Never got information from host. I had to message him and ask what was going on that he was suppose to have sent us the information prior to our arrival. So we did not get in til 4:15. Door keys and door codes did not work right, it was a major hassle. After we got in and unpacked, we went to try and make dinner but there were no kitchen utensils so we had to go out and spend money we did not intend on for dinner left early cause we could not cook breakfast. The neighbourhood was scary. Will not go back to that area and would recommend people avoid this one. The bedrooms bedding were fine, we were comfortable. Bathroom nice.

Not as described

I booked from Saturday to Friday.The listing per night was the same as a place I stayed the year before, so I thought the quality would be similar.I wasn't able to make the Saturday night as there was an issue but I said I would still pay for the Saturday night as that way I can check in before 3 as I was going to be there around noon.Texted at 12 to say I'd be there in an hour.The entrance is not a house; it is an old storefront with apartments upstairs. The process to unlock the lock box and then get upstairs was a bit messy, as I wasn't expecting to carry any luggage up a flight of stairs and park on the street. When we got upstairs to unlock the front door, the lock was over the latch, meaning we could unlock but it was latched from the inside. Was I informed that it was still being cleaned? But I was supposed to be there the day before. I think the owner had it booked the night before and was collecting 2 payments for Saturday. Then I was informed by the owner that they just needed to get a "new" key, which is why it wasn't open.All that, and it had a strong cat pee smell and a smoke smell. Once inside, the smell wasn't as strong, but the air conditioning hose was outside a window without a screen or any barrier between the room and the outside. This was also located right next to the bed. The back staircase was dirty and smelly, and it led to the "hottub." The bedding had cigarette burn holes, found dirty underwhere under the bed etc. stay away

Place to stay, but nothing fancy.

This is an apartment over a not yet developed commercial space. While the apartment is air conditioned, the two front windows were open and the cranks were missing so they couldn’t be closed. There is no direct access to the outdoor space, you have to go around the corner and enter through the back gate. We would have liked to have seen more than one spoon available, and a toaster would have been nice. There were four of us, but only three chairs for the table. The three beds were comfortable.The area is becoming trendy, with a couple of good restaurants close by.

The owner cancelled the booking an hour before giving the property, didn't respond to any messages or calls, keeping the tourist in the new town high and dry. Extremely bad service, this could have been avoided if he kept me posted in advance and canceled the booking, I would have happily gone with other accommodation or canceled the trip. Since it was very last moment the cost of stay was double than original cost.

Above and beyond

Booked a night here last minute and still received quick responses, excellent service and a great stay! Highly recommend for solo travellers or groups, will be going again one day.
