Cabin with two trout rivers onsite. Brevard and Pisgah National Forest close by.

PLEASE NOTE: Passenger cars are not suitable for fording the river, which is necessary to get to the cabin. You will need an SUV, Jeep or a pick-up, preferably with all-wheel or 4-wheel drive

The Dell is a 468 sq ft cabin with 1 bedroom, 1 bath and a fully equipped kitchen, with a brand new deck on the front. We called this cabin home for 12 years and now, after upgrading the kitchen and bath, our guests have been enjoying its charms, too.

We are located at 11612 East Fork Road, Brevard, NC, 28712, on a 19-acre peninsula of land between the East Fork and the French Broad Rivers. Their confluence is Mile Marker Zero for the French Broad, said to be the third oldest river in the world....not surprising since The Appalachians are the oldest mountains in the world! Both rivers offer excellent trout fishing and the French Broad Invites canoers, kayakers and tubers.

Transylvania County, NC, is known as The Land of Waterfalls with over 200 named falls, dozens of which are relatively easy to hike to. Pisgah National Forest features the Ranger and Visitor's Center, the Trout Hatchery, Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock and The Cradle of Forestry. All this is on the road that leads up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and all of its amazing views and attractions like the Devil's Courthouse, the Pisgah Inn Restaurant and Graveyard Fields. Nearby Dupont State Forest is headlined by Triple Falls and nearby Hooker Falls.

Brevard is a delightful mountain town that boasts lots of art galleries, good restaurants and a world class toy store, O.P. Taylor's. The music scene in Brevard is amazing. The Brevard Music Center hosts both their summer music camp and Mountain Song Festival, drawing students, talent and fans from all over the world. Lots of local breweries!

Asheville is home to America's castle, Biltmore House with its marvelous gardens, winery and history. Nearby Hendersonville has a nice downtown, an amazing antiques mall named Needful Things and NC's #1 rated Elijah Mountain Gem Mine.

Transylvania County is full of fun things to do, but we find that many of our guests spend most of their time enjoying the magic and peace we have right here. Come visit and find your happy place!

Carl & Lois were extremely welcoming & helpful. We arrived a little late and the check in process was still seamless. The cabin was exactly what we needed. Clean, cozy & close to all the waterfall hikes we were looking for. Driving over the river was fun too :) Thanks for a lovely stay!

Birthday Getaway

Definitely the BEST birthday mini trip. Mr. Carl and Mrs. Lois showed kindness, patience and they were very informative from the start. The cabin was clean and darlin. The river was beautiful and so peaceful to listen to. The view Bervard was such a charming town with great restaurants and stores.

Just what we needed

Attentive, welcoming and enthusiastic hosts! Such a delightful get away! Very close to hiking locations and Brevard. But we could just as easily stayed on property and enjoyed exploring. Excellent stay!

Carl and Lois were excellent hosts! The property was beautiful and there were plenty of things to see and do nearby. Carl was gracious in helping us shuttle between take in and take out points for our kayaking float on the French Broad River. We will be going back!

Wonderful place. East Fork River clear and cold. We put our chairs in the water and cooled our feet. Nice kayak ride down the French Broad River. Minutes to Brevard downtown.

Carl & Lois are incredible hosts. Besides having such a unique property with so many fishing, hiking and exploring options, they were very detailed in showing us all of the amenities of the house, as well as the property itself. Just getting into the property was so cool. To start off with a river crossing in the truck and driving through the cut tall grass to the different fishing areas and sites. That was all an adventure in itself. Made me think of Jurassic Park but without the velociraptors-haha. Had an amazing time with my adult son on this trip. Looking forward to the next time. Highly recommend. Cheers!

Rustic, quiet and cozy paradise

A beautiful well kept, historic mountain cabin. Could sleep with the windows open in the evening and listen to the sounds of nature. Carl and Lois are gracious hosts and hostess. Very knowledgeable about the history of the river and surrounding areas. Beautiful flowers and a very beautiful piece of property. Will definitely go back.

Cute, remote getaway

Wonderful getaway. Very remote--which is wonderful--but close to many of the beautiful outdoor attractions of this area. They mean it when they say you need an SUV to cross the river--no low-slung cars. But otherwise, it was great! We plan to come back!

Mountain Perfection

Lois and Carl are the epitome of perfect host! They really go the extra mile with this property to provide a native experience of everything this area has to offer. It’s a little slice of heaven that makes you want to stay and never leave. Highly recommend taking your own or renting an ATV. It made bouncing between rivers, river beaches and cabin easy and enjoyable. Fly fishing was exceptional. Looking forward to returning soon and tubing down the river!

Everything we needed!

We have stayed in a lot of places where they didn't provide anything in the way of condiments, seasoning, soaps and detergents, etc. We always have to go buy everything just for our weekend away. This place had just about everything you'd immediately need! Our hosts were friendly and helpful and full of useful and interesting information.

Great property

Cabin was perfect for 2 adults - cozy and tidy. There are no pictures of the kitchen in the listing but it is perfect - whether you are cooking all meals or just a few - even had a crock pot. Carl and Lois are great hosts. Carl even brought us the router from their home wifi when the one in the cabin was giving us problems. He also brought clean bath towels mid-week - a nice surprise, especially since the cabin has a washer and dryer. The river was very high during the week we were there. Carl let us use his truck to get back to our vehicle since we could not drive across the river. While we would stay at the cabin again, I would like to note the following, which are not clear from the listing and may influence someone's decision whether to reserve it: -- the cabin is not on the river. Fortunately, the buildings on the property are all on high ground so don't flood. If you are looking for something river front where you can hear the water while you sleep - this is not the right place. -- the trees are very grown up around the cabin. There is not a view of the river, the mountains, or anything other than Carl & Lois's house. -- the owners live right next door to the cabin. They are not intrusive at all but if you are looking for seclusion, this may not be the place for you. We hope to stay at the cabin again the next time we are in the area!

Too much to say but not enough time!! Can’t brag on Carl and Lois enough. Not too many folks make you feel like family! Great host. The cabin was flawless. Very comfortable and clean. For you fly fisherman, make sure you have a 6wt or larger. Need I say more!! Privacy at its best!! Best place we’ve been for 2 people and ready to go back soon. Refreshing

Was wonderful to sit outside on the front deck and drink coffee in the morning with perfect weather and wildlife. Had a great steak dinner on the river! We were actually sitting in the river in our chairs and it's so REFRESHING! Hated to leave but will definitely recommend and return! Thanks Carl and Lois🖤

Perfect little spot for a quick weekend getaway. We were close to tubing and the river on the property was a nice touch. Host and Hostess were very welcoming and had a vast knowledge of the area. Nice talking with them. Definitely recommend staying here. You won't regret it.

Our property is located just 5 minutes from the town of Rosman which has a nice IGA store with a first rate selection of goods. We are also just 20 minutes from downtown Brevard where you will find excellent shopping, art galleries and restaurants. There are also numerous music options like the intimate year-round venue,185 King Street, the Mountain Song Festival in September and the Brevard Music Center all summer long which attracts students and instructors from all around the world. There are also lots of local breweries to choose from.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Our property consists of a riverside field with picnic area, river access and beach, plus our little mountain where our house and the cabins are located. We are not at all far from civilization, but you really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere! The perfect spot for a restful, fun-filled vacation!
