In the heart of the Avesnois Nature Park, our house is located in a very charming little village of 150 residents. It’s close to family-friendly activities, such as nature hikes (two trails pass through the village) and bike trails. The Val Joly vacation resort—featuring a lake, water sports, restaurants, and a swimming pool—is a 10-minute drive away. It’s also 30 minutes from Lake Eau d’Heure (in Belgium), 30 minutes from the Maubeuge Zoo, 1 hour from Brussels, and 1 hour and 30 minutes from Lille.
The house is in the center of the village, on the church square, next to the castle.
It’s an old house that we’re gradually restoring. The flooring on the first floor isn’t uniform; it’s the original tile.
Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms (one with a 140x190 double bed, and the other two each with 2 90x190 single beds); each has storage space for your clothes and is equipped with sheets, comforters, and pillows. One of the bedrooms has a small desk with an armchair. A travel crib is available for your youngest child.
On the first floor, you’ll find:
- a bathroom equipped with a sink, a storage cabinet (with toiletries in case you’ve forgotten any), and a large shower. A separate toilet.
- the kitchen, equipped with a gas stove, oven, double sink, a large refrigerator, and storage cabinets. You’ll find all the cooking essentials (dishes, pans, blender, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker, traditional coffee maker, and kettle), as well as some basic pantry items (salt, pepper, oil, pasta), and a dining table. There is no dishwasher.
- The living room features a fireplace insert, sofas, a recliner, a coffee table, brochures detailing local events, and a few books. There’s a TV; you can stream content via Chromecast.
- The office, fully equipped for comfortable work, and featuring a sofa bed for an extra sleeping spot (please bring your own sheets if you plan to use this bed)
You’ll have access to a fast fiber-optic internet connection available throughout the house (except in the bathroom…)
The garden features a patio for sunny days (table, chairs, lounge chairs, and a BBQ are at your disposal), and the entire property is fenced in.
Guests will have access to the entire house except for the basement.
You’ll have the place to yourselves, but you can always reach me.
