Flagstaff Mountain Cottage

You will love our property, it is truly a hidden gem, it feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet is only a few minutes drive into downtown Flagstaff. We are extremely close to Snow Bowl, less than an hour from the Grand Canyon, less than an hour from Sedona, and there are countless places you can visit and explore. There are activities and sights to see all year round.

This is a very special property that is maintained and managed by the owners of the property, and we live in the main house, which is a separate building from the cottage. It is a sparkling clean single level cottage with no stairs situated on over 3 acres. There is parking right out front, stunning views and all you need for an amazing vacation. A photographers dream so bring your camera and enjoy a truly unique and special experience. Many of our guests have commented about their “magical” stay at Mountain Cottage. If you love nature and easy access to town this is the place for you.

You will love amenities like a full kitchen for meals, a full bath, a queen size bed, a queen sized sofa bed in the living area that is perfect for extra guests. There is a cozy wood stove for chilly nights. Of course there is also a gas furnace. There is WiFi if you need to do a little business and a smart TV so you can link to all your streaming sites. Coffee, tea, sugar, and spices are included for your enjoyment. The cottage has a separate locked mudroom area accessible from both inside and outside - that is great for bikes, snow and outdoor gear. Use of the laundry room is available upon request. We are on well water and need to be water wise so please try to limit yourself to 1-2 loads max.

A large private patio with your own BBQ and patio table is a perfect spot to unwind and take in the panoramic views of the San Francisco Peaks and surrounding forest. Elk sometimes roam in the meadow and are frequent visitors from Spring through Fall along with a multitude of birds and other wildlife.

Easy access from Hwy 180 to downtown Flagstaff, the San Francisco Peaks and the Grand Canyon. During winter months we would recommend all-wheel, 4-wheel, or front wheel drive vehicles.

The cottage was great! Everything was very organized and easy to find. The bed was super comfortable and the view was amazing. We would definitely stay there again. The location is out of town but still close to everything. Very quiet and peaceful. One of the best VRBO's we have stayed in.

Lovely Peaceful Get Away

They stay was awesome, just like the last time we stayed here. The house is small but very comfortable and very clean and just what we wanted. The view is amazing! We sat enjoying our coffee/breakfast looking out at the field and mountains. The hosts were very responsive and friendly as well.

Great Retreat!

This is an amazing cottage in the woods, close enough to the city, yet quiet & remote enough to block it out. The hosts are friendly and pleasant, the cottage is clean, with everything necessary for a great stay. This is my second rental on this cottage and will be routine for summer get-a-way!! The view is spectacular!

LOVED this little place. It’s actually bigger than it seems in photos. Super super cozy and comfortable, with everything you may need in the kitchen, bathroom, the whole house has all the essentials. The view is one of a kind. Absolutely stunning. The owners were kind and communicative. I can’t wait to be back. It was such a great weekend.

Peaceful Visit

nice studio facility. Everything clean. Very comfortable bed. Kitchen small but everything we needed was there. Owners friendly and very responsive and respected our privacy. Only negative was the extremely poor road ( LOTS of potholes) but ok if driving 5-10 mph. Overall a great visit - we would rent here again!

Peaceful Retreat

This is the fourth time I have stayed at this beautiful mountain cabin. The last two times with my spouse. We look forward to returning every year, sitting on the patio, looking at nature and enjoying the thunder echo throughout the mountain valley. Nothing could be more peaceful. The cabin is clean and has everything we needed. The hosts are respectful and pleasant.

amazing meadow

There is a stunning view looking out the double door window....the changing light on the mountain and big meadow was a delight. Evening elk in the meadow were fascinating. The all in one small house is plain but comfortable. The kitchen and bath are well organized nice spaces. The owners, who live next door are very nice. This house is in a neighborhood with others close around it, not out in a meadow by itself. There is an easy 10 min drive into Flagstaff.

Quiet forest property, but close enough to go Downtown

This is our 2nd stay at this property. The view is fantastic, the neighborhood is quiet, the hosts are lovely without being intrusive. You see deer and many birds. At night you hear the coyotes howl. It is close enough to go to dinner downtown. We went to Whole Foods and bought grab n' go and salads so we didn't have to cook. But kitchen is fully stocked. If this is the kind of get away you are looking for, you should rent this property. It is probably great for a ski vacation as well, it is close to Snowbowl.

