We have stayed at Honua Kai several times. This trip did not disappoint. The condo is in great shape and is well maintained. We can't wait to go back.

Perfect Place to Stay - Has Everything

This condo has everything you could want - right on the beach, fantastic views, great pools, onsite restaurants, coffee bars and markets, poolside eating/drinking, beachside bbq’s, all while having the comforts of home with full kitchen and laundry facilities. The hosts are great to deal with and extremely responsive. They even accommodated our late check out request as we had the red eye home and were able to stay until 9pm! I would definitely stay here again!

Found our new Maui getaway!

Wonderful experience from beginning to end. I had some questions regarding the unit prior to arrival and received prompt replies. The check in process was easy, and staff were helpful and friendly. Enjoyed my morning coffee on the patio with the ocean view to my right, and beautiful greenery to my left. The unit was clean, spacious and the kitchen was definitely loved. We will definitely be coming back!! Mahalo for a fantastic vacation!

Fantastic

We made a last minute trip to Maui searched days for a place this unit was perfect great location just right for a couple nice bed and AC worked great.The best thing was the host Maui Resort Rentals their customer service was over the moon great communication along with service. As I said the AC works great and my wife needed another blanket easy-peasy we had a blanket. Thanks again for the wonderful memories that were made for us.

I recently returned from a seven night stay here. We were return guests to the Condos but first in this room. The room was spacious, clean, and well equipped with modern amenities. I was also pleased to find that our room had a view of the ocean which made for a breathtaking start to the day. The hotel restaurant offered a wide variety of delicious cuisine which changed daily, as well as drinks at the bar which were always expertly concocted. The location of the hotel was also perfect - right on the beach, which meant I could make the most of the warm tropical weather and crystal-clear waters. There were also many shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance, which made for a lovely evenings out. Overall, the staff, facilities, and overall experience was truly amazing. Highly recommended!

Good place, a few drawbacks

We had a great time at Honua Kai. It's an outstanding property in a perfect location. Views are unbelievable, we watched whales breach from our balcony. It is true relaxation from the moment you arrive. Our only complaints about unit 616 (a one-bedroom) were that it smelled a bit like mildew and there was a lot of construction happening next door that started pretty early each morning. The smell isn't unbearable, just noticeable (my four year old niece asked "why does it smell weird in here?" when we walked in). To their credit, Maui Resort Realty delivered some Febreeze for the smell, but it really didn't get rid of it completely. But not a deal-breaker or vacation ruiner. The construction is pretty loud and unescapable from this side of the building, but will reportedly be completed in March 2017.

Manhattan in Maui!! Loved it...

We (2 adults and 2 teens) stayed here 10-15-10. It's actually better than the photos. =) It's very modern in decore. It was classy and fully equipped with everything you need for 4 people. The bathroom was huge and nice. The pull out couch was perfect for our 2 teens. The living room "blacks out" perfectly for sleeping. The air works amazing. The lanai is BIG and has an ocean/sunset view. I highly recommend hitting Costco and cooking a lot here. The views are so good/relaxing. We used the bbq downstairs and it was awesome! The pools are the best. The beach out front is def coral, not sand bottom for swimming. There are plenty of nearby beaches with sand bottoms. Snorkeling at the beach out front is great. (turtles) The little cafe/market is wonderful! Dukes is pricey but good. I would come back in a second! In fact we will be back!! Thanks Chris...

