A self-contained apartment located on the 2nd floor of a 16th-century castle set on an organic farm that grows olives and truffles. The 500-hectare estate, nestled in the hills above the small village of Viols-le-Fort, offers you the chance to enjoy the peace and quiet, the open space, and a superb panoramic view stretching all the way to the sea.
Just a few meters from the famous Way of St. James, the castle’s tower once served as a landmark for many pilgrims. Your vacation rental is located right next to this tower, which you can visit upon request. From the very top, you’ll enjoy an exceptional panoramic view stretching from the Mediterranean to the Pyrenees!
You can relax by the pool, play a game of pétanque, or enjoy the ping-pong and foosball tables provided, as well as the equipped playground for children.
For meals, there’s a shaded terrace at garden level with a barbecue.
If you’d like to get some exercise, you can explore over 30 km of nature trails on foot or by mountain bike within the estate, or follow the “Passa Meridiana” route, which runs right past the estate and lets you explore the marked trails from the village of Notre-Dame de Londres to the village of Saint Jean de Fos. Along the way, you might spot a squirrel, a partridge, a rabbit, or perhaps even a deer.
Four Natura 2000 sites are nearby: Pic Saint-Loup, the Hautes Garrigues du Montpelliérais, the Gorges de l’Hérault, and the Lez.
The Occitan region is home to many high-quality vineyards, which you can explore from the estate by following the Oenotour wine route, particularly around Pic Saint-Loup.
Kayaking and horseback riding are also available nearby.
Thanks to our ideal location, you can easily visit Montpellier (20 km), the historic village of St. Guilhem-le-Désert (12 km), the Clamouse Caves (12 km) or the Demoiselles Caves (24 km), Lake Salagou (29 km), the Etang de Thau (67 km), and head to the coast at La Grande Motte, Le Grau-du-Roi, or Palavas-les-Flots (about 40 minutes)…
