Small Town Florida

Three bedroom, two bathrooms in this open floor plan house. Walk in showers in both bathrooms. All doorways were widened to allow room for wheelchairs, as well as the master shower. Property is fenced all the way around, will allow your dogs to visit (no cats) as well as plenty of room to park a large RV, camper, or boat. Large covered front porch to sit and watch a variety of birds and wildlife. Only minutes away from Weeki Wachee State Park as well as Homosassa Wildlife Park. About an hour north of Tampa/Busch Gardens, Clearwater/sandy white beaches, and two hours west of Orlando/everything you can think of. Homosassa and Crystal River have excellent fishing opportunities as well as swimming with manatees.

Lovely Relaxing spot

Doug and Terry were very hospitable. We enjoyed our stay very much! The place was cozy and quiet. You are close to all kinds of fun places to visit. I felt safe and at home in the mermaid shack.

Great layout and yard

Great place for pups

Great house with huge fenced in yard for your pups to run around. Loved the back and front porches for morning coffee and evening star gazing. Will definitely return during peak manatee season. Just a few mins away from the three sisters springs.

Every stay gets better.

It was our family’s 3rd time to stay at the Mermaid Shack. Terri and Doug have kept this place new ! Even though we were happy with it before , we noticed that they have put in additions and new changes to the property and home itself that made it even more comfortable to stay in . Some of our favorites were the comfortable beds , recliners, efficient washing machine , dryer and most of all , AC And in their usual fashion, our hosts, Terri and Doug continued to be very accessible if we ever needed anything.Thank you so much ! We are sure to be back again in the future

Lovely shack. Owners went above and beyond thinking of everything needed. We had a great time. Only one minor issue was a hole in the fence and the few low spots where a dog could easily jump over. Would stay again.

Great location!

This place was the definition of peaceful! We all found something that we loved about our two month stay. From the wildlife to the privacy. This location checks all those boxes. Our dogs loved the gated yard and they also go to explore all the wildlife. Communication with the owner was seamless all the way through! We would definitely stay again!

Something for everyone

Nice clean place to stay, not in the center of everything but close to everything. Relaxing front porch and shaded parking for two vehicles. The fenced yard is great if you have a dog or two. Owners are very nice and available to answer questions and solve problems. Would gladly stay there again.

Very Nice Stay at the Mermaid Shack

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mermaid Shack. Terri was a great host, keeping us informed and making sure our stay was smooth and comfortable. The family loved the house décor, which has a theme that is very fun and nicely done. The house is clean, spacious and comfortable. It had everything as advertised and more. The Mermaid Shack was very cute, decorated nicely, very clean and comfortable. Lots of outside seating if you want to enjoy nature. Located in a quiet neighborhood on acreage. There was nothing lacking. Terri was very helpful with my questions and responded very quickly. Great stay!!

Spacious 3 bedroom house in the country

Home owner wanted our family to have a great experience. She went above and beyond to buy an age appropriate game for our girls to play with during their stay and a watermelon for Memorial day. The home has been recently remodeled in a beachy/ mermaid theme which we enjoyed during our getaway to see the Weeki Wachi Mermaids and springs in the area,

Working vacation

Very quite and clean. Loved the covered porch but I would suggest a ceiling fan ( got kinda hot during the day. Dogs loved the yard but there is a piece of fencing missing on first drive side. Dog found it and the neighbor! Overall great place to stay if you're visiting Hernando/Citrus county!

Thanksgiving trip

We had a wonderful stay at this property! It is so cute and comfortable, it felt like we were in our own home. Decor is fabulous! Quiet area with lots of space to roam. Close to many activities, restaurants, and shopping. The hosts are very caring and responsive and you can tell they want their guests to enjoy their stay. Everything you could possibly need is at the property making this the perfect place to relax. Speaking of relaxing, we spent many hours on the front deck in the rocking chairs just watching the world go by. I give this property five out of five stars! You won’t be disappointed staying there!
