LEGACY CREEKS RANCH CABINS

Welcome to ONE of the TWO tiny cabins we have listed on VRBO and two RV sites located at Legacy Creeks Ranch. We hope you can join us where you can enjoy what we think is a slice of heaven in our beautiful state of Montana. Located in the mountains West of Whitefish less than 30 minutes from downtown Main Street. This peaceful and serene property is near 2 mountain lakes situated on over 100 acres with 3 year round streams, 2 ponds, multiple roads and trails-all surrounded by US forest service to both the Idaho and Canadian border(s). On, from, or near our property you can enjoy an endless list of year round activities from mountain and road biking (pedal or motorized), hiking, light boating/canoeing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling , cross country skiing, hunting, fishing, etc., again, all bordered by Forest Service on 3 sides.


Our property offers a couple of different stay options with two identical tiny cabins (listed separately on this site) and two full RV sites. Our tiny cabins offer tiny living with large amenities such as full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, lounge chairs, large shower, Queen bed, and even a loft (w/Queen size air mattress) for younger guests. Each cabin has dishes, utensils, coffee pot, toaster, and electric mixer. Other features include a wood stove for when the snowflakes fall and a ceiling fan with lots of windows to catch the refreshing mountain/meadow breezes. Enjoy your time watching deer graze or fish jump from the porch or relax in a recliner with a book. If a movie sounds good at the end of the day in America’s “Last Best Place” we have wifi, a flat screen, and a Roku for you to stream a movie or countless favorite shows.


Each season will provide you with a multitude of choices so finding something to do will not be an issue. There are also many options nearby or about an hour away; Flathead and Whitefish lakes, as well as a myriad of other lakes, shopping or exploring one of the downtown areas, and of course Glacier National Park.

Amazing property and better hosts!

We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more than we did. The hosts are the most helpful and have excellent suggestions for food/activities/have to see places. They have a plethora of knowledge and are happy to help out any way we can. I couldn’t recommend a better place to stay.

Cute little place in a quiet, peaceful valley. James & Debby were great hosts, friendly and very helpful. Their dogs are fun too. If it wasn't so far for us to travel, we'd visit often.

Adorable tiny cabin

James and Debby were very attentive and made sure that all our needs were met while we were there. James even took time out of his day to take the kids (ages 12 and 9) fishing! We were very comfortable with our stay and highly recommend this cabin!

Quiet cozy cabin

James and Debby are the best! We arrived late but they made sure we got settled and had everything ready for us. The property is a bit far from town but this was a perfect spot for us - quiet and lovely scenery.

Great getaway !!

We had a wonderful time. We stayed here days 7-10 of our 10 day trip to Montana. If we had known how peaceful and nice this place was, we would have stayed here the entire time. The hosts were very accommodating and welcoming. We enjoyed feeding the fish and watching the deer every evening. We would definitely plan to stay here again.

Honeymoon Getaway💕

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and saying it was perfect doesn’t even do it justice! Both James and Debby are incredible individuals and through their passion for their property and suggestions of the area, we were able to truly appreciate the area and enjoy breathtaking sights! An absolute slice of heaven we will never forget, and can not wait to return to very soon! It is a dream come true to be able to stay in one of the cabins on this property!

Awesome place and owners. Off the beaten path, exactly what we wanted. My granddaughter fell in love with the owners dogs, who were so well behaved and visited only when we wanted them to. Wonderful place, clean cute, and very quiet and serene. You'll be guaranteed to see wildlife on the drive in to the ranch and while at the ranch.

Puppies and deer and bears, oh my

We had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer. We made great memories here and loved everything from the Big Sky, the defining quiet and all of the personal little notes left around the house . It really felt like home. James and Debby are great people and wish we could have gotten to spend more time with them. We would definitely go back to stay again.

Our stay at Legacy Creeks Ranch was one for the books! We had the most amazing time, all because of Debby and James. They made our stay incredible, their hospitality and friendliness made our trip that much better. Best Montana memories!

We chose this property based on the reviews and we were not disappointed! Yes, it was a bit out of town, but to leave the busyness and to come back to peace and quiet sitting on the porch was majestic. James and Debby were the most gracious and helpful hosts we have ever had! Everything that was recommended by them to do was spot on! I wish we could have extended our stay for longer but had to return home!

Excellent Stay

I could say a lot about our stay here, but first, thanks to the hosts for being so welcoming! The cabin is FANTASTIC! Super clean, charming little place and it’s located in a nice secluded area outside of Whitefish. Great location for star gazing and being outdoors. Surprisingly easy to get to, but one thing to make sure of is to GPS the location prior to losing service, though you’ll have WiFi at the cabin. They do a great job of helping you navigate though! Overall 10/10 what we were hoping for and would visit again.

Amazing trip! My boyfriend & I travel a lot & this is by far one of our favorite stays. James & Debby were so friendly, accommodating & gave us recommendations around the area. The cabin has everything you’ll need & more. The stars at night are unmatched, the views are beautiful on the porch, the pond in the middle is buzzin with fish. Seriously, we’ve already told our friends about this gem! Thanks James & Debby :)

What a gem!

