stay and are thankful and blessed to be able to stay there. Thank you for your hospitality!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Storehouse is the perfect place to stay in Kauai! We came with friends and it was perfect, would be great for a family as well. Poipu was the best place for us, close to amazing beaches (baby beach is about a 45 second stroll away), amazing restaurants and the view from this house..not sure you will want to go anywhere else! While there are air conditioners in each bedroom, the ceiling fans cool the rest of the house nicely and there is a nice breeze. We started the morning with coffee on the deck and cocktails at night to watch the sun set.

The home is absolutely beautiful, open airy with wall to floor windows that allow sunrise to sunset ocean views, The expansive yard and huge lanai are perfect for relaxing playing football with grandchildren or simply sitting reading and enjoying the phenomenal view. The home is decorated with gorgeous hand crafted Koa wood sofa and tables and has very comfortable beds and linens. The staff at Garden Island are so friendly and respond immediately to any needs or questions you have.Thank you to the family for sharing their beautiful special home.

Not What You think

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The stone house is located at a very beautiful setting. All windows have stunning views of the ocean.Having said that, the rest of this review will be quite negative. Bear in mind that our comments are within the context of price: $10,000 per week. At $2,000 weekly our complaints would not be justified!The house interior is shabby. It looks like nothing has been upgraded in decades. The bathrooms are vintage 1960s, in fact one of the toilets broke during our stay. Three days later a plumber came in and did a temporary fix. There is no attention to detail at such a "luxury" home as it's billed. For example, the kitchen knives are the dullest I've used, obviously they've not been sharpened in years.Strangely this "luxury" property has only one upstairs bathroom SHARED BY THE TWO MAIN BEDROOMS!!!! The living room ceiling has clear indications of termites in residence. And so on.A parting comment: we requested a late check out and were denied it.We have stayed four times at a neighboring property which did fulfill our expectations. Unfortunately it was booked already. We will not stay at the stone house unless a major remodel is done, but we are not holding our breath.

Wonderful stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our wedding and honeymoon spot. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay on the island at The Stonehouse. It could not have been more perfect. The second day of our stay we married on the lawn in front of the ocean. Two mornings in a row we saw a giant school of dolphins on our porch. The beach is just barely a minute walk from our porch. Everything was provided for at our house. We only had to pick up some snacks and a few drinks. The house was clean and well taken care of. Most tourist attractions are a short commute from the house. The Spouting horn is just a 3 minute drive. Some of the best restaurants are located on the south shore so you may only drive 5 -10 minutes at most to these places. We absolutely loved Stevens Library at the Grand Hyatt it was just 5 minutes away. I highly recommend this place. It made for some precious memories for me and my husband.

Come for the view

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view from the front porch of this home is just unreal. So one would expect comfortable furniture and fans from which to take it in, but you will not find that here. The furniture inside and outside this home is some of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. At this price point I expect a lot more. On the plus side it’s got good beds, a well equipped kitchen, and plenty of beach gear. The bathrooms are outdated (the toilet upstairs is a toddler size toilet) and the water pressure is poor. We found a roach in the bed one day. The rental company was pretty responsive at the beginning of our stay. When we found the roach they didn’t seem to care much - dropped off roach bait for me to put out. Bottom line, at $1000 a night I expect a whole lot more.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful location on a point that affords expansive views of the coastline. The bedrooms and living areas were comfortable. However, the kitchen pots and pans need an upgrade, especially for a rental that is this nice - most were worn out and the nonstick pans lost its nonstick coating. It’s a bit of a disappointment for an avid cook. We understand that pests and insects are a challenge in a tropical environment but we seem to kill cockroaches almost every other day in this house. We have rented other places before on Kauai but never had this issue.

We didn’t spend much time in the home, but we could have easily spent our whole stay between the home and near by baby beach. We didn’t have many needs, but the host was proactive in correspondence through text. We will likely return with grandparents for a future visit.
