Relax & watch some Netflix while cooking dinner or get some rest up stairs on our brand new mattresses and gorgeous upholstered beds. Not the best experience

We recently stayed at this property. The house was relatively new and nice. So that's where the 2 stars come in. Check in is 4 pm and on the day we were scheduled to arrive I had to reach out asking for the code to access the property. At this time it was already almost 5 pm. I finally received the code along with the house rules. We arrived at the property and the code worked on the door and let us in. We had planned to drop off our stuff and then go with a friend out to dinner. When we attempted to lock the door to leave it would not lock nor if relocked from inside would the code then open the door. After attempting to reach the host with multiple phone calls, messages through VRBO and finally a text we received a response. We determined the issue was the batteries for the lock and the host asked us to replace the batteries, which would have been fine if there were batteries in the house to replace them with. Instead we had to send someone to go find a store to purchase batteries (no offer received to reimburse for this either). In the house rules it states that they live nearby and no offer was made to come and resolve the issue. So after we finally got the door issue resolved, the restaurant was closed and we had to settle for ordering pizza. We looked in the bathroom for towels and there were not any. After some searching, we found the towels and some bed linens in the dryer, still wet and now soured. We had to re-wash and dry towels to have for showers. Then we found garbage piled in the garage (smelly garbage), in the master bathroom top draw, someone had left trash and their false eyelashes…… In the coffee pot in the kitchen someone had failed to empty their coffee grounds and the cleaning crew obviously didn’t check it either. The grounds we a solid dry puck of mold. On our last morning there around 6:30 am the smoke detector started beeping and said FIRE, then went silent. We looked around and fortunately did not find anything that appeared to be an issue. So I would not stay at this property again as the host was slow to respond and seemed unconcerned regarding our issues.
