The host, Balpha, was extremely welcomiand informative. The cottage location is excellent, at Desoto Falls. We had all the amenities we needed. It was great for a weekend getaway. I would highly recommend and plan to go back.

It was another wonderful stay in Mentone at Canyon Falls Cottage! Balpha is always a fantastic host and does everything he can to make your stay the best it can be. The Ft. Payne Christmas Parade was truly magical and it really kicked off the holiday season! Can’t wait to visit again soon!

Host was very welcoming. He provided directions, walked us through door locks, tv controls, etc., and was quite hospitable. The cottage was wonderful. The open concept downstairs, with the large windows, was beautiful and a great place to spend time. The upstairs loft area was a perfect place for our young boys to play but still be close by. Overall the best part, by far, of the stay was the location, with DeSoto Falls only being a couple of minutes away. We walked there every day to spend time by the waterfall, it was amazing.

The host greeted us to explain features of the cabin and specific artwork in the home. His tour was a fascinating start to our stay. I can’t rave enough about the comfort of the bedding in the upstairs bedroom. My friend said she slept wonderfully in the downstairs bedroom.

Easy to use dishwasher for those who have back problems and can’t bend down easily.
Also easy to use appliances which don’t require excessive bending to use.

I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Mentone!!! You can hear and see Desoto Falls and you're no more than 100 feet from the cliff's edge!! It took me weeks to find the right spot for our vacation and man, did I hit the jackpot!!!The cottage is SUPER CLEAN and the host has really taken great care of it!!! It is also very comfortable and has enough modern amenities that you can enjoy your stay, but also get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.Our host was super nice and very informative and gave us some great advice on where to eat in the area.This cottage is very convenient to everything in the area, plus you can practically "stub your toe and fall into the Desota Falls State Park parking lot" (Host's words! Very true!) :-) We enjoyed our stay here so much, we've already booked it for two more trips in the next three months! Enjoy!

Wonderful location! The cottage is lovely, spacious, clean, well-stocked, peaceful and cozy. Loved all the details like the stained glass window, art, and flowers. Our favorite thing was the proximity to the waterfall. Great location for hiking and enjoying God’s beautiful creation.

The cabin is nicer and more specious than the photos can convey. Very nice appliances and everything. Beautiful blinds and sheets and dishes and towels and comfy everything. Loved it.

Very Enjoyable

I was very happy to find a place that would accommodate my elderly disabled Dad. The beds were nice and low to the floor and the walk in shower was easy for him to access. There was plenty of space for him to walk around with his rollator. The kitchen was ample. The reclining chairs in the living area were nice. Everything was great. The only thing that I can say negative is that I didnt find the little couch to be very comfortable, but other than that we had an amazing stay. The host wven made sure we had a charcoal grill to grill on since the gas grill wasnt working, he made sure we knew oflocal eateries to try and how to work the T.V. remote.

Lovers retreat

It made Valentine’s weekend memorable, and having a beautiful woman was just an addition that was over the top. Everything was perfect, I’m planning to go back, but this time rent both properties for the entire family to experience the beauty of the waterfalls. The history of the property is enriched with just what an individual falls in love with.

Magical!

This cottage has a magical feel about it with the cool architecture and the surroundings. This is a return visit for us and as always, was spotless. Our hosts were great! The house had everything we needed.

This property has been in our family since 1945 at which time the owner’s original cabin was built. The owners live in the original cabin. Our goal in developing rentals is to share what we have treasured for years.
There are now two additional rental units with parking on the estate.
“The Cliff House”on the canyon rim faces the basin and falls. “Canyon Falls Cottage” faces the woods with views of the falls and canyon from the property. There is a view of the falls from the upstairs bedroom in winter which is partially obscured in spring and summer.
The two cabins can be rented together or separately.
No matter the season, one is beckoned to return to this property due to the magic of a spiritual experience at this ancient geological treasure.
