Beach Happy Getaway!

Newly remodeled and Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, in the Southshore area of Tampa Bay, this waterfront inn boasts beautiful views, a restaurant serving American-Caribbean fare and two pools to splash and swim in. Sunsets over the water are spectacular. Take them in by the Tiki bar with live music, from the pier, or at the onsite restaurant, Sunset Grill. You might even catch sight of a dolphin or manatee. This place is perfectly located between Tampa and Sarasota right on Tampa Bay. You'll enjoy access to a number of amenities including tennis courts, beach volleyball, 3 pools, 2 Jacuzzis, a Tiki Bar and more when you stay here! For an additional fee guests can access watersports activities, bike rentals. Hooks Restaurant offers poolside snacks, drinks and cocktails until 9:00PM. Go for a stroll through the tropical gardens or take a nap on the resort's private beach. If water sports are your thing, the resort offers a number of activities on-site including guided jet ski tours, kayaks, and paddle boating. After lounging at the beach, retreat to your air-conditioned LIVING SPACE. Curl up on the bed and enjoy your favorite shows on cable TV. In the early evening, step out onto the pier and enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful sunset. You can easily connect with friends and family back home, courtesy of the complimentary Wi-Fi.
If you feel like venturing away from the resort, we suggest day trips to visit The Dali Museum, Busch Gardens, the Tampa Zoo, the Florida Aquarium, or The Alley, a bowling alley and arcade. If you want to dance the night away, we are just 30 minutes from Ybor City nightlife and South Howard neighborhood in Tampa.
We also have children’s playground that is great for the little ones.

Birthday get away

Loved the place and amenities within the unit to use while we enjoyed our stay. Easy access. The water view was wonderful. Everything was within walking distance.

Needs Improvement

We enjoyed our stayed to certain extent, we also had stay here last year too. We weren’t happy with the sofa bed it is horrible PLEASE replace it. The couch is falling apart and horrible to sleep on. It also needs Black out curtains the lights are to bright coming from outside and hard to fall asleep. The bathroom shower head, the faucet the entire shower needs an upgrade. The shower curtains are holding on with plastic straps is just ridiculous. Upgrades will not cost you a lot but it will help you getting good reviews and happy clients. Also musty smell that didn’t go away. Hopefully we find it in better conditions next year.

Decent room for the price

I've stayed at this motel a few times for business. Its main advantage is the location—very convenient for work, with beautiful water views on both the bay and river sides of the property. The highlight is definitely the two waterfront tiki bars and the on-site restaurant, which create a relaxing atmosphere after a long day.The rooms are all about the same size—clean but dated. Some have been updated, but others are still quite old. The bathrooms in particular leave a lot to be desired: they’re small, with outdated fixtures and an awkward shower design. You can’t turn on the water without getting wet at this particular room. Be prepared—this is more of a motel setup, not a full-service hotel. There’s no coffee or breakfast provided, so plan to bring your own or go out to eat.While the nightly rate seems low, there are additional fees (like cleaning, hosting and taxes) that add up quickly. Also, be aware that bookings are non-refundable. I originally booked for three nights but only needed two due to a change in plans—and unfortunately, I had to pay for all three.Overall, if it weren't for the view and the on-site tiki bars, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. But if location and a laid-back atmosphere are your priorities, it might be worth considering—with realistic expectations.

What To Know About Our Trip

I rate the location a 5, cleanliness of the apartment a 3, and communication with the owner a 0. At the time of this review, the apartment needed some TLC. It appeared to us that there is not much care in taking care of it. There was a musty smell, not overwhelming, but noticeable. Half a shower door was glued to the bathtub which made it hard to turn on the shower. Zip ties holding up a plastic shower curtain. The drain-stop in the sink was defective and needed to be taken out which was all rusted. The rest wasn't that bad, bed was comfortable, sheets were clean, no bed bugs, no roaches or rodents, etc. There was an ironing board but no iron. I tried to contact the owner on three separate occasions using three different methods and I never heard back. We ended up buying a small iron at the nearest Publix. That added an annoying inconvenience but at least we didn't have to run around with wrinkled clothes. I did not receive check out instructions but pretty much knew the drill, take out the trash and clean up the place. Not sure why the owner never contacted us back, but it would have been nice to get some sort of heads up.

Short stay

We stayed from Sunday to Saturday! Called Manager Sunday told them shower wasn't working. Never received reply. The security light comes on at 7:00 at night and stays on till 7:30 a.m. no way to turn it off. So . Looks like the lights are on very hard to sleep! I'm a positive note. The hot tub was nice and we saw dolphins in the morning

There is no beach There is nothing close to that picture was online there is no beach access to beach at all. There is no nothing as they said or anything that’s really Close picture onlines the closed beach is 45 minutes away from this area. The shop is almost 20 minutes 30 minutes from this area the place in the middle of nowhere there is nothing really excited in the place to stay in absolutely nothing.

Very nice but some issues

There was no hot water in the shower. The knob would not turn enough to allow the water to get hot. The sofa mattress was extremely uncomfortable. Would suggest blackout curtains as the outside lights were very bright. An extra blanket would have been nice too. It was odd that there was only one shower door and it was immovable. Water got all over the floor. Also, the advertisement listed "Beach Studio Apartment" with a picture that insinuated you could step out your door and onto the beach. This was not the case. It was in fact on the intracoastal which was beautiful. The beach was within walking distance. Otherwise, the unit was clean and the area was very nice.

Ruskin Trip

Perfect for myself, my husband and our 13yo son. 2 pools and 1 hot tub that you will have access to; all nice sizes. Security makes their presence known, so you feel very safe. Sunset Grill was great!! Didn’t eat at Hooks, but did get a couple drinks. All people we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. Host was great! Shower was weird with only a half door, do water does get on floor. Easy enough to put a towel down and we moved the toilet paper to the little cabinet so it wouldn’t get wet. Also, there is only a mini fridge so be mindful of leftovers!! My only complaint is that it needs a small, full size fridge for drinks and whatnot! Oh! Also, if you are a coffee drinker, bring your own coffee pods!! Great little place!! Great little area!! Would definitely come back!!!

It was a perfect little apt. Very clean and had everything we needed supplied. The resort area it is lovely and has enough options to keep you busy. It's not far from other activities and the host was lovely. Only down side I can give is a broken sink that stayed clogging all weekend. And there was a spider issue no fault of the owner at all it Florida and bugs are a given. However somehow at least 6 were found in the bed. We had to stipe and shake out beds. I would highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be returning.
