Bienvenido a nuestra Ohana. Ohana en hawaiano significa familia. Cuando te quedas con nosotros, eres familia. Lo único que debe hacer es reservar su boleto, alquilar el auto y llegar hasta aquí. Con los aires acondicionados recién instalados te mantendrás fresco todo el año.

Puako es una comunidad pintoresca, aislada. Al pasar por la Iglesia Hokuloa de 1852, inmediatamente sentirá que ha retrocedido a un tiempo más relajado en el viejo Hawai. Tranquilos y alejados de la multitud de turistas, solo hay 160 casas a lo largo de las dos millas de Puako Beach Drive. Nuestra unidad es una de las mejores ubicadas de los 38 condominios en Puako, con una ubicación en la planta baja y un gran lanai lateral privado (con comedor al aire libre y una barbacoa). Rodeado de exuberante vegetación y árboles frutales, estás a solo unos pasos de una hermosa y tranquila playa de arena.

Nuestra unidad cuenta con 2 hermosas lanais (delantera y lateral) y muchas ventanas con persianas que fomentan una brisa en las noches, enfriando naturalmente el espacio (y la ayuda de los ventiladores de techo en cada habitación). La cocina y los baños fueron completamente remodelados en junio de 2014. Están completamente equipados con todo lo que necesita para sentirse como en casa y sumergirse en el descanso y la relajación del espíritu de aloha. Un lugar de estacionamiento reservado está convenientemente ubicado justo en frente de la unidad. A / C está disponible.

El principal atractivo: la playa, justo al otro lado de la calle. Es perfecto para bucear y es el hogar de muchos honu (tortugas marinas). Despierte para el amanecer sobre Mauna Kea y vea a las tortugas tomando el sol en las rocas. A solo 200 metros de la puerta de tu casa. Y, en el mismo lugar, es la mejor puesta de sol en la isla. Es mágico. El arrecife Puako también es reconocido como una de las mejores áreas de buceo en todo Hawai. Stand-Up Paddleboards y kayaks están disponibles para alquilar cerca.

Cerca está la playa 69, una de nuestras favoritas. Ideal para nadar, bucear y practicar surf si el clima es bueno. Justo después de la playa 69 se encuentra la playa Hapuna, nombrada la mejor playa de Estados Unidos en 1993. ¡Y puedes llegar desde Puako sin tener que subir a la autopista! Más arriba en la carretera está el Mauna Kea Resort. Sube a la puerta de seguridad y pide un pase de playa. Luego configura tu lugar y dirígete al bar de la playa para encontrar uno de los mejores Mai Tai de la isla. O juegue al golf o al tenis en Mauna Kea, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel o Mauna Lani Resort. Todo ubicado a pocos minutos del condominio.
Aventuras en el océano (avistamiento de ballenas, nado con delfines salvajes y snorkel con manta ray) están disponibles desde la rampa para botes Puako, a cinco minutos (o menos) de su puerta.
¡La mejor parte del día es regresar de la playa o el océano y saltar en la piscina! Es refrescante y siempre con gas. We loved staying in the Puako area of the Big Island. It was very close to beautiful beaches. The condo was perfect for us and very comfortable. We had an awesome experience and would be back! Mahalo!

Quiet and off the beaten path. Liked proximity to area resorts and beaches without all the noise. Unit was well stocked for all cooking needs. Lots of beach equipment available in the unit to use. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Booking staff communicated well. Didn’t get a chance to use the outdoor pool but looked private and inviting. Would definitely stay again.

Everything was tidy, and well stocked! The community is very friendly, especially the building manager! She made sure our stay was a pleasant one, and wasn't afraid to ask if we needed help with anything. Puako is a very beautiful location, and most of all it's peaceful and quiet, which is a huge plus! Perfect place to stay without the resort price. Small, but had everything we needed, and 2 bathrooms was a definite plus. Kitchen well-stocked with tools, but bring your own water bottles. The beds were comfortable, but AC only in the master. Also supplied many of the water toys. Would rent again.

