Bienvenido a Poppys Hideaway, nuestra escapada familiar, un nombre proporcionado por nuestros cinco nietos. Disfruta de un tranquilo fin de semana romántico para dos o invita a tus amigos a pasar un buen fin de semana. Diversión en el río, senderismo, ciclismo, paseos a caballo, pasear por la Vía Verde de Luray o dar un paseo por Skyline Drive; Todos están a poca distancia de la cabina. Nuestra casa está a 6 millas del centro de Luray y 3 millas de los proveedores de Shenandoah River Outfitters.

La cabaña ofrece 3 dormitorios, 2 baños, comodidades cálidas y acogedoras, un amplio patio y está directamente en el río Shenandoah. Construido como una cabaña de vacaciones, no encontrará una experiencia privada en el río más espaciosa que esta en ninguna parte de la zona. Acres de césped rodean la cabina por todos lados y no hay vecinos a la vista. Cientos de pies de costa privada significan que puede tomar una siesta en la hamaca, pescar o sacar las canoas sin ser molestado por otros o escuchar el ruido o ver a otros vecinos.

Una cama king y dos camas queen dormirán cómodamente seis y tenemos ropa de cama adicional para un máximo de 8. La cocina ofrece cocina a gas, refrigerador con máquina de hielo, todo lo que necesitará para una excelente comida. Si prefiere cocinar al aire libre, lo tenemos cubierto con parrillas de gas y carbón.

En un día lluvioso, todavía hay mucho por hacer dentro. Internet Wifi gratis y televisión satelital lo mantendrán conectado. Hay un teléfono fijo con llamadas locales y de larga distancia gratuitas. Hay libros, juegos de mesa y películas para rebuscar. ¡Donde quiera que vaya, esta casa tiene lo que está buscando!

So Peaceful

I've lost count of how many times we have stayed at Poppy's!! I'm thinking this is the 6th time! Sometimes we have stayed in the Spring and in the Fall of the same year. At this point it's so familiar that it feels like home. We love that we can bring our Golden Retriever along on vacation! She loves Poppy's too!! If you're needing peace and quiet, this is your place! So nice sitting on the deck in the morning with coffee looking at the river and if its raining you have the covered porch out front or the whole open downstairs! The open downstairs has a tv and a bathroom! I dont think people are aware of that, it was put in a few years ago. I'm pretty sure new mattresses have been bought since we were there last, the new one is so comfortable! I can't imagine anyone leaving here truly disappointed! I will say watch your puppy's paws and your own on the back deck in the afternoon sun, It Is Hot! Also, every year we leave wanting to buy that sofa in the living room, it's so cozy!

Weekend in Luray

I wanted to take my kids to Luray Caverns and to explore Skyline Drive because those were good memories from my childhood. The kids (10 & 12) enjoyed both. We loved being right on the river but I'll admit the bugs were out in full force this first weekend of May. This was our first time renting a pet friendly home so we could bring our small dog and I am thrilled to say that you could not tell that other dogs had been staying there. The home was clean and did not smell at all like "dog." Thanks for the memories!

Riverside Perfection

Our family had a wonderful few days here. The home is lovely, set back from the road with sweeping lawns. Once you round into the back there is another huge lawn and direct river access. The view is beautiful from every direction. There are several types of boats to use and easy to get to the river. We also really enjoyed the inner tubes and rocking lawn chairs. We spent many hours playing in the water and swinging on the overlook. The home itself is lovely and we loved the wide deck where swallows would zoom by and land in the morning. There are many places to sit and the bedrooms were comfortable. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in cooler days. The kitchen had everything we needed and everything was in good working order. One thing to be prepared for is to remove your own trash or pay 5 a bag for removal which we found convenient and worth it. Lastly, the fire pit is a crowning jewel of this property- well stocked firewood and easy to set up. You’ll enjoy roaring by fires under the stars! The location was great- it has a far away feel but is actually close to grocery stores, hikes, and the caverns. We loved staying here and would definitely return for another stay.

Amazing time! Can't wait to go back!

We spent a wonderful week at Poppy's Hideaway enjoying the lovely house, the river, and the perfect fire-pit! The open downstairs portion of the house was our very favorite part!! Truly an awesome space to hang out, watch tv, listen to music, grill and chill! We spent so much time down stairs drinking coffee in the mornings, painting our river rock on the rainy day of our stay, having a nightcap in the evenings, or just hanging out and relaxing after time spent on the river. We have only been home from our trip for a week and we already cannot wait to return!! The house was ideal for us (two adults and a large dog) - everything was clean and well maintained, the river access is right off of the backyard of the property, and the location was perfect. Plenty of privacy on the property but still only 10-15 minutes away from towns and shopping.

