We had a group of 6 couples and the home fit our needs very well. We took a couple lake cruises on our pontoon and enjoyed the fire pit down by the lake also. The upper and lower level kitchens were great for a group as large as ours. The big kitchen table was perfect for our large group to sit around and play card games. We had a couple minor issues and communicated them with the host and the issues were dealt with.

Smoke detector was beeping because of low battery- had to spend time looking for it. Severe peeling paint around tub and other areas in upstairs bathroom. Was relatively clean but carpet was sure dirty. Different colored boards ( and thicker boards) used to patch areas on deck. Looks like the place needs some serious maintenance. Closet door was off the hinges downstairs because of previous “quick” repair. Certainly overpriced considering the overall condition. Nice building/location but poorly maintained.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the home and its beautiful location on the Chippewa Flowage, but we're disappointed to receive a 2-star review. We certainly understand your frustration with the smoke detector battery, but unfortunately, batteries can go out unexpectedly, just as they do in our own homes. When you notified us, we promptly sent someone out to replace it. Regarding the downstairs closet door, I do want to clarify that it was in working order before your arrival and was damaged during your stay. Our maintenance team repaired it afterward, and we did not charge you for the damage. As for the deck, we had replaced several boards just before your arrival to ensure it was safe. The new boards had not yet been stained, which explains the difference in appearance. This is one of our most popular properties, and it was booked nearly nonstop throughout the summer. We've since completed a thorough deep cleaning and addressed the maintenance items you mentioned, including the bathroom and carpeting. It's also worth mentioning that there are very few lakefront homes on the Chippewa Flowage that can accommodate groups this large. We intentionally price this home very affordably compared to other properties of similar size and sleeping capacity, making it a great option for larger families and groups who want to enjoy the lake without spending a fortune. While we certainly acknowledge that there were some cosmetic items needin

We enjoyed our time here. Loved the open space of the main living area and the view of the lake was beautiful. Was quiet and peaceful by the lake.

Nonfunctioning toilet most of weekend - I feel if you rent out properties someone should be on call 24/7 to address issues. Only property we’ve been to that you had to make your own beds. House was nice, parking was good, dock was nice. There was ample amount of trash bags, pods, t-paper. Good amount of seating inside and out. Would be nice if bath towels were provided.

Great family getaway

Buckhorn Lodge was the perfect spot for our family to spend a long weekend. Plenty of room and beautiful setting. Would like to return in the summer to take advantage of the beautiful lake.

Very Wonerful place

Our stay at this cabinet was wonderful everything was clean. Owner was very easy to deal with and Cabin was very well stocked. We definitely would like to go back.

Winter Get Away

This is the 3rd time we have stayed in the house and really enjoy it. It has enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone! It is nicely located to Hayward! We enjoy the home every time we stay here!

Great house for a large family

The house was awesome for our large group. Plenty of space, beds for everyone, and the extra kitchen/refrigerator was awesome. Great option for a week at the lake!

Girls trip

The cabin was perfect for our girls getaway. Lots of bedrooms and seating. Also close to Hayward for a quick trip in if need anything.

Nice and quiet

Eight of us stayed comfortably for a few days. The large common area and spacious decks were much appreciated areas for reminiscing on family events of the past, and the late September pontoon rides were wonderful.

Couples Weekend

Property managers were very easy to work with. Very responsive. Enjoyed the layout of the cabin. Fishing was good and the lake was beautiful. Will definitely be back again!

great property and lake front. There are not many 3 master suites in one property available. Awesome place for multi families

Spacious cabin

We had a great stay, the cabin is huge and had plenty of room for our group. Beds were comfortable. The flooring and kitchen are worn and need updating but if you need lots of bedrooms & bathrooms and don’t need upscale accommodations this is a good option.

We did a multi family snowmobile trip to Jon's property on Chief Lake. The property had plenty of room, entertainment for the kids, and plenty of room for trailers! Jon was very helpful when getting the property warmed up during one of the coldest days I can! The owners were very responsive and communication was excellent!The trails were easily accessible with about a half mile on road. There was plenty of places to go and see and I'd like to do this area again to explore more. Please stay safe when riding!On the date of our check-out we ran into vehicle start issues and they were very accommodating (above and beyond) to ensure we weren't rushed or stuck out in the cold! Recommend Jon's place on Chief for snowmobilers too!
