Location excellent but properly a little lacking.
I already know I will be lambasted by the owners for this review based on other reviewers who haven’t given a 5 star rating. But this property, although ideally located, is no 5 star property. Yes it’s an historic building. But it needs a lot of updates and fixing up. Almost everything in it is worn and shabby. I don’t understand all these 5 star ratings. Bathrooms moldy in showers and luckily due to Covid we had our own bleach so we cleaned. . Curtains old, dusty and threadbare. Appliances very old although working. No real closets. Upholstered furniture could use some fresh slip covers or just replacing. When I see a 5 star rating I expect more. In fairness the owners do have a 5 star rating but I just don’t get it. The place IS spacious. But only one en-suite. Sometimes with old properties they just never look or feel clean and that was the case here. I respectfully disagree with the 5 star ratings.
Fabulous location for exploring historic Charleston.
This is a perfect location to walk and explore Charleston. So close to great restaurants and historic sights. Description and photos of the apartment are exactly how we found it. Two large comfortable king bedrooms, one has en-suite bathroom and second bathroom is off living area. Owner was very responsive and helpful.
What a lovely set up in the historic end of Charleston. We enjoyed the property for several cold days in February, but that didn't seem to dampen our time, as we ate our way through the city! Everything you need is close at hand in this property. We had even brought coffee and the kitchen had a full set-up.
The19 steps to the housing was the only thing that we would have changed and that has just become a reality in our advanced age!! The City Market was very close, the downstairs restaurant, 'Oak Steakhouse' was wonderful for filet, but our favorite morning spot would definitely be on the corner at ONE BROAD. We started out our day with a good, tasty breakfast there. We would recommend to family and friends.
Our trip was a good one with another couple but, was temperamental while we were there; mid- March, would probably be a great time rather than in February due to the winds/rain/cold. Mother's Nature is in charge of that part! One thing we were not aware of as had been advertised was the BA was not attached to the second bedroom, but at least we had two but, it was a tad misleading. Thank you for your generosity of renting this home, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Two Kings is a 2000 square foot apartment. Other apartments for a party of 4 are 1/4 of the square footage.
Regarding the 2nd bath, we point out that it is off the Family Room (Main) in our description of bedrooms and very clearly in our Virtual Tour. We have accommodated 2 couples for 18 years and never mislead, not even a tad. Fact is the 2 King Bedrooms are separated by the large kitchen & family room. Privacy is NOT a problem due to the layout and spaciousness of our apartment. We also understand that when one couple rents a space and includes another couple, there can be confusion, e.g. the 2nd couple arrived 2 hours early with no communication. I actually helped them unload and allowed them to check in. It was immediately obvious that this lady never read the copy nor check-in instructions. The wrought iron staircase comes with our 225 year old building. After ascending, the apartment is all on one floor.
We do offer a cozy Studio for 2 with no stairs:) Jacobson Building's location is unparalleled and we are happy you found that enjoyable even during inclement weather. We truly hope you will come back to visit.
