Very lovely house, amazing sunset views as it is right off the water. House has everything you need for cooking, even has filtered water for drinking and cooking.Nice to haves, some extra fans as when it is sunny out and no breeze the house can get toasty.A heater for the pool would be nice so it can be used at night time....

Master shower was broken and water pressure was very low which made taking showers a frustrating & disappointing experience. When I alerted the house managers they informed me they had only just discovered the issue, and it couldn’t be resolved until the day I checked out. The property itself is lovely and sleeping to the sound of the waves crashing is amazing! Hoping to come back in the future.

The view from this property was amazing! We slept with the windows open and listened to the ocean all night. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed as well as coolers and beach chairs to use during our day excursions.

This was our second time staying here and the beauty was as we remembered. The location so close to the water is special even though there were huge waves and strong winds while we were there.

A wonderful location perched above the lava ! The house was super spacious and the crashing waves were a delightful way to fall asleep! Mike provided some great pointers for day adventures - particularly The secret black sand beach!

This property is on a lovely lava cliff facing the sunset over the ocean. Our family wishes the interior was as well positioned. Delayed maintenance issues are catching up with this owner: the master shower was not working and a towel rod fell off the wall. The six of us shared a working shower, but the kitchen sink was another obstacle. The disposal was not working, we assume it was clogged. Because the dishwasher also emptied into this bowl, filling it with water every time we washed dishes, we had to bail water into the right side bowl to prevent overflow. We were grateful the window/door screens were in good shape as there are plenty of biting insects.The house is an hour’s drive from grocery, gas, restaurants, etc. The local beach is currently closed, but should open in a few months, maybe (as the locals told us).

I booked for the waterfront view. It did not disappoint! Out of town, quiet, amazing view. Had everything we needed. Great communication with owner. Also, owner had some great suggestions for shopping and restaurants.

weeks of great family time

We had such a great time. when some of us wanted to go to the beach and some wanted to stay at the house it went safe and they were content. The house was beautiful and comfortable. We cooked together and there was plenty of room for everyone of the 6 of us.

This is an AWESOME location, with an owner who was very helpful in providing suggestions for exploring the area.The views are so beautiful. It is pretty private and secluded However the property is feels a little rustic.We would definately stay there again!

Please accept my deepest apologies for the state of the house. We have terminated the contract with both our House Manager and Cleaners and have hired new folks. They were not doing a very good job and for that we are truly sorry.

Beautiful remote location on the water

We rented this home as a landing spot for our daily excursions. The house is right on the water, so sunsets and dolphin watching was spectacular. We wished there was easier access to the water for swimming and snorkeling, but we were able to get in the water via other beaches.

What a beautiful home overlooking the ocean. You see local fishermen late at night and early morning fishing off the cliffs surrounding the house. Lots of beautiful decorative touches in the house and lots of ocean exposure. Much has been done to maintain the house against the salt corrosion. Peaceful place far from town to relax

Sitting on the moon at the edge of the ocean. Breathtaking is putting it mildly. Spectacular 100%. Enchanting to say the least. There really aren’t enough wonderful things to say about Hale Kai. The location, the stunning views, the only sounds you hear are the waves crashing on the shore, it’s absolutely awe-inspiring. The house is fantastic, open, and airy, yet cozy and inviting. The owner has a wealth of knowledge about the area and some hidden gems to go check out if you’re interested. You won’t be disappointed. Everything was above and beyond our expectations. We hope to come back again and again. Having to leave was the hardest part of our trip. A truly amazing experience. Thank you for sharing Hale Kai with us.

Nice house

Several upkeep items- garbage cans full, microwave did not work, fresh water not refilled, some extremely dirty cooking pans, ran out of paper towels, no extra rolls. House was clean, beds were comfy great location on the water.
