The stay at Villa Embil was fabulous! Miguel was as hospitable and helpful with all aspects of our family holiday as anyone could ask for!! Getaria was a perfect location with the beach just a short walk, the village just a short walk, and not the congestion of San Sebastion. The Villa was perfect for the 11 of us with 4 levels of space and vistas of the sea from almost everywhere! We even had Chef Laura come and do a cooking class for all of us that Miguel arranged! Truly a great vacation at a great spot with a great host!!!

We had an amazing time at this beautiful villa in Getaria. The host, Miguel, Angel, was very informative and wonderful to get to know. The adults had an amazing time, relaxing on the various patios, and the children loved the outdoor spaces. It is located very close to the little village, which was bustling due to local festivities. We also enjoyed easy access to the beach. Our large group had three cars, and though there was not parking at the house, there was across the street. It was easy to feed the meter for the day. We would highly recommend this villa property, and host, to anyone!

Incredible Home and Location

We spent 5 nights in this gorgeous home and wish we could have stayed a month! This historic home has been fully updated but still retains the charm from its rich history. The location is fantastic for quick trips around the region or just lazy walks on the beach. I could not recommend this property more highly. It has everything you could need! We are already making plans to return!

The trip to Villa Embil was absolutely amazing. We were welcomed by our host and received lots of places of interest and restaurants from him. Villa was gorgeous, clean and the views of Bay of Biscayne and Mediterranean were beautiful.

Amazing stay!

We loved staying here! Our whole group had a wonderful time. Many listings aren't quite as nice as the pictures, but Villa Embil is even nicer than the beautiful pictures! It's spacious, plenty of bathrooms, big bedrooms, great kitchen, and the views are spectacular. We would come back anytime.

A Beautiful Villa in a Great Location

We are two families with grown up children; we have been away together several times in recent years and we all agreed this was the best villa yet. Everything was excellent! The photographs don't do the villa justice. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds more comfortable than what we have at home and the location was perfect! We are already planning our return trip!

Beautiful villa Embil

We stayed here for my partners 50th birthday and had an amazing time. The villa is set up with everything you could need and had ample room for our party of 12. The online photos don’t do it, or the views justice, it’s even better in real life. The location is amazing, Getaria is a beautiful town with easy access to San Sebastián. Miguel was a perfect host, really helpful and communicative. He and his wife have renovated the villa very well. We will be back!

What a magical home and experience. We had our 3 young kids (4,3,1), parents, and aunt with us for a week in Getaria, and will be longing to go back to this Villa every day until we do. Miguel is a special host, and his home was made to feel’s our for our time there. Perhaps our favorite VRBO of all time

Amazing villa!

Miguel was super nice to meet us at the villa for check in. He explained how to use everything in the house and even talked to the private chef we booked for a house dinner one night, which was really helpful. He was also very responsive when we had questions during the stay. The villa was the perfect place to celebrate our marriage and house our family for a few days. The villa had everything you could think of and we were very impressed with the kitchen. The views are absolutely incredible, all of our guests were in awe of the property. Getaria is a wonderful town and easy to get around by foot. You can even walk to some wineries with delicious wines and spectacular views. We highly recommend staying here!!

Beautiful Villa

We stayed at the villa to celebrate the marriage of my daughter and her fiancée. The property was gorgeous and well maintained. The owner was responsive, and we loved the private chef he recommended. Only issue was with parking, but once we figured out where to park it was no problem. Also be prepared for lots of stairs. Some in our party had trouble getting their luggage into the villa because of the climb.

A little slice of heaven in the Basque country

I can't say enough about this amazing place called Villa Embil. The pictures don't come close to showing the beauty of the property and spectacular views from the various decks and windows within the home. Miguel is fantastic, and went above and beyond in accommodating our group. Great communication and personal attention. I highly recommend this rental to anyone who wants to have a special experience in the Basque country. And you must have Miguel arrange a prepared dinner by Chef Montxo for your group on the deck. Can't wait to return!

Week in Getaria at Villa Embil

Our large family group stayed at Villa Embil for 6 nights. Miguel was a great host and answered all questions and needs very well for us. The villa is beautiful and overlooks the Getaria harbor. We enjoyed many beautiful mornings and evenings from the viewpoints at the villa. The layout was perfect for having meals and celebrations with the whole family. The villa has been renovated with very high quality materials. Lastly, we followed Miguel's recommendation to have his chef friend Montxo come provide a fabulous Basque dinner at the house. The meal was amazing and Montxo and his wife accommodated everyone's dietary needs very well. This chef's dining experience is highly recommended if possible.

Stunning Views! Better than the pictures!

