Karen, I sincerely apologize for your less than stellar experience. We strive to always provide nothing less than a 5 star experience. I am truly sorry we failed to do so during your stay.
I would like to respond to each of your complaints as well. I went back and reviewed the gate camera. I see you were not able to gain access for 10 min, not 30. As soon as you called, we opened the gate for you. I apologize the gate code was not in the check in instructions. The bunk beds were listed as "adult bunk beds" upon purchase. That is why we chose them. You are correct, the mattress does sit flush with the rail, as I did not want to sacrifice comfort, and go with a less plush mattress. There is a bed rail in the master closet for that reason. I am confident you saw that, as you did pull all of the linens from every linen bag in that closet. I did see stains on the pull out sofa mattress after the cover was removed. Apparently, someone had spilled something (looks like coffee, definitely not blood, as I tested w/ peroxide), and re-covered the mattress w/ the clean pad, so yes, we did miss that stain. As for the windows leaking, we had what was the worst storm of the year w/ heavy winds and rains. Several trees down in the area. Power outages, etc. As soon as we were able to check the windows we noticed a trim piece had blow off, exposing a larger problem, allowing for water to leak inside the home. We do appreciate you doing all you could to spare our floors. Instead of thanking you, I just kept apologizing for the situation, that I felt completely helpless in, given the fact we couldn't address until the rain stopped. I do thank you for all you did to help. Although, the weather was horrendous, I did have my 16 yr old son drive home from his friend's home immediately to provide you with candles, a lighter, and extras towels to contain the water. He brought towels to put on the floor, as that is what you had requested. I apologize, I misunderstood that you wanted towels to shower, and not want old towels to contain water. I was not home, but was monitoring the situation closely, and saw power was restored after a couple hours. As I explained, I did have brand new flashlights there. Unfortunately, they disappeared during a previous stay, and I didn't catch it, as a power outage is pretty rare. We checked the BBQ. It is working fine, and has a full propane tank. Maybe it wasn't working due to the high winds blowing out the flames? I apologize that you were not able to turn on the fireplace immediately. You had said you had the same one in your cabin, so I assumed you knew you had to turn the switch on. I should have started w/ step one (on switch) when trying to trouble shoot it with you. As for the smell, it will initially smell after not being used for sometime, like a heater does after firing up the first time of the season. Same concept.
Again, I of truly apologize for experience. It is not acceptable. We have addressed every concern and improved for all future stays. In fact, given the window situation, we will be doing some upgrades in the very new future. For now the windows are sealed and will not leak.