Great place to stay

Poppy’s Hideaway is exactly as described on the website. Everything was clean, and the yard and river was liked by everyone, especially my dog. This place is in a nice location where nobody is very close, but it is still close enough to the national park and stores.

Perfection

Absolutely perfect. The cabin is wonderful! The beds are very comfortable and everything worked as it should. We especially enjoyed the downstairs area and watching baseball in the evening breeze. The puppy loved running in the ample yard and the old dog even got in on the action. The river was as peaceful as ever and we caught a ton of bass. The young adults loved the campfire time in the evenings. The upstairs deck area was perfect for drinking coffee in the mornings. Poppy's Hideaway is one you won't regret! Thank you for sharing this slice of heaven with us! This is a gem of a rental! We absolutely loved it!

Wonderful Spring Break Vacation

We absolutely loved staying here. Our dog enjoyed the large yard to run in. We loved the firepit for making smores at night. The house had a beautiful view of the river. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable, and kitchen was perfect. The house was also a 20 min drive to the National Park entrance where we spent most of our days hiking. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic property

This is a beautiful cabin. It was clean, had everything we needed and it is on a beautiful lot on the river. It matches the pictures perfectly and was a wonderful place to spend a couple of days.

Fantastic property

We loved the weekend at Poppy’s hideaway. The weather was perfect so we were able to spend the days entirely outside on the big lawn, by the river, in the kayaks and on the swings. But even if we’d been stuck inside, it would have been cozy and comfortable enough for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment for cooking and trailheads were just a short drive away.

We had an amazing time at poppy's! The cabin is super cozy, the view is lovely. The location is only 12 minutes away from most major Luray attractions. Hughly recommend!

Bugs inside the house

We are not huge complainers and we’re fine with bugs outside the house because that’s part of the point of escaping to the country, but we were frustrated by the number of bugs (boxelder beetles) inside the house. The sliding glass doors on the river side of the house weren’t well sealed, letting dozens of boxelder beetles inside the river-side bedrooms (which included the master bedroom). In addition, the window well of the master also had hundreds of dead boxelder beetles on the inside because the frame of the screen was bent and there was a mud dauber nest (thankfully abandoned) inside the living room slider. We sprayed the sliders on the morning of the second day and were then able to remove the remaining beetles after that, but it was frustrating and was clearly a result of poor maintenance on the sliding glass doors.

Poppy’s Hideaway s a Hidden Gem

This is our second time staying here. It is a gorgeous cabin on the river. It has a huge yard and direct river access. There is a great fire pit, which we used almost every night, and firewood is provided. The beds are super comfy as is the huge sectional couch in the living room. This cabin has everything you need from bedding, to towels, to a fully outfitted kitchen and laundry. The owners provide paints and brushes for everyone to paint river rocks and add them to the rock garden in front of the house. Under the house is a really great outdoor living area with a television, seating, dining table, sink, fridge, and grills. We loved this cabin. They also supple many games, books, and dvd’s.

A Lovely Respite

Our second time at Poppy's Cabin. It is just really a lovely place to be. If you are looking for a relaxing place of respite and privacy then this place is for you. It is in a beautiful setting and the cabin itself is really nice and it is clear that whoever built this cabin gave it a lot of thought to placement within the setting and the views were just so nice and tranquil. My family and I spent our days half relaxing and half partaking in all the adventure that nature has to offer in this Shenandoah Valley Setting. We did not want to leave and go back to the day to day rat race back home. It was hard to leave and it was a great escape. Thanks Poppy!

Slice of heaven!

If you are looking for a beautiful secluded getaway among the trees and the mountains and cool clear clean water this is the place for you ! We spent 6 wonderful days at Poppys Hideaway and had a relaxing getaway. We spent our days sitting in the Shenandoah River or a short canoe hop down the calm river. The house has unbelievable scenery from every window and all the modern convinces you could ever want! This is our second trip to Poppys and will not be our last! If you have kids who like to play outdoors they will love it!!

Amazing!

We have been fortunate enough to stay at Poppy’s Hideaway twice this year, once over the summer and again Christmas week. Both stays were wonderful! Our Christmas trip however was magical! The house is cozy and has everything you need. The property is breathtaking! Highly recommend to anyone that is looking to get away and disconnect. I feel that our trips to Poppy’s Hideaway have truly brought our family closer together, as we created very special memories! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
