Montazels is a charming rural village, offering access to a rich history, magnificent walks, as well as all the necessary modern services. If you feel like going out to eat, there's no shortage of options nearby. From Limoux to Quillan, there is no shortage of choices and you will be spoiled! We particularly recommend the restaurant À Table in Couiza. For history buffs, many castles await you, including the famous City of Carcassonne. For those who like to swim, the hot, natural springs of Alet and Rennes-les-Bains are ideal.
With a long tradition of producing the best wines, the area offers numerous tasting opportunities on the famous 'wine route'. The Aude is recognized as one of the healthiest departments in France where life is good; we have numerous green spaces, Mediterranean beaches and the Pyrenees mountains accessible and a 'must' in both summer and winter. Rennes-le-Château, known throughout France and well beyond is 9 minutes by car and 62 minutes on foot. It is the site of one of the greatest legends that has inspired many people at home and abroad for decades. Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code appears to be based on the site and from the Magdalena Tower, you can see Bugarach Peak, a mystical mountain and meeting point for all kinds of esoteric societies. The dinosaur museum and the Espéraza Sunday market will delight both young and old! Also don't miss the famous Chapellerie MontCapel, which continues to make hats and also serves as a venue for concerts and a host of other varied entertainments.
