Great getaway location

We're a family of 4 (2 high school/college kids) + dog who spent a week at Gone Shellin for spring break. It was our first time on Cape San Blas. The house was great - it had everything we needed for a very relaxing week. Location is amazing - steps from the beach and you can walk and bike to little shops for food, groceries, etc. Would definitely rebook!

The owner Carol was such a great host and didn't hesitate to make sure we had a great stay. This is just a few steps from the most beautiful, uncrowded beach. We will definitely visit again soon!

We are so fortunate to have found it 3 years ago and Gone Shellin was the most convenient of our yearly rentals. It had EVERYTHING we needed and was so very close to the beach. The decor was nice and the whole place was very comfortable. If I could make one suggestion it would be to screen in the deck. But that certainly won't keep me from staying here again!

Coastal Joe is a very good rental agency, by far the best on the Cape.

Gone Shellin is a bit cluttered for our taste, but is very well positioned on the cape. The actual shelling seems to be finally recovering from Deepwater Horizon disaster, and the beach renourishment worked.

Reviewer Comments: We just completed our 3rd stay at Coastal Joes and it is always a joy for us to stay there:) Next year we are brining along a knife sharpener...The view is wonderful even tho it is not directly on the water. I would definitely recommend Coastal Joes to a friend but not while we are there. Our winters belong in Cape San Blas while staying in Coastal Joes:)

Not crowded during our September 17-21 stay. My dog had just as much fun as we did 🤣 Duplex was nice and cozy. Kitchen had all basics and bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely will be back!!

A few details still need attention, but nothing major is wrong. We left a corkscrew, it needed one. Still could use a church key. Small stuff!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: With its short walk to the dog friendly beach and view of the ocean, this place is a good value for the price. That said, it could use an overall refurbishing. All is functional, but dated and well used. Unfortunately, it was not very clean, the stove top, refrigerator exterior, throw rugs, place mats and trash can were uncomfortably dirty.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. We really wish you would have called at some point during your stay so we could have addressed the issue. The owner is constantly updating, and is always willing to accept feedback when it comes to improving her home. After an extremely busy season, Gone Shellin' was able to be deep cleaned in mid Dec.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Gone Shellin has a good location with only a few steps to the boardwalk. The rental was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The porch has a decent view of the gulf between the two houses in front of it. This rental is pet friendly, but the porch does not have a puppy gate, which would have been more convenient. We would definitely rent again because of the close location to the beach. We were quite pleased with this vacation rental.

A Paradise.........

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This has been our 5th time to Cape San Blas and it never grows weary. Gone Shellin is perfect for us. We play games on the deck and having a washer/dryer is always a plus:) We wish it would be a bit cleaner but that is something we can live with. I would recommend Gone Shellin to friends but be sure I did not recommend it a time we were not needing it:)

Reviewer Comments: The condo has its normal small issues, grill nonfunctional, no can opener, but, someone has added about 4" thick soft foam pads on top of the mattresses, you can not sit on edge of bed to put on socks, you lean, and once you mastered the climb, you are trapped, can not move around in bed

Wouldn't recommend after the 4th stay in this home? The owner of Gone Shellin' is extremely attentive and always open to suggestions, however we cannot correct the issue if we're not told about it. The other reviews for this home speaks for themselves. Some people just feel the need to complain no matter the circumstances, but the combative and demeaning correspondence before arrival, and after departure were simply not called for. We wish you the best of luck with your next accommodation.