Our group of ten stayed at Villa Embil for eight fabulous days. Our son lives in the Basque Country, and we hadn't seen him in two years. It was the perfect setting for a wonderful family reunion. Lots of privacy and space. Dining on the terrace was magical. The villa is completely equipped with anything you could want. It was spotless upon arrival. It's an easy and pleasant walk to Zarautz along what is a portion of the Camino De Santiago. The location makes visits to any attraction in Basque an easy drive. Miguel was extremely helpful and available. I recommend this property without any reservation.

A magnificent villa overlooking the gorgeous sea side town of Getaria

Every few years, my best friends and I get together to celebrate our joint birthdays. This year we decided to celebrate in the wonderful Basque Country. Between us there were 8 adults and 4 tweeners who enjoyed the beautiful Villa Embil perched overlooking the twon of Getaria. The Villa was well equipped with everything we could possibly need and it was delightful to learn about the history of the Villa from the owner Miguel on arrival. We had our very own vegetable garden to pick fresh produce from. We organised our last night in together with a local chef who came and prepared some local delicacies. It's a short walk into town to enjoy some fine Pintxos and a drink. The view from atop 'mouse mountain' is spectacular and the coastal walk to neighbouring beachside town of Zarautz is well worth it. 10/10 and would stay there again.

Take your high expectations and double them.

This place is amazing!!! The pictures are only a glimpse of what you will get to live in. It’s a beautiful property with all you will need (towels, blow dryers, spices, pots/pans, washer/dryer, etc). The beds are super comfortable and the property is very peaceful. The views are pure magic. The new hang out area in the basement is the best!!! To top it all off Miguel is a genuine person wanting to make your stay perfect. Just get ready for steps as this place is perched above the town. We didn’t have much issue with parking, but it is a bit complicated. You can park at the gate at the bottom for about 30 min, but then you need to take your car to the beach parking which is just about a 3 min walk back to the house. You can usually park in a spot where you can see your car from the house. Needless to say, we WILL be back!!!! Thank you, Miguel!!!!

Family holiday in the Basque Country

This is a high quality property situated with many beautiful views of the ocean and town of Getaria. It is a short walk to the lovely village of Getaria, and a short drive or 30 min walk to the lively town of Zaurutz. Parking was a bit of an inconvenience, but the 9 of us with three cars managed. Mastering the method to get a ticket to park legally took us - and many others - some effort. We felt great after learning to manage after a few tries. 😉Others commented on the parking already. We are all in good shape, but note that getting in and out is a climb. And the road noise is present, but not bad. The host was very pleasant and we communicated through WhatsApp easily. WiFi was great. Kitchen was nice. We harvested lettuce and cucumbers from the garden! The nearby Balenciaga museum was great, and we enjoyed several restaurants in the old village and the clean BM grocery store up the hill. Our visit included time in San Sebastián, about 30 min away, and several magnificent hikes in nearby parks. One walk through a botanical garden and old mills, and another climb to a Borda near Atseuza. Really wonderful for those with the health and interest. Also a memorable evening at a cider house! We are very glad for the experience and the house was part of what made our holiday great.

Marvelous Time at a Remarkable Home

Villa Embil is a little slice of heaven. The property is immaculate with fabulous views and excellent proximity to the charming town of Getaria. The house is extremely comfortable and very well appointed. The nearby Txakoli vineyards are not to be missed. Miguel is an excellent host offering great communication and an extensive guide book for the house and surrounding area. A few key points about which visitors should be aware: The house is situated above the main road and requires a stair climb for access. There is no onsite parking. The nearest parking is extremely close. However, free parking on the nearby dirt road was not always available during our stay. We were always able to find paid public parking, but depending upon how many beachgoers were using the on street parallel parking, the walk from the car back to the house could be up to five minutes. (NOTE: Parking enforcement is only in effect between 10 AM and 8 PM and payment for 24 hours was ~12 Euros.) Finally, dealing with trash and recycling was a minor inconvenience. Be prepared for an extensive waste separation process. Disposal of accumulated trash and recycling is about 500 meters from the house. Despite such minor inconveniences, we had a marvelous time at Villa Embil. The descriptions and photos only hint at the beauty of this house and the surroundings. If we ever return to this magical area we will definitely stay again.

