Thanks for being such a great host Andy. The room was perfect! It was wonderful to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city, being surrounded by nature. The best thing about this stay is Makuu Point. I could have spent my whole time there. Absolutely beautiful!!

We unfortunately were not able to stay at this property due to the lack of air conditioning. We reasonably expected some form of A/C given the warm and humid climate, but this was not mentioned in the listing.Because of medical conditions, air conditioning is a requirement for us, not just a preference. Upon arrival, it became clear we could not safely remain in the room and had to leave shortly after checking in.That said, communication with the host was excellent. Andy was responsive, kind, and professional throughout the process. We did discuss the situation and our health concerns, but due to the established cancellation policy and the timing of our arrival, a refund was not possible.The property itself appears to be in a nice location with a beautiful setting, but future guests should be aware that there is no air conditioning, which may be an important consideration depending on your needs.

Great property and great location!

This is a gem of an Inn with the beach minutes away, so close that you can hear the waves! The property was clean and we had a balcony to sip our coffees in the morning. The location is excellent with the Hilo airport only about 30 minutes away and volcanos national park about 45 minutes. Andy was a great communicative host who gave us awesome recommendations of local places to see.

Excellent host and place to stay

We were greeted with a very clean room, fresh smelling towels, hand soap and shampoo along with access to an indoor washer and dryer for laundry use. The host was a super host and communicated well. We got amazing sunrise pictures a short walk from the room. Highly recommend! Great owners!!

Clean and Comfortable

It was a great stay. Host left us a personalize note and some fresh fruit. Just a short walk to the ocean. I loved the sound of the frogs at night and the birds in the morning.

Simple, clean, affordable

This was a great, simple rental for our Hawaii trip. Travelers should note there is no air conditioning and the frogs outside will keep you up if you don’t use the fan! The unit is very small, but clean and well kept. The location is only a 5 minute walk to Makuu Point for beautiful sunrises!

The property was really easy to get to and was really nice having concrete driveway to pull in to. The host was very responsive and helpful when I had a question. We really enjoyed being able to hear the ocean every morning and having coffee .

Excellent Stay!!

Thank you for the great stay! Excellent location! We enjoyed the short walk to Maku’u Point. The lanai was great for a bbq! Having use of the washer and dryer was also amazing! Everything was clean with a comfortable bed along with all the amenities. Thank you! Ron and Jessica

Friendly, Nice place, Great Location

Clean, functional place, peekaboo ocean view from the top porch, very friendly, non-intrusive landlord. His suggestions to visit the nearby coast were the best. The location is somewhat secluded and the waves and nearby tropical forests were stunning. Whales, turtles, tidal pools, all within minutes. People are very friendly in the area. Recommended!

Restful vacation haven near the near the ocean

Clean and comfortable setting in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the lava shoreline and minutes to Pahoa. We loved the natural sounds about including the songs of the chirping frogs at night. Andy was very responsive and provided great recommendations for local sites and restaurants. Highly recommend! Thoughtful touches made this day feel special for us. Look forward to coming back!

Good stay

Quite clean, nice and quiet, the location a bit far from Hilo but very good if you are interested in volcano tours and visits. The directions were clear and precise difficult to get wrong. We entered late in the evening in the dark.

Beautiful small park nearby to watch sunrise.

Very clean comfortable stay. As advertised and photos accurate. Enjoyed sunrises from the park mentioned a very short walk from our room. So quiet and beautiful!! Check in instructions were very clear. Had a clean laundry facility that we didn't use, but would be a plus for those seeking laundry options. Close to what we had planned for site seeing, but far enough out to enjoy a quieter atmosphere and the beautiful sunrises.

Very quiet and safe neighborhood. Owner very quick to respond and help. Place is kept neat and clean. Owner keeps umbrellas, snorkeling gear, etc. In laundry room for guests to use. No TV. Cooling comes from opening both doors and a stand fan. Great balcony on 2nd floor where we were.

Wonderful hosts. Peaceful and beautiful

The property is well cared for and the hosts are extremely nice and caring. They told me where I could see whales and I actually did! Walkable! The ocean is right across the street and it gets cold enough at night to keep the sliding door open and you can hear it, gently. Very soothing. The area is cute, lots of yummy restaurants and shopping from 15-30 min away depending on if you go to Hilo or Pahoa. There was no tv in my room which might be an issue for you but I actually prefer :)

The Sunrise View

The room was perfectly fine. We were concerned about not having air conditioning, but it was not an issue! There is a good enough breeze, and there is a fan available. It would have been nice to have a ceiling fan, but it did not bother us too much. This stay is absolutely made by the 5 minute walk to Makuu Point to see the sunrise. The room itself was fine, but the location's proximity to Makuu Point made it amazing! This would be best suited for a short stay, in my opinion, because of the small quarters - but it was perfect for our one-night stay before heading to Volcano National Park. Overall, it was great!

Reasonable in Hawaii

The one we used was a one-bedroom type. I thought the room would have a kitchen, but the only thing in the room was a microwave and refrigerator. We were provided with glasses, but there were no plates or cutlery, so we had to bring our own. Since the kitchen is always available, it turned out to be a very disappointing dinner. Although it is close to the beach, you can't see the ocean from your room, and there are no other views. I felt like there was no point in staying here, even though it's in a relatively remote area away from the city of Hilo. Do you prioritize price? Do you prioritize satisfaction? This is a problem. In particular, I felt that accommodation fees on Hawaii Island were 50% higher than other tourist destinations.

Prior this guest's arrival, we had email her there is no Kitchen with the private suite she booked, and we told her if she really want a full kitchen, please book the two bedroom apartment instead. But she insisted that she wanted this type of room, and want to use the kitchen which inside two bedroom apartment other guests had booked. We provided paper plates and disposal cutlery for every guests, and in addition, we provided two glasses for her to drink wines, but she is still not satisfied, She wants everything to be premium quality, more than the 5 Star hotel standard, but refuse to pay the equal price.

Nice location near the cliffs

Easy check in, newer property in nice location. Was able to hear the waves crashing into the rocks at night. Was a quick walk in the morning to see the sunrise. Overall great stay

Ocean View Inn

We only stayed one night, but this was a very nice place to stay, clean & comfortable. We were happy there was a little laundry room too. Wish we could’ve stayed longer!