Beautiful property with ocean access

Beautiful property, great location with direct beach access. The condo was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Someone must have walked off with the wine bottle opener but I just went down to the little store and they let me borrow one. We had an issue with the wifi not working. I called and left a message after hours and received a call back first thing in the morning. A technician came within 10 minutes, diagnosed the issue & had it up and running within 10 minutes. Maui rentals has excellent customer service. The condo has a great sized balcony with accordion doors that open up to make for an even larger living room area. We didnt realize till the end of our trip that there was also an accordion screen door. I get eaten up by mosquitoes and welt up badly so I kept the doors closed. But We would have left the doors open had we known about the screen door but it was pushed all the way back and had locks on it preventing from using. I thought it was a protective storm door until I was walking the property and saw someone else with their screen door in use. There is a good sized table on the balcony for eating and a partial ocean view where we saw a lot of whales 🐋swim past and a few breaching. 😍😍. There are 3 pools that got crowded very early and multiple hot tubs. The pools seem to be geared more for kids than adults. My major complaint is that there are not enough lounge chairs for the amount of people. There is plenty of space on the grass near the pools where they could add lounge chairs. We were not able to get much time at the pool during the day because people go in the morning and put belongings on the chairs and then leave the pool area to return later. Technically that is frowned upon and signs are posted to deter this behavior but there was no staff to enforce the rules as I have experienced at other resorts. The adult pool is pretty small and filled up quickly because again not enough lounge chairs. This led to us taking the Tommy Bahama chairs and cooler and bag from the room and driving up the coast stopping at many beautiful beach areas along the way. At the end of the day is when we would go to the lazy river pool for a relaxing night swim. We went on a snorkel sail cruise to Molokini with Sail Maui which I highly recommend. I have anxiety about snorkeling/swimming in the ocean.The staff was awesome and put me at ease making for the best snorkel experience as of yet. Paia Fish Market for the best fish tacos!

best location on the Maui

The condo was just as advertised. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. Nice large pool suitable for adults, with separate pool with a water slide that kids seemed to favor. Right on a long expanse of beach and boardwalk connecting different hotels. Proximity to Duke's restaurant a plus for those nights when you don't feel like getting in a card. Nothing but good things to say about this property.

Condo with great location

Very nice condo with a great location. It’s great having beach access right outside of the property along with several swimming pools on the property. The unit is very nice, clean and comfortable. My only critique is the bedroom was a bit smaller than expected from the photos and there was limited dresser drawer space to store clothes in - but with that said, the king size bed was comfortable. Overall it was a great place to base our Maui trip from.

Great property: self serve

Overall the units of this property are awesome. Well equipped, nicely furnished, especially with the indoor/outdoor feel. If you’re looking for a resort type property, this isn’t it. The property isn’t very accommodating/ service oriented. It’s more a “self serve” condo type of vibe. If you’re looking to cook your meals, bring your own drinks to the pool, this will be a great fit.

Delightful Stay

Beautiful clean and well maintained condo and property amenities. Enjoyed walking downstairs to go to beach. Great view of both the mountains and the ocean from the balcony. After hours check-in was a little confusing but easily and quickly resolved with one call to the person covering rhe bell desk.

Our dream vacation to Maui at the Honua Kia Unit 616

Our stay Honua Kai Hokulani 616 - 6th floor 1BR w / partial ocean and mountain views. We stayed from March 7 -12 and typically do not leave 5/5 star ratings however how could you not for this property. We have nothing but good things to say about our visit to the Honua Kai,, 616. Our unit couldn't have been nicer. It was spotless clean, had everything you needed to have a perfect stay. We were fortunate to watch whales playing in the ocean many mornings off our balcony while having breakfast. What else could you ask for. The staff in the resort were friendly and always had a smile on their face. We contacted Maui Resort Rentals to ask for a small extension to our check out time and we receieved a response within 30 minutes. We were shocked that they got back to us so quickly and were able to extend our stay. We stayed at another property our first week in Kihei and although we loved that unit all of the property amendities absolutely beat it by far. We were able to enjoy a few dinners at Dukes which was casual and delicious and were able to take the quick visit and Lahinia is a darling, unique town to stop into for lunch or drinks on a hot afternoon while enjoying the ocean views. The property manager for this unit has done an outstanding job at representing this property. We will absolutely be back and will absoutely request this unit.

More space than a hotel

Great location. Property was clean and beautiful. Lots of pools and green space to play. Right on the beach. BBQ grills available. Strongly encourage anyone to use them. Times supermarket was within walking distance..Only saw 1 restaurant, Dukes, on the property. Hard to get into to eat. Pricey. Room accommodations were great. Full size fridge and stove. Dishwasher and laundry. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Comfortable bed. Beach chairs and cooler were provided by the owner. Nice touch. Would definitely book again. Mahalo

This unit included two Tommy Bahama beach chairs, a beach umbrella and a cooler. We also requested a Bose speaker which the rental agency accommodated. The unit was quiet and clean.
