Holiday Haus in Historic New Ulm - sleeps 8+

Our nearly 100 year old home sits on historic State Street in the center of town, just 2 blocks from the bustling downtown which includes, restaurants, boutiques, coffee, ice cream, cocktail bars, parks and much more.

Recently voted Best Place in Minnesota to Live and a Top 10 MN vacation destination, New Ulm is a quaint, charming yet vibrant gem in south central Minnesota. Home of the 2nd oldest family owned and operated brewery in the United States, Schell's. Its packed calendar of festivals make it a year-round destination.

3,200 square feet, you will love the charm of this old home including the beautiful hardwood floors and high ceilings. Please enjoy any of the FOUR great outdoor spaces available including a large front porch, a small coffee deck on the second floor, the back deck or the patio with a cozy, private fire pit. The property also has off-street parking stalls.

We are life-long residents, (or Bewohners if you sprechen sie Deutsch) of New Ulm and are close by to answer any question you may have quickly via phone, text, email or VRBO messenger.

New Ulm is well known for its Bavarian roots and it pervades almost everything. From day one, the city was designed as a free-thinking utopia filled with parks every few blocks.

New Ulm is famous for its German festivals such as Bavarian Blast (formally Heritagefest) (July), Bock Fest (March) at the mansion grounds of August Schell of Schell's beer fame, and of course, TWO full weekends of Oktoberfest (Oktober) activities. New Ulm is the host of many baseball, hockey and basketball tournaments.

Our home is just four blocks from beautiful German Park with its fountain, gardens and brand new amphitheater. It is also just 2 blocks from the Historic Turner Hall Turnverein Club complete with bar and restaurant (Rathskeller).

Our home is located almost smack in the middle of town making walking downtown a breeze (about 2 blocks). There you can find everything from live music to German restaurants (Turner Hall and Kaiserhoff), or our Glockenspiel, one of the few free-standing carillon clock towers in the world! You are also just a few blocks from Johnson Park if you want to take in a baseball game.

The property was great for our family to stay and celebrate an early Christmas with our New Ulm family. We all loved the space, the beautiful decorations, and the proximity to downtown. This was our 2nd year staying here and we will book again.

Fourth of July trip

We had a great weekend, hanging out with our family. The house was spacious and cool, a wonderful place for playing cards and visiting. The location for 4th of July events was excellent. We also swam and kayaked in Shirley Lake, listening to music in the evening.

Home away from home

Historic Charm and Fantastic location!

Great location and the house met the needs of our family of 6 adults. We loved the set up, kitchen and dining area. We all felt like there was plenty of room for everyone. It is a beautiful old house with a lot of charm. Quiet neighborhood and very friendly and welcoming owner! It was the best!

We had a family vacay (2 seniors, 3 adult children, 2 grandchildren) and the Holiday Haus was perfect for our needs. The bedrooms worked out perfectly and having three bathrooms was excellent! We loved being able to walk downtown. We ran across a Mulberry tree with actual ripe mulberries! Our 12 year old grandson was really impressed! Many games played around the large dining table, many laughs and memories made! The best family vacation and a wonderful home to spend quality time together. There was a bit of rain (mainly at night) and one of our best times was sitting on the front porch watching the lightning and listening to the thunder! Thanks for sharing your home with us!
