- Launch kayaks or tubes into the river from the house for a leisurely float down to Curtis Switch boat ramp, Horseshoe Bend Park, or the cities of McCaysville & Copperhill, or launch at the Lake Blue Ridge dam to arrive at the house by boat
- Have a picnic and campfire while watching the herons, eagles, and hawks flying along the river

The home has a large screened-in porch facing the river with lounge chairs and an dining table. Amenities in the lawn / along the river bank include a patio with Weber gas grill, a large picnic table, horseshoe pits, 2-person swing, and a fire pit with seating for 6.
