Relájese en nuestro estudio de arquitectura abierta a poca distancia del hermoso lago Elk.

Entre Traverse City y Elk Rapids, nuestros cuartos de estudio de arquitectura abierta se calientan con paredes y techo de pino con lengüetas y ranuras. Cálido y hogareño. Nueva construcción, se nuestros primeros visitantes! El acceso público al lago Elk está a 2 cuadras de nuestro camino privado.

Tiene capacidad para 4 personas cómodamente: cama de matrimonio y nido más un sofá grande, baño completo, cocina muy linda con estufa completa y nevera. Nuestros cuartos de estudio están equipados con ropa de cama completa y suministros de cocina para cuatro personas. TV con cable es tuyo para ver las noticias locales / nacionales y los canales de deportes / películas.

Piérdete en las hermosas y onduladas tierras de cultivo desde aquí hasta donde te lleven tus viajes. La pintoresca ciudad de Elk Rapids se encuentra a solo 10 minutos y Traverse City está a 20 minutos.

¡El secreto está afuera! La zona es famosa por sus restaurantes, bodegas, cervecerías, casas de whisky, playas, lagos, artistas, mercados agrícolas y cualquier otra cosa que pueda obsesionarse. Cenas informales y elegantes está cerca y en abundancia. Nuestra sidrería favorita, ubicada en medio de su huerto de manzanos de origen, está a solo 5 minutos y en el verano ofrece camiones de comida. My First VRBO and it was AMAZING!!

I have to begin this review by saying I have never been the AirBnB/VRBO type, as I am extremely paranoid, distrustful, a bit obsessive about cleanliness, and basically an overall introverted basket case in general. 10/10 I prefer the faceless, reliable, no-human-interaction-required, consistency of large corporate lodging facilities like Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, etc. That being said, I had to come to terms with the fact that I simply was not going to find such accommodations in the areas I was looking to go. And so began a search that was initially halfhearted, because I simply couldn’t imagine myself “doing the AirBnB thing”. I had heard stories from friends that were let’s say, not delightful. I Googled “Torch Lake Vacations” (Torch Lake initially being where I was interested in going), and long story short, I came upon Tim and Jeannie Thaxton’s cabin on VRBO. To my own great amazement, after both looking through the pictures and then especially after reading through the reviews I thought to myself...”this place might be okay. I might be able to do this!!” It was available for the dates I had in mind so I requested to book it. Let me tell you, any and every fear I might’ve ever had about staying anywhere besides a corporate chain hotel has been put to rest. This little studio was not only immaculately clean, all the amenities were new, and frankly it was nicer than my own house. I inadvertently arrived one full hour prior to the stated check in time and as I was sitting in the driveway, feeling like a dolt and frantically trying to contact Jeannie, she casually walked up and welcomed me. Waved away my concerns about being early like I was silly, introduced me to her equally welcoming husband Tim, who offered me full access to the lake via their *private* home, as well as use of their kayaks, etc. (I didn’t partake, of course but it felt wonderful to be so immediately welcomed.) I was completely overwhelmed by their hospitality. Jeannie gave me the lay of the land and then let me be, which was just...I really have no words. They were the perfect hosts. Extremely gracious and welcoming but equally respectful of my privacy. It was the perfect vacation. It’s also worth mentioning that Elk Lake itself is probably one of the most clearest cleanest, most naturally beautiful bodies of water I’ve ever swam in. Truly a slice of heaven on earth. Absolutely 100% recommend this cabin. No hesitation.

A must!

The best experience from VRBO ever! The location is perfect. The property is immaculate and perfect for a couple or two or a small family. I can’t say enough about the hosts. They treat you like family. It was like being at home. We highly reccommend! Oh and there was a hand launch area within a two minute walk to put in our jet skis. We will return.

Beautiful property with amazing hosts

My family of four really enjoyed this property. The setup was perfect for us and the owners went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs. This property has everything you need for a worry free vacation and was very clean. The decor was very cute and tastefully done as well. It is very close to the local boat launch which is convenient for boaters. Just a quick tour through the River and and you are on Torch Lake. We are looking forward to our next visit to the area and our return here.

Perfect Stay!

We loved our stay! It was very convenient to the airport, Torch Lake , Elk Rapid and Traverse City. The area is great. I wished that I would have stayed longer. The house is simple, clean and welcoming. Jeanne was personable and the perfect host. We want to go back to explore more. Hope to see you soon Jeanne!

Great Stay at Studio by the shore

Quiet and peaceful. The owners were very hospitable and available as they live across the street. This spacious setting was perfect for 2 and easy location to downtown Elk Rapids. They did a great job with renovation, very clean and I appreciated the amenities as well.

First Class Experience

Studio with kitchen beats a motel room by far! Impressive accommodations, serene view of Elk Lake, gracious hosts, convenient location near Whitewater campground, Elk Rapids, Ciderworks, Turtle Creek, Torch Lake, etc. We really enjoyed 3 nights here. Barry and Sandy F.

Weekend Fishing Trip

The studio apartment was great and served our needs extremely well. Tim let us use his shop to work on tying up fishing rods. The fact that it was only 1 mile away from the Whitewater park/boat launch on Elk Lake was another plus. My son and I had a great time and Tim & Jeannie's hospitality will not be forgotten. This will be the first place we try to rent when we come up to the area again! P.S. The fishing was great too!

