Dear John, I wish you had reached out to us right away with any concerns about the cleaning service or need for pest control visit, so I could have addressed it immediately, instead of not letting us know at all, and then leaving us this surprise review. As you’ll see from the review left by the renters who were there immediately before you, they were very happy with the condition of the house, so whatever you experienced must have been a blip with the weekly service and could easily have been remedied, had you let us know. As for the “outdated” comment, the description and photos make clear that this is a traditional rather than modern setup. It’s been in the family since the 1920s. The furniture is a mix of antique and newer vintage selected to match the traditional. Most of our renters embrace the old Cape vibe (hence all the 5-star reviews, yours being the exception). I gather that wasn’t the vibe you were looking for. Best, Jean

Dear Beth, we are sorry to learn for the first time, a month after this early August rental, that you were dissatisfied with the cleanup the crew did after the renters who left just before your arrival. Had you called us at the time as we requested for any concerns, we could have sent the cleaners back right away to address these issues. FYI, we were at the Cape last week and can verify that the house and porch are now fully clean and the beach chairs that the prior renters left behind outside for others’ use have been removed from the yard. The pest company has also done another regular visit, which we likewise could have moved up in schedule had we been told at the time of ants in the kitchen. We endeavor to be immediately responsive to any calls we get, but if nobody ever brings issues to our attention (but only raises them a month later through a public review), we can’t fix them timely either for you or for those immediately following. We’re glad you enjoyed the location and hope the weather gave you a great week at the next door beach.