The pictures are exactly what it feels like to be there. I stayed the weekend to celebrate my 55th birthday. I wanted peace and quiet and a beautiful view. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Well appointed...everything you need. Lots of nearby hiking options. And if you need something from the store, Flagstaff is 12 to 15 minutes away. I will definitely be going back. There are other cabins/homes close by, but mostly behind and to the west. Very private.

PERFECT WINTER GETAWAY!

The perfect getaway from our routine life! Super clean property! Perfectly hidden away- 10 minutes from shopping and restaurants. Hosts were kind, patient, and accommodating. A foot of snow on our first night- Hosts arranged for plowing and shoveling in advance…. Maintained perfect accessibility.! The view was amazing.! Perfect amount of privacy. The location was a magical winter wonderland! Highly recommended!!! Can’t wait to try a spring visit!

Cute little home with a gorgeous view.

An unexpected power outage occurred that left us without power (electricity, hot water, and a furnace) on Thanksgiving Day from the late morning hours until approximately 10:30pm. I’m disappointed in how the situation was handled by the owners. There was a lack of integrity—promises made for ‘making it right’ that were not delivered upon and being accused of bribing the owners with a free night for a good review. A $50 reimbursement did not seem justifiable as ‘making it right’ and I was simply hoping they would reconsider and offer fair reimbursement for the holiday.

Yes a power outage occured during your stay. Unfortunately everything else in your review simply is not true. We provided you with a generator which provided hot water to you. The stove works during power outages, and the wood burning stove kept the unit warm. We offered you a refund if you wanted to go to a hotel and even offered to pay for the hotel but you said you wanted to stay. When you checked out you asked for a refund but we explained to you that the refund offered was only if you had chosen to leave. We gave you a $50 refund for the inconvenience of some food items you said went bad in the fridge. You sent us a message stating if we didn't refund you more money you were going to leave us a bad review. We apologize that the power outage occurred however it was completely out of our control and we communicated with you and the power company throughout the entire day and worked with you to make the best of the situation. We don't feel your review is fair or accurate.

Jeff has spent the last 15 years working in the film and television industry. Alyssa has been a nurse for over 10 years, but currently is a stay at home Mom and helps maintain the rental property. We moved back to Flagstaff which is Jeff's childhood town, to raise our little ones close to family.

Views of the San Francisco Peaks are unsurpassed, arguably one of the best views in town of the Peaks. We are 7 miles from downtown Flagstaff, 1/2 mile from Snowbowl Rd and less than an hour from the Grand Canyon & Sedona. Biking, hiking, and winter sports are out your front door. The home is fully equipped for creating meals, having fun and enjoying the natural setting. No more waiting in Flagstaff traffic when coming and going from alpine adventures. With the dark skies out here you can see the Milky Way and beyond. Gorgeous views, and skies, this is a beautiful place to connect, unwind, and recharge.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This home is a hidden gem in a rural area surrounded by undeveloped Forest Service land. The property has easy access from Hwy 180 by Forest Service and privately maintained roads. There are a few other ranch homes in the area so drive slow (10 mph) and watch for children and wildlife. Please be mindful of the environment, respect the privacy of our neighbors and comply with quiet times.

You are staying in one the most scenic spots in Northern Arizona. The San Francisco Peaks are right in front of you. At the fence line on the far side of the meadow is Forest Service Land that stretches all the way to the Grand Canyon.

There are many hiking, biking, and winter sports adventures right out your door. There are local magazines and information for you in the house to help you explore.

We are close to the Grand Canyon, Arizona Snowbowl (with scenic sky ride, high speed chairlifts and amazing family winter ski and snowboard terrain) the Lava Caves, the Arizona Trail, Hart Prairie, Red Mountain, Sunset Crater, Wapatki, Meteor Crater, the list goes on.

The Ski Lift Lodge is on the corner of Snowbowl Rd and Hwy 180. They have a nice, relatively affordable menu and full bar. BBQ wings night on Thursday is a locals favorite.

If you need city life there is shopping, fabulous dining, music, and nightlife in historic downtown Flagstaff. There is a convenience store at the Shell gas station 2 miles east on Hwy 180 going toward town. Bashas is the closest supermarket and is located on the corner of Hwy 180 and Humphreys St. Whole Foods, Sprouts and Natural Grocers are close by too.