Charming and Perfect!

Jeannie's apartment was immaculate. Everything is new and high quality. It cozy and comfortable and the location is excellent. She took excellent care if us and we really enjoyed our time here. It is quiet and the view out the front window is awesome!!

Great place to stay! Clean, cute, nice hosts!

The place was represented well fromthe pictures. Super clean, hosts were quick to reply and offered helpful tips for out of towners in terms of places to eat and things to do. The space was decorated very well and all the amenities we needed were provided. The only bummer is Wi-Fi, wasn't reliable. Our phones worked so we totally made due. Would absolutely stay again.

Charming country-cottage feel!

Our family of four loved our stay in this studio! It had everything we needed; it was great not having to pack anything but our clothing and toiletries! It was super clean, cleverly decorated, and very cozy! We loved the touch of the provided snacks and how everything was labeled! Jeannie is a sweetheart and very helpful!

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here. Perfect location, quiet area, nice views of the lake, easy and quick access to Traverse City as well as anything in between. Studio is perfect for couple or small family, very spacious, comfy living area, loved having a full kitchen. Owners are wonderful as well!

Awesome studio unit

Great accommodations for four adults or small family. Full kitchen with new appliances. Very clean and modern comforts only steps away from beautiful Elk Lake. The Thaxton’s were exceptional hosts and provided information on food, sights, and boating launches. It’s located 5 minutes from downtown Elk Rapid where there is a fantastic public beach. It’s a gem in an area where it’s difficult to locate nice/affordable accommodations.

Lovely, clean, new space centrally located to loads of "up north fun!

Tim & Jeannie were attentive and gracious hosts. The open studio space was PERFECT for our girlfriend getaway week up north. Elk Rapids was darling, and winery hopping on Old Mission Peninsula super easy. Went to Charlevoix and Petoskey one day. And spent some down time in the rental for crafting, reading and at-home meals. The view out to the lake was calming & it was quiet and private all day and night. Very comfy and had all the amenities we could ever ask for, and more. We will definitely be back again!

Absolutely Perfect!!

We had a wonderful stay here. The place was so well kept, spotless and charming. Thanks for the goodies you left for us in the kitchen and fridge. My girls and I also enjoyed the lake. Jeanie was such a great hostess! She was so warm and welcoming - it was like staying with an old friend. The area is lovely, the neighbors are also very friendly. It was warm and inviting - felt very comfortable and safe. It was really perfect. I can't recommend this studio enough. We will be back, for sure. Thanks Tim & Jeanie for sharing your beautiful place with us!

Amazing place in a beautiful setting!

If you're looking for a cozy place for your Up North vacation - you have found it!! Jeanne and Tim are amazing hosts. From the welcome basket of wine, cheese & fruit in the fridge, to the clearly marked labels on everything - they made us feel right at home. We were the third group to stay in their newly renovated space - so cute! It has a full kitchen, nice big bathroom and plenty of room in the common area for sleeping, watching TV or just spending time together. The view of the Elk Lake is amazing and the location is close to Elk Rapids, Traverse City & Torch Lake. I would recommend this to anyone.

Great stay!

What a wonderful stay! The unit was very clean, comfortable and in great proximity of area attractions. Elk Lake was literally across the street and Torch Lake was a short drive away as well as Traverse City. Jeannie was a wealth of information; readily available to answer questions. We would definitely visit the area again!!! I rate the area and the rental unit a 5 star! I just can't say enough good about the whole experience.

Very Friendly Owners!

This is a one room studio with views of Elk Lake. The owners Tim and Jeannie are the most friendly people you can find, and helped us in numerous ways. By the time we left we felt as if we were part of their family and definitely will be back for another stay. This is a great location for a couple to spend a quiet get away or maybe a couple with one child. The living room and bedroom are all one combined area but it worked great for my wife and I. We were only the third people to rent the unit so everything is new. The wood plank interior finish gives that Up North cabin feel. The kitchen has everything you need except a dishwasher, but we did not eat or cook in much so that was not a problem. If you are looking for a party spot--- This is not it!-- There is a boat launch ramp just down the street , although it requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle to launch there, but there are other paved ramps not far away for ease of use. A neighbor just down the street ( 3 houses away) let us us his lake access land and dock-- Even the neighbors could not have been any nicer ! I really didnt want to give this a good review because when we want to go back it will probably be reserved---Anyway Tim and Jeannie were great to work with and I think you will enjoy their little spot as much as we did.

Great place, affordable, with nice hosts!

Jeannie and Tim’s place was beautiful! It has been recently remodeled and is brand new. I was very impressed with the overall feel of it. It is very cozy! The hosts, Jeannie and Tim, were very nice people to meet, and were very accommodating to our needs. They told us about all the best places to eat, all the best beaches, and make some great recommendations of things to do during our vacation. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, and relaxing place to stay at an affordable price, this is your place! 10/10. We will be back!

Clean, comfortable, and convenient

Tim and Jeannie were very kind people that greeted us upon arrival. We were first guests in the newly renovated studio, decked out with fresh pine paneling. The studio was well stocked, perfectly clean, and many items labeled to help make your way around the place. The location is set looking out on beautiful Elk Lake, and is a short distance to both Elk Rapids and Traverse City. Looking forward to the next time we stay here!