Truly gorgeous villa in perfect location

We can't rave enough about our stay at Villa Embril in Getaria, Spain!! First of all, the villa itself is absolutely stunning. It's perched up high above the seaside with panoramic views from almost every room of the water and the perfect fishing village and port of Getaria. The villa is decorated beautifully a la Restoration Hardware with tasteful neutral colors and linens. Every detail adds to the beauty, while still allowing the superb sea views and terraced gardens to hold the spotlight. We are still dreaming of those views. The only possible issue I can imagine regarding the villa is for someone with mobility issues because there are quite a few stone steps going up to the villa from the road, and then the villa itself has 3 levels. Getaria is a dream village 5 minutes walk on the easy paved walk way that runs between all the nearby towns, and is safe day or night. Getaria has cobblestone streets, beautiful old buildings, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a very nice wide sand beach. The town has a lovely family feel with babies to grandparents happily socializing, eating and enjoying themselves long into the evenings. We quickly found our favorite cafe in Getaria for grilled fish (a specialty of the region and freshly caught daily by the local fishermen) and local wine. The town is charming and beloved, and though quite small it even boasts a Michelin-starred restaurant. We all decided we could easily live in Getaria and be happy forever! In terms of location, the more well-known small city of San Sebastian is about 25-30 minutes away from the villa, Bilbao is an hour, and the Rioja Valley wine region is 1.5 hours. So everything is quite convenient, though we found it hard to tear ourselves away from Getaria and the villa. Last but arguably most important, Miguel was a charming and gracious host who attended to every detail to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Based on our photos of his villa and our rave description, we have already shared his contact info with 4 of our friends who hope to plan future trips! Thank you for everything, Miguel. La vista desde la casa es maravillosa, con una amplia terraza para disfrutarlas y todas las estancias interiores están decoradas con gusto y perfectamente amuebladas. Esta cerca de la playa. Existe un paseo hasta Zarauz que pasa por delante de la casa siendo muy agradableNos dio problemas el tema del aparcamiento porque no existe cerca hay que ir al pueblo, unos 10 minutos y cerca solo parking de pago.

excepcional experiencia

Villa maravillosa para disfrutar de una estancia única y excepcional. las estancias son cómodas y recientemente renovadas. Tiene una cocina muy grande y con utensilios para lo que quieras y más. La zona de comedor (tanto exterior como interior) son amplias y puede comer tranquilamente 10 personas. Utilizamos muchos la barbacoa (recientemente renovada) y nos salieron unos chuletones y unos rodaballos buenísimos. LO mejor de la casa es sin duda sus excepcionales instalaciones y las vistas únicas al cantábrico y al puerto de getaría. Recomiendo 110% esta casa. además su zona ajardinada es espectacular. Con decir que la gente que pasaba se hacia fotos frente a la casa. Por otro lado, los propietarios estuvieron muy atentos y siempre predispuestos a lo que necesitaremos, Es un gusto encontrarse gente así Felicidades Miguel Angel

Experiencia maravillosa para familia y amigos!!!

Somos una familia de Nueva York, alquilamos la casa con amigos y hijos por una semana em Septiembre.. No tengo palabras para decir lo tan espetacular que fue nuesta estadia en la Villa Embil, en Getaria. El paisaje es magnifico, la casa cuenta con amplio espacio para los ninos jugaren y los adultos disfrutaren. La casa es impeclabemente limpia y organizada, con muchas habitaciones y banos... La ubicacion es perfecta, pues que uno puede ir a la playa en 5 minutos, sin tener que preocuparse en estacionar el coche. Lo mismo para el pueblo de Getaria, con su puerto tan interesante y restaurantes excellentes. Tanbien de la casa uno puede salir directamente a espetaculares senderos para caminatas o paseos en bicicleta, sea en las vinicolas o vecino al mar... A parte la experiencia magnifica de la casa, quiero destacar la atencion especial del proprietario Miguel, quien es super accesible, nos contesto todas preguntas y nos hizo los procedimientos administrativos super sencillos. A parte esto, Miguel organizo, a mi peticion, una maravillosa surpresa de cumpleanos para mi esposa, con una cena con chef y servicio a mesa, y tambien un espetaculo del baile vasco Auresku. Fue inolvidable, y no tengo palabras para describir la atencion con que Miguel organizo esto. Finalmente, recomendo pedir a Miguel que organize cenas asi con este chef de Pamplona, Montxo, y su esposa. Nos encanto tanto la cena de cumple de mi esposa, que le pedimos a Montxo que volviera otra vez.. Comimos mas rico con el que en cualquier restaurante Michelin, y con la ventaja de estar tranquilos acomodados en la casa, con los hijos jugando en el jardin.. Una experiencia inolvidable para el grupo de 7 adultos y 4 ninos que eramos... En resumen, esta fue la mejor experiencia de nuestras vidas alquilando una casa de veraneo, y la recomiendo al 300%... Somos una familia amplia, nos reunimos en esta casa para disfrutar juntos de un entorno inigualable.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Esta es nuestra segunda residencia, una casa grande donde cabe toda la famila.

En verano disfrutamos de las terrazas, las vistas al mar y del continuo discurrir de yates y veleros, o bien nos entretenemos cuidando los jardines y nuestra pequeña huerta ecologica.

En invierno, al calor de la chimenea del salón, contemplamos la fuerza del mar a través de los ventanales, o bien nos sumergimos a leer alguno de los libros de la biblioteca.

Es un ambiente muy relajante