Loved the property - comfortable for a family if 5 with kids over the age of 16 and very well appointed. Everything you need is there - kitchen is great and perfect for meals. Unit is quiet and great sleep at night. There is a nice beach across the road and a short walk to beach 69 which is truly amazing. Look forward to coming back soon. Mahalo

Great place, Quiet and close to great snorkeling and beaches.

The 3 bedroom property is very nice. Close to beaches and snorkeling. We had trouble getting into the property because the entry info had not been updated on VRBO. We tried the numbers that we had and no one answered. They knew about our late arrival. They apologized for the mistake. We had a great time after getting in.

Great Location

We loved the quite neighborhood feeling and easy access to many beaches either by walking or driving. We are not "resort" people and really liked the homey feel of this unit. Very clean and well appointed with everything we needed. We are hoping to return next year with more of our family.

The condo was exactly as advertised. Made a great home base for our trip. Conveniently located near beaches and resorts. The supplied beach equipment (towels, chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.) were very much appreciated. Marla was very responsive when we needed something during our stay.

A dream come true!

Thank you so much for sharing this delightful home with us. Puako is beautiful, with several small beaches to choose from in easy walking distance. We saw seven turtles on one of our morning walks! It was a morning tradition for us to visit one sleeping turtle friend at the beach access so my daughter could sing him a lullaby (The turtles will stay on the beach with you for a long time as long as you stay a respectful distance away). Our kids, ages 6 and 8 were doted on by the lovely people at the condo and at the general store next door and felt special and loved the whole time we were there. Fresh fruit was amazing, bananas, mangos, and lines growing all over the property. We loved that there were snorkels to borrow, and children's life jackets. Several great beaches so nearby (beach 69 was my favorite, but my son loved boogie boarding at Hapuna). The condo had everything we needed and my son declared it to be the "best condo here" because of the two lanai and the AC. This place was a slice of peace and paradise. Don't forget to step outside at night and be amazed by the stars!

Nice quiet place.

The condo was basically as described. It is really two condos joined together. It is a little smaller than it seems in the pictures but not bad. Neither bathroom is joined to a master which was a little inconvenient. Access to snorkeling is one of the important things to us and there is great snorkeling there, but few if any ways to get into the water. The whole shoreline for miles is all lava. Also, be prepared for a lot of biting bugs. We went out the first night to watch the sunset and were all bit up for the rest of the trip and we were only out for about 15 minutes. Our timing was bad too as low tide was in the morning making it almost impossible to get into the water. Had we known that, we would not have chosen this location. Other than that, it was a nice place.

The condo easily accommodated 3 couples. The location in Puako was perfect for access to beaches. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The two decks provided a sun or shade place to sit or eat. Beach towels and beach chairs were available for our use. There is an electric barbecue that is easy to use. The decor was very nice.Right next door is a store that has everything you need.

Perfect for our family of 4

We had a fabulous stay at Puako Condo #101. It was well-maintained & clean with no tropical pest issues. Beds were super comfy. Bathrooms & kitchen were stocked with anything you might need. Entire unit was attractively furnished. The location is perfect, next to a general store & a short walk to two beaches. We plan to return next year-absolutely loved it!!

Great location

Nice location across from Puako beach, with good access to Saddle Road, Hapuna and Mauna Kea Beaches. The condo had some issues -- there was no land-line (an issue for Canadians who need an expensive roaming plan!) , no BBQ (although an electric grill was provided on request), smoke detector battery died during our first night (ie no one had checked it) and there were some issues with the cleaning. There was no parasol on the lanai, so it was a very hot place to eat lunch. According to the property manager, the ownership had recently changed, so there were things to iron out. Most issues were addressed by the property managers, which was appreciated. The lack of A/C was not an issue, as there was a beautiful breeze at night. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we loved the fruit trees just outside our door!! We enjoyed the oranges, bananas, lemons and limes. If you are driving a large vehicle such as a mini-van, the parking spot is a bit challenging. We did enjoy our stay, and appreciated the follow-up message from the property management regarding our issues.

