## Emplacement
A marked identity, a renowned seaside resort… Le Barcarès has everything to seduce. Surrounded by a pond and the sea, this strip of land was neglected until the 17th century. It was then that a fishing village settled there and a few decades later, Le Barcarès has a major fishing port, and even shipyards where the famous Catalan boat is built. In the 60s, real estate developers took over the coast and made Barcarès a famous seaside resort with the symbol of the Lydia, stranded on its beaches. This liner, now converted into a museum, disco and restaurant, is the fourth oldest existing liner in the world. The neighborhoods have a special character and you will like to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of each. From the old village to the Grande Plage, from the Lido to the Port, the atmospheres change and give a unique character to Barcarès.
