Lake Ōkareka Retreat | Spa Pool & Games Room

Summary:

Settle into a peaceful Lake Ōkareka holiday at Green Haven - a spacious five-bedroom home with lake views, a private spa pool, and a converted garage games room with pool table and foosball. A bathroom on every level and a separate self-contained studio make it an easy fit for large families, multi-family groups, or three couples travelling together. Just a few hundred metres from the lake, with off-street parking for boats.



The Space:

The home spreads across three levels, giving everyone room to breathe.



The middle floor holds the open-plan kitchen, dining and main living area, with large windows capturing the lake outlook and a separate TV lounge that closes off with sliding doors. The kitchen is set up for proper holiday cooking - double wall oven, coffee machine, air fryer, sandwich press, and filtered water from the fridge. The eight-seat dining table flows straight out to the deck and outdoor dining area.



Upstairs sit the master bedroom (electric Californian King with massage function, private deck, lake view, smart TV, AC, ensuite), bedroom two (a children's room with double-and-single bunk), and a dedicated workspace for guests who need to stay connected.



The second level holds bedroom three (Super King looking out to native bush) and bedroom four (King with lake and tennis-court outlook), plus the main bathroom with a separate spa bath, and the laundry.



Downstairs, the garage has been converted into a games room with pool table, foosball, and dartboard. The self-contained studio sleeps two more on a queen bed and has its own kitchenette, bathroom, and lounge. Heated bathroom floors throughout. Firewood is supplied for the wood burner in the TV lounge.



Outside, the private spa pool sits on a covered deck - perfect for soaking under the stars after a day on the lake. The huge outdoor table seats the whole group for alfresco dining, and the generous back yard has space for kids, lawn games, and three boats up the driveway if needed.



The home is best suited to guests comfortable with stairs - they're unavoidable across the three levels - but a bathroom on each floor means no queuing, even with 13 guests.



Guest Access:

Guests have the full run of the home, including the spa pool, games room, outdoor areas and parking. One side of the garage is locked off for the owners' personal storage and is not accessible to guests.



The Neighborhood:

Lake Ōkareka is one of Rotorua's quietest and most sought-after lake communities - tucked away in native bush, with the lake just a few hundred metres down the road. The lake is ideal for swimming, kayaking, fishing, and stand-up paddleboarding, and the loop walk around the edge is a favourite. Tennis courts sit just down the road, Whakarewarewa Forest with its mountain-bike trails and the Redwoods is a short drive away, and Mt Tarawera dominates the skyline. Despite the peace, central Rotorua, the lakefront restaurants, and the geothermal attractions are all an easy 15-minute drive.



Getting Around:

A car is the easiest way to get around - it's about 10 minutes into central Rotorua and a short drive to most of the lakes and forest trails. There's room for several vehicles plus a boat in the driveway. Rotorua Airport is roughly 20 minutes by car.
