This architecturally designed ADU is located on the Piedmont side of Montclair. Conveniently located in a woodland setting, it is close to public transportation and an easy walk to Montclair Village shops, banks, and restaurants. This unique unit includes heating and air conditioning and Miele washer and dryer. The gourmet kitchen is equipped with a Bosch appliances --dishwasher, gas range, microwave, disposal, refrigerator. There is a dedicated WiFi access point in the ADU, with a Gigabit fiber Internet backbone. The Internet is high speed wired and wireless. There is no TV, but bring your own streaming device and connect to the Internet to watch your favorite TV shows and movies.

The Back Forty was perfect for our stay! Well-located, beautifully appointed. The bed was super comfortable and the hosts Greg and Gail (and Chewy) were lovely and incredibly hospitable. The check-in instructions were clear and check out was easy, too. Overall a 10/10!

Beautiful neighborhood/great location

This ADU is in the owners beautiful expansive back yard and is walking distance from Montclair village. The ADU had a great layout and felt very open and roomy. The hosts thought of everything we could have needed and more. This was probably the best vrbo/rental we have ever stayed in.

A gem!

We were delighted to find this super clean, well supplied unit available within a mile of our family in Piedmont! It is a separate small building at the top of the gorgeous garden in the backyard of the main house. We had anticipated parking being a problem, but it wasn't! During the day it is a little more limited than in the evening though. The space was practically new and just right for two adults. The kitchen was tight but well organized - with special coffee machines if you are coffee drinkers. Laundry machines were under the counter in the kitchen - great to have! If you are very short, you will need to use the supplied step stool to reach some cupboards. Great lighting and wonderful windows made this place special. We hope to return to this perfect little spot on future trips to Piedmont/Montclair!

One of our favorite vacation rentals ever.

This aesthetically pleasing, contemporary design has many unique features which are delightful. Fixtures, furniture, linens, and well-stocked kitchen are high-end; the unit is bright and sunny with easy access to two outdoor spaces; the private back patio has smart shades and a large slider easily linking indoor and outdoor spaces. Despite being a studio, the bedroom area is quite private due to the clever architectural design. And the large walk-in shower is phenomenal! We would definitely stay here again!

The family was very nice and flexible. Communication was quick. The unit was well stocked and they left a cinnamon bread treat. Nice private view from unit. You do have to walk thru backyard to get to unit but we loved it overall. The unit was brand new, and clean. Will stay there again.

Gem in Montclair

Fantastic place to stay! located in a beautiful neighborhood, this property is very well thought out and has a great feel to it's space. I love how it fills with natural light. The owners are wonderful and very helpful (and their pup Chewy is a cutie pie). The unit has great privacy, well appointed, and the kitchen is awesome (note - it does not have a TV, so be sure to bring something to stream on)! The unit is very close to Montclair's shopping area - I walked there almost everyday. Great restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, workout spots (there's also a walking trail nearby), and more. Highly recommend.

Beautiful inside and out.

Overall good experience. May not be great for remote workers. They were using an unusual internet solution. Instead of a typical home WiFi network, it was like the hotel style where you’re redirected to a login portal. I experienced similar problems as when working out of a hotel (ie. session timeouts). But if I was strictly on vacation I would gladly come here again. The kitchen is well stocked and the garden is beautiful.