No AC but Perfect on all Other Fronts

No AC and the host was difficult to communicate with but the condo is everything you'd want it to be and has a great location. Puako Beach is kinda in the middle of nothing and not close to anything but for us it delivered on what we were looking for. It IS close to the saddle road and that gets you in striking distance to EVERYthing the island has to offer. The Puako Beach area is quite and serene and there are good spots to get runs and rides in. We bought some box fans to help with air flow and left them so hopefully you'll be able to use them to keep cool! I'd definitely stay there again!

Loved the location and the condo was great

Perfect place for our family. Sarah the person who cares for the condominium complex was very friendly and very helpful information. The condo is right across the street from the beach in Puako with great tidal pools. The reef extends the whole length of Puako and there is public access at multiple locations along the road. The snorkeling was fantastic with lots of turtles, eagle rays and tons of fish. Public access between house 39 and 40 is best for turtles and the reef at the end of the road at the last public access was our favorite. The condo was perfect and well stocked. There is no air conditioning but with ceiling fans and screens it was never that hot. It was a very comfortable place and the balcony's were private and great for sitting out with a glass of wine after a long day. The pool was also very nice and most of the time we were the only ones there. My kids liked chasing the geckos and we picked and ate the mangoes every day as well as some bananas, papayas and some lemons. Overall a great place and perfect location.

Nice updates to the condo! We've stayed there several times with family, my girlfriends, hubby's golf buddies. It's a perfect location out of the bustle of the resort developments, but a short drive to all their amenities like dining, shopping and golf. Beach access right across the street, and minutes to the Big Island's top-rated beaches. And you cannot beat the rate! We feel at home the moment we walk in the door. This nice unit provides everything we need. The grounds are beautifully tended and the cute general store next door is well-stocked and friendly.

Puako (Pu-ah-ko) is a small, quaint oceanfront community on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island located about 30 miles north of Kailua-Kona and 22 miles north of the Kona airport. The island's largest white sand beach, Hapuna, is right next door.

Puako is conveniently located for visiting all the resort hotels and restaurants on the Kohala Coast. The Mauna Kea, the Fairmont Orchid, the Mauna Lani and Hilton Hotels are just minutes away with their beaches, first class restaurants, shops and world class golf courses. Kohala Divers is nearby at Kawaihae Center, and offers various ocean activities including scuba diving and sunset/afternoon sails. Kawaihae Center and Harbor are just 10 minutes by car, with several great restaurants and shops. You are close to almost any activity you may choose, with the exception of the volcano which is a 3 hour drive from Kohala.

Several fabulous beaches are minutes away. Hapuna Beach (voted best beach in Hawaii by Conde Nast Magazine) and Waialea Bay (Beach 69) both are wonderful for swimming, snorkeling and boogie boarding.

The neighborhood is called Puako, and it is conveniently located for touring all parts of the island. All homes in this neighborhood are on small acreage, so it is a very low density area. Driving time to the Kona airport is approx. 40 minutes, Kailua Kona 50 minutes, Waimea 20 minutes, Hilo 1½ hours, Captain Cook, coffee country, 1¼ hours, Hawi and Polulu Valley 20-30 minutes.

The sun shines 355 days per year and the average temperature highs are in the 80's with low's in the 60's. The ocean's edge is about 150 feet from your doorstep with crystal blue water that is 72-76 degrees year round.

Puako offers ideal fishing, snorkeling, diving, surfing and kayaking. Walking and biking is a favorite, too! Sea turtles, dolphins and whales are some of the sea life you may see. Puako offers beach style living and a real sense of getting away from it all.

Puako is rich in Hawaiian history. Walk south along the ocean trail to see the petroglyphs. There are approximately 3,000 petroglyphs scattered throughout the Puako Archaeological Fields. These pictures are etched into the lava rock that dominates the Kohala and Kona Coasts. Access to the Puako Petroglyph Park is through the adjacent Mauna Lani Resort.

The waters around Puako are extremely clear due to the fresh water run off and strong coastal currents. Divers and snorkelers can enjoy waters abundant in sea life along the shallow reef at Puako. The Puako Marine Preserve is a protected environment for endangered sea life. Green sea turtles are a protected species and should not be bothered, only enjoyed and admired. Watch the humpback whales play along the coast. Beyond Puako's reef shelf the whales play and breach during their migration to Hawaii from Alaska. It is quite a sight!
