Our home is a hub of connection for artists, musicians, designers & engineers - those interested in sustainable urban spaces.



We have four rooms to choose from, this being the premium with it's own luxury bathroom.



Nature helps you thrive here ♡



The Space:

Our home is an eco designer home, with beautiful recycled rimu floors throughout (laid by myself!).



The garden is a flourishing food forest that has different foods and herbs every season - guests are welcome to enjoy sharing in our harvest.



Our resident bees provide us with healthy honey to support the immune system. We also offer experiences including honey harvesting.



A stunning Western outlook with distant kaimai ranges, & bold sunsets, complete with fire pit for long summer evenings toasting marshmallows. In winter, the lounge still gets the views, but you can keep warm by the indoor fireplace in our Wellness Corner, where you can enjoy an massage or foot spa.



Our two sweet little dogs greet everyone when they arrive to the house, demanding pats & love. And the two cats have their own little personalities.



People who enjoy nature & supporting biodiversity love to stay here. We have many chats about all things art, design, music - some musicians who have stayed have enjoyed playing a few tunes on the piano or guitar.



I'm sure you'll adore your time in Tauranga when based around our Otumoetai homestay BnB.



Guest Access:

You have a private room, with attached ensuite and private entrance.



Open plan kitchen/dining/lounge spaces for connecting with host and other guests.



Multiple outdoor living spaces, shared.



Shared laundry facilities.



It is expected that guests will respect all spaces by cleaning up after themselves, before leaving the room, leaving the space as per listing photos. This helps us maintain a clean and tidy standard at all times.



One carpark is reserved for the Private Suite room. Please park as far to one side as possible so the second space can be used as a drop off zone for the host, other guests & staff.



The Neighborhood:

The neighborhood is a typical family environment. Friendly, relaxed and enjoyable with nice little walks and parks close by. All the usual conveniences such as gas stations, supermarkets, local pubs, and restaurants.



Getting Around:

Get from A to B on foot, bicycle, uber, private vehicle, public transport, lime scooter. The home is located perfectly for ease of experiencing all the Bay of Plenty activities available.



Guests are welcome to use the household bicycles.



Other Things to Note:

We have a detailed Welcome Card to refer to during your stay. You are provided with a copy in your room, & there is also a copy on the kitchen island. Some main points:



- Parking: The driveway area is used as a loading zone for other guests and your host. Please park as far to one side as possible to allow space for a second vehicle to easily access the driveway.



- Breakfast: Help yourself to breakfast during your stay between 6am & 9.30am. Everything is clearly labeled / easy to find *BREAKFAST/SHARE SHELF/TEA/COFFEE/FRUIT PLATTER these items are available for guest use.



- Tea & Coffee: Available for you to enjoy at any time.



- Garden Produce: Feel free to harvest organic seasonal fruits & herbs from the garden for use during your stay. Harvest only what you will use immediately & consider quantities used as this is a resource to share.



- Bins: Please make sure you are managing your waste correctly as per our detailed Welcome Card, & note on the bin drawer. Extra charges incurred if the host needs to clean out bins & sort waste so please check if unsure.

Food waste is ALL managed on site (and its super easy!) Many guests copy our systems when they return home because they love it so much.



- Kitchen & Water: Gas cooking & water heating. Enjoy mains pressure water (guests love the shower). Use gas & water efficiently so as not to waste our precious resources. The kitchen includes an instant boiling tap for tea, & the fridge offers ice & filtered water dispensers. Please use the dishwasher to keep the countertops clear, put away any dishes done by hand immediately.



- Animals on site: 2 small/medium dogs, 2 cats, ducks, 2 hens, honeybees. Animals must be secured in fenced areas. The fur babies love cuddles ♡

- Board Games: lots of board games, cards etc. to choose from in the GAMES cupboard.



- TV: Access TVNZ, Three Now, YouTube, Netflix, Disney, and more for your entertainment (please G on the lounge TV)

*We have a projector for hire if you want to watch a movie in your room, paid separately on site.



- This is an active & social family home with occasional visits from family and friends, especially during holidays. If you have any special requirements, please discuss when you send your booking request so we can ensure you have a wonderful stay.



- Shared Spaces: Please be considerate in shared spaces by cleaning up after yourself immediately before leaving the room.



- Bookable Experiences: camp gear hire, paddleboard hire, bicycle hire, pottery, honey harvesting, outdoor fire night. Must be booked in advance. Subject to availability. Paid separately on site *credit card fees apply unless paying directly into account.



*We cannot guarantee that your booking request will be accepted as we rent out the entire home, and rooms individually, so please allow as much notice as possible to have the best chance to secure your booking.



Interaction with Guests:

You have a live in host who is available by phone or in person.



Just reach out anytime if you need help with anything.



If guests prefer to keep to themselves, that space is respected. And if guests like to hang out and have a chat, that is welcomed.

Melissa's house is very welcoming. It is nice, comfortable, and Melissa makes it warm. She has a few animals (ducks, goose, hens, dogs, cats and now bees) which give the place a farm-ish feeling. We had a great time at Melissa's place, thanks a lot!
