Harbour Bridge Views, a King Bed & a French Press
A beautifully appointed one-bedroom apartment on the west side of iconic Princes Wharf, with genuine Harbour Bridge and Viaduct views from the private balcony. King bed with premium bedding, full-height windows flooding the open-plan living with harbour light, a French press for your morning coffee, and in-unit laundry for longer stays. Auckland`s best waterfront dining is right on the doorstep.
The west side of Princes Wharf has a particular reward: clear, uninterrupted sightlines towards the Auckland Harbour Bridge, with the changing lights of the bridge reflected in the harbour below as the evening settles in. This beautifully appointed one-bedroom apartment makes the most of that western aspect — a private balcony, full-height windows across the open-plan living area, where guests consistently describe the space as spacious, well-equipped, and genuinely comfortable.
The king bed is dressed in premium bedding and positioned in a proper separate bedroom — not a studio layout, but a real bedroom with genuine privacy, giving the apartment a quality of separation between sleeping and living that makes both feel more generous. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge is light-filled and well proportioned, with full-height windows that frame the Harbour Bridge outlook and make the living area feel considerably larger than its footprint. A private balcony extends the space outward — a perfect spot for morning coffee or an evening drink with the bridge and the movement of the harbour as your backdrop.
Mornings here start properly — a genuine French press is provided, and there is something particularly satisfying about that first cup with the Harbour Bridge framed in the window. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering: stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and all the cooking essentials you need. In-unit laundry facilities in the bathroom make this equally practical for longer stays or guests arriving with a week`s worth of luggage.
Air conditioning, unlimited high-speed WiFi, a Smart TV, and a starter pack of supplies complete a package that has earned its near-perfect rating by genuinely delivering on what it promises — a spacious, well-finished, well-located apartment with a view that gets better as the day winds down.
Princes Wharf has been part of Auckland`s story since 1929, when it was formally opened by Earl Jellicoe as a two-storey concrete wharf — at the time, an engineering first for the city. For decades it was Auckland`s window to the world: cargo ships from Britain, Asia, and South America, ocean liners bringing emigrants and returning servicemen, and during the Second World War, a working base for United States forces supporting the Pacific campaign. For generations of Aucklanders, this was the place you came to farewell someone leaving for the other side of the world — or to welcome them home.
In 1998, a major redevelopment designed by Leuschke Group Architects transformed the wharf while preserving its long concrete bones — six interconnected heritage shed buildings, including Shed 22, now house apartments, restaurants, and retail above what was once a working cargo dock. Today the wharf is one of the city`s most recognisable destinations, with the five-star Hilton Auckland anchoring the seaward end and free public viewing decks at the tip of the wharf offering some of the most serene harbour vantage points in the city, with sightlines stretching to Rangitoto Island and the Hauraki Gulf.

Princes Wharf itself is a dining destination in its own right, and you genuinely don`t need to leave the wharf for a memorable night out. Somm offers serious wine tasting alongside its menu, Wahlburgers brings its famous family-recipe burgers right to the water`s edge, and a string of waterfront restaurants serve everything from long, unhurried harbour-view lunches to special-occasion fine dining with fireplaces and sweeping outdoor terraces. The wharf`s nautically-inspired architecture and polished waterfront character give it a distinct quality quite different from the more boisterous energy of the Viaduct just around the corner.
The Viaduct Harbour`s celebrated restaurant and bar strip is a five-minute walk west, with Baduzzi, Hello Beasty, Giraffe, and a host of excellent bars and wine rooms. Commercial Bay`s flagship retail and dining complex and Britomart`s cobblestoned laneway precinct are both within easy reach. The New Zealand Maritime Museum sits right at the base of the wharf — worthwhile for anyone curious about the seafaring history that shaped this city — and the Auckland Ferry Terminal is close by with daily services to Waiheke Island, Devonport, and the Hauraki Gulf. A morning ferry crossing to Waiheke for wine, food, and beaches is one of the genuinely great Auckland day experiences.
Auckland is easily explored from Princes Wharf. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is a short walk with regular services to Waiheke Island, Devonport, and the Hauraki Gulf. Britomart Transport Centre connects the full train network. Uber and taxis are plentiful throughout the waterfront precinct at all hours. There is no car park with this apartment — paid public parking is available nearby in the Viaduct and CBD. Auckland Airport is approximately 30 to 40 minutes by car or shuttle.
Given the west side position, the Harbour Bridge view comes into its own in the late afternoon and evening as the bridge lights activate — guests who have stayed here tend to mention this as one of their favourite moments of the stay.
Please note that views and access may occasionally be affected when cruise ships are docked at the wharf — this is managed by the Ports of Auckland and outside our control, but we will always let you know in advance if we`re aware of any disruption during your stay.
