Charming home in the Hungarian countryside

This home was well appointed for the 5 of us with all we needed for a 5-night stay. We were able to cook, do laundry and just relax here. The host and neighbors were very welcoming and after a few long day trips, it was great to come home to this beautiful place to rest and relax in the peace and quiet of the country setting. Tatabanya was a great location for exploring Hungary. It is close enough to make day trips to Budapest, Lake Balaton, Estergom and even Bratislava and Vienna if you're up for a bit longer drive to a nearby country. We really enjoyed our stay here and can't wait to come back!

Lovely home close to downtown but far enough away for peace and quiet.

We stayed here in early April after 2 weeks in France. It was great to be back in a house where we could rest and relax while planning our sightseeing adventures in the area. This home is close to Vienna, Budapest and the Lake Balaton region, so it is a perfect base for doing day trips to these places. Don't miss the Szelem Cave, Turul Eagle monument and the old mining headframe--climb to the top for a spectacular view of the area! We had everything we needed at the house--well-appointed kitchen, washing machine, Internet access and a large yard with blossoming fruit trees! We were very happy with our stay here, and would definitely come back again. Side note: loved the shades being on the outside of the windows instead of inside--much nicer! We should do that in the US. Thank you Tibor and Doina for this wonderful vacation home!

Wonderful country home

We recently finished our european trip with a stay in Tatabanya, Hungary. We wanted to visit Budapest and Vienna and this home is conveniently located between these two cities. Tatabanya is a very nice town with great sites to visit, wonderful restaurants and very friendly people. We had been staying in hotels for most of our trip and it was great to stay in this cozy home with a well appointed kitchen and laundry.

Enchanting Emerald Green Countryside and Lovely Inviting Home

At this marvelous two story super cottage, I fell in love with not only the home and grounds themselves, but the surrounding small nearby villages, each with its own charm and flavor. When at home, I could lounge and read, walk the country roads, cook or visit with any of the lovely inviting neighbors. The house is in a safe area with a huge fenced in area for kids to play. Making this remarkable property even better, There is a fundamental generosity of heart in the Hungarian soul and the neighbors constantly reached out to us with their kindness and generosity. The unit is quite well appointed, comfortable with washing machine at the ready. The kitchen too, has all the necessities although the neighboring restaurants served marvelous fare and constantly tempted me away from cooking even though there are superb markets quite nearby. Don't forget to go to at least one of Hungarirs famous spas where thermal waters soak away any left over tension from the world outside of Hungaries borders. I am embarrassed to say I made it into Budapest only twice wanting to get away from the bustle of larger cities on this tour. But Budapest is just a tempting 30 minute drive away.

Tranquil Location, Fantastic Home Base

Enjoy your morning coffee in a quiet country-like setting, then driv 45 minutes to Budapest for a day on the town. Or, explore the little villages and nearby town and their little family owned restaurants for delicious eating. This property has it all. From the location to the country charm. And, the beds are marvelously! The house is well appointed and quite comfortable. We used it as a home base to explore Hungry, Austria (Vienna is about an hour away) and the surrounding countries. It was ideal. We enjoyed everything from the castle at Tata in the next town over to the Croatian coast, a day's drive away. The place is ideal for a quiet country retreat ot a base from which to explore an area rich in history. We could not recommend it more highly.

This was a great trip!

Going to Tatabanya was the time of my life. Not to many places empress me being that i am from New York city. This place was so tranquil so refreshing to my soul that I was absolutely WOW by it. Every store is close by and the people are first class. Today I know why the President of the United States goes to Budapest! It's unbelievably beautiful...... this is a country and property is unreal. P.S. the house is gorgeous, comfortable, and very serene. The neighbors are fantastic. I've only gone back 4 times and counting because as Arnold says" i'll be back".

Hermosa casita!!

Mi familia y yo tubimos la oportunidad de hospedarnos en esta propiedad en 2014 y nuestra esperiencia fue de lo mas agradable. la cercania a los diferentes servicios disponibles y la comodidad de el lugar nos permitio tener una estadia de lo mas agradable. Definitivamente recomendamos esta propiedad a quien pase por estos rumbos tiene todo los nesesario para hacer de su estadia una ocacion memorable.

classic/enjoyable/clean

I really enjoy the feel I received from my two separate stays at this property, of course I was on vacation each time and this place just added to a great time. I don't like to stay in the big city and this place is great, its off the beaten path but easy to get to and from starting and ending each day. Tatabanya is a smaller city that has all you need as far as shopping and this city has great character and overall feel. We spent 80 % of our time in budapest but I plan on checking out this area more on my next trip. The home is in a quiet neighborhood, modern, functional and clean. The winner for me is the overall privacy and security, the yard is set up very nicely and green if you just wanted to hang out there and read and relax. So plenty of room to sleep, relax and it is a clean home in a country feel neighborhood which is quiet.

Peaceful Country Retreat

The property is situated in a peaceful 'garden area' where people plant flowers, fruit and vegetables in their long narrow plots. This attracts plenty of wildlife and the small lanes make for pleasant morning and evening strolls. This is a great area to bird watch- we even saw storks on telephone poles in a small village. The house itself is very charming with some very nice features. The washer was intriguing and not one I'd come across before, but I was impressed at how efficient it was. We stayed for 4 weeks, and found the kitchen to be well equipped since I cooked most of our meals - love the toaster oven!- and there were plenty of linens and towels. The master bedroom is very large and comfortable, though the steep, narrow stairs can be slightly worrisome during the night. Originating from the UK and speaking no Hungarian, I was pleasantly surprised to find Tesco stores in Tatabanya. The product names are in English even though the instructions etc were not. This made shopping very easy. We rented the owner's car at a very reasonable rate and his wonderful friends met us at the airport, took us grocery shopping, invited us to their house and basically became our friends. The dear neighbours were also very kind and there whenever we needed some assistance. The owner was very helpful, doing whatever he could to ensure we had a memorable stay. A big thank you to all! We would love to return to Hungary and would, without hesitation recommend the property to friends.

Lovely

Fantastic property!!! And very central for visiting, we had our 3 Springer Spaniels with us and the absolutely loved it!! They had so much space to run around in. The property itself was nice if a little dated, I loved that it was a bit rural and there was no T.V (husband was not so happy!!) the only think I was weary of was the stairs they are quite narrow!! Over all a nice place to stay

Loved it!

I stayed a month in this wonderful home with my parents and a family friend back in 2012. The home is in a very safe and lovely location. It's close to shopping centers, gas stations and the metro which is nice if you want to visit Budapest the capital. I would recommend this home to anyone and everyone and plan on going back in the near future.

Charming and Cozy

The house is just outside of town in a quiet, rural setting with cherry trees on the property. It includes amenities an American would expect, including a large indoor restroom and shower. The lower floor with kitchen, dining and living areas is charming and has ample room. The upper floor is smaller, but the bedrooms are certainly large enough; and, the view from the balcony is beautiful. Access to the highway is nearby, and it's a short drive into Budapest. I stayed several nights in this house, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Stay at Tatabanya

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at this property in July 2012. The owner was very accomodating and friendly. He helped us in every possible way with our visit to Hungary. We are from the San Francisco Bay area and found this house could easily be our second home. It is super modern and has all the amenities expected by an American. It is also located very close to the freeway and you can be in Budapest, Bratislava or Vienna in a short time. It is a beautiful quiet place and I would very much recommend staying there.
