To any future guests, we had made an exception to allow an 80 lb. dog and one other large to medium sized dog for this stay. Yes, this will make it tighter as an 80 lb. dog is the size of a small human! Please read property descriptions and view photos of the properties you are requesting. We, as VRBO hosts, prefer guests that resonate with and appreciate our properties rather than book out of a need for a “pet accepting” accommodation. “Casita” translates to small house or cottage and we know our property and it’s location is an extra special experience to be enjoyed! It’s very open and also very cozy for a small house, with a nice sized, fully enclosed, dog friendly patio. Thank you! The photos and description do speak for themselves. 🏡🌲⛩

From the moment you arrived, four hours early for check in time and without a prior request to do so, you had already caused us concern. You had mentioned that you were active seniors who loved to hike in your request to make a reservation, so the stairs should not have been an issue. There are photos and reviews and directions that were clearly not looked at or you would have seen the stairs and the interior of the casita before renting. It is very important that you carefully read the detailed instructions provided before arriving. The casita was left filthy, with damaged and broken items. This shows that you had no respect for our casita. No one has ever had an issue with the stairs or our kind and responsive communication. We are always available to answer any questions or help with any rental needs. We responded to all your messages promptly and effectively. The next time you rent through VRBO, be sure to read prior reviews, instructions, and take note of the photos and description. We, as hosts, take pride in our property and are constantly improving our representation and amenities. We appreciate guests that resonate with our unique property, rather than rent out of a need to find a pet friendly accommodation within a certain price range.

Hi Nicole, Thank you for your kind review and for choosing to stay at Casita Bettina during the holidays. Thank you for taking such nice care of the casita. We would love to have you stay again during warmer weather and we hope you have a wonderful new year! This is just a note to future guests: Nicole booked this reservation months in advance and we had assumed that she was experienced with our Northern New Mexico winters! Our beautiful, scenic, and very well-appointed casita, is in the mountains, as stated on the VRBO page. All the photos are included of the rental and what you will expect to see when you arrive. Nowhere is it stated that this is a ranch or campground, with walking trails on the property, or are there posted photos showing any other areas besides the parking area, casita, and patio. There are, however, many well maintained county hiking/walking trails very close by. The casita does have a secure and generous patio area with a dog door. Nicole did not ask if there were hiking or walking trails on the property itself and this was an assumption on her part. Nicole was made aware before she arrived, that the roads were plowed by 10 am and that we would grade the parking area by then as well if the snow piled up. We very clearly communicated that we were available to help with this if needed. She was aware that it could snow and had not expressed any concerns. Since she was uncomfortable driving in and out of the driveway, there was a county maintained pull-out to park in, just across the road. Yes, be prepared for snow here in the winter! All the mountain roads are similar. We had no idea how inexperienced of a driver Nicole was in this type of terrain and weather, or we would have suggested she stay in town. 4-wheel drive vehicles are effortless and front wheel drive vehicles are also very doable in the mountains and we are 10 minutes from town. We also only rent to couples or singles, with or without dog/s, and this is also stated, as well as dog size maximum. To be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the tall pine trees and scenic views of the mountain tops, it’s well worth the panoramic drive up the hill from town. Yes, please be prepared for snow when you book during the winter and know what to expect with snowy days. Skiers and winter enthusiasts are gladly welcome during this time of year at Casita Bettina! Casita translated is "tiny home" and ours is cozy, peaceful, super unique and very special, in the modern Japanese style, not unlike Ten Thousand Waves, here in Santa Fe. Happy New Year Everyone!