This land is stunning and offers such a neat experience that truly shares what Montana is all about. From the way the hosts work with their land to how they’ve curated a sustainable homestead, the LCR is quite an experience. We brought our 4 year old daughter and she loved feeding the fish in the pond and playing with the two lovely labs on the property. We left feeling like we couldn’t wait to come back and spend time watching the wildlife, walking the property, gazing at the stars and enjoying the company of James & Debbie. If only there were more stars to rate this property.

Amazing place to stay!

We enjoyed our stay at Legacy Creek. James and Debbie went above and beyond to make sure all our needs were met! The place is beautiful and so quiet and relaxing. We grabbed groceries in Whitefish before going to our cabin. James and Debbie offered great places to eat and even day trip ideas after we visited Glacier National Park. Although the cabin was about 45 minutes from Whitefish the drive was well worth it just for the solitude and personal touches that the cabin had. We felt at home all week and we would highly recommend Legacy Creek to friends and family! We enjoyed seeing James place the American flag on each cabin every day in the morning and take it down each night. Keep up the routine James it meant a lot to this Mississippi Patriot family!

Quiet and comfortable

Our cabin was a great place! I didn't realize that there were two options for the cabin, one was a fishing theme and one was a farm theme. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to switch from the fishing to the farm and it was a great fit for us! We loved the farm theme! Our hosts were very easy to communicate with and were available if we had any issues. The directions to the cabin were very clear and easy to follow. The list of items in the cabin also was super helpful. It is out a ways and it is very quiet with wonderful scenery. If we are in the area again we certainly would stay here. We enjoyed reading about the history of the place and how they came to make it such a nice place to stay.

A Must Stay!

There are not enough words to describe how much we loved our stay in the Fisherman’s Cabin! James and Debby were the sweetest hosts and really took the time to ensure that we were comfortable and had everything we could possibly need during our stay. They are so personable and we absolutely loved hearing how The Legacy Creeks Ranch came to be. Even though it is listed as a “tiny” cabin, it was done to the nines with every detail in mind. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of supplies, every appliance was full sized, the bathroom was large, with ample space in both the living room and bedroom. Our favorite part was having our morning coffee on the front porch and seeing the deer roam the meadow each morning. We will certainly be returning and have already started to plan our next trip!

Warm and Welcoming

The hospitality of James and Debby are hard to come by... they continuously made sure I had everything I needed, and more. The property itself is a GEM. My only wish was that I wish I had more time to spend at it, exploring around the ranch and nearby areas. There is a beautiful creek right on the property, NUMEROUS deer, and beautiful stars at night. I enjoyed the wood burning stove so much!! The cabin is decorated so well and immediately feels 'homey'. Plenty of closet space too. Several 'little things' throughout the cabin that I really appreciated having (make up wipes, candles, an ice maker). I enjoyed hearing a little bit of the background of how they got started and how its came to be the beautiful place it is today. Exceptional hosts, welcoming, very humble, and nearby anytime you need it. I work 100% remotely off of my computer, and they had told me there is no phone service out there but that they had Starlink, and I could use that to work and do calls with Wifi Calling. This far exceeded my expectations and honestly was some of the best wifi I have ever had.. never had any issues at all. I could write a ton about this place and the hosts of it, but nothing would do it justice! I hope to be back next summer :) Kindly, Courtney

One for the memory book!

I won’t be able to say everything in this. But I’m sure going to try. My wife and I plan on retiring in Montana, so we found Legacy Creeks Ranch on Vrbo. We booked the cabin for our anniversary week. Prior to leaving Nevada, I was in contact with James and Debby via phone and Email. They were beyond helpful with the surrounding areas and recommendations. We planned to see Glacier National Park, go fishing, visit the nearest towns, and most importantly, we planned on relaxing. When we arrived at the cabin, James and Debby were both there with the warmest welcome. They explained the property, our cabin, and if we needed anything to let them know. Since we drove 16 hours in one shot, we were eager to come inside and go to bed. But we stayed up. We stayed up because of the beauty of the cabin, the decorations inside the fishing cabin, the fresh mountain air, and the views….it’s everything we wanted and more. James and Debby also made us a small cake for our anniversary! The kindness and hospitality went on each day. James gave my wife and I some local fishing areas. So my wife and I headed up to Sylvia in hopes of catching out first ever Grayling. Montana and James advice did not disappoint! My wife and I each caught 2 Graylings! It was so much fun and a great way for us to spend our anniversary. Fishing and relaxing. The wildlife is stunning also! Each night we had 5-6 whitetail deer walk past our door. They were literally 15 yards away. Being a very proud hunter, We watched them and appreciated how amazing these animals are. There are numerous fish in their pond we were able to feed and we also saw numerous elk in the areas! I can’t say enough about James and Debby. We spoke with James daily. Just to talk to someone who genuinely loves nature and cares for his guests is something you will never find in a hotel. James stopped doing his daily routine around the property and would talk with. He never made it where we had to stay and talk, he was very respectful of our space and asked if we needed anything. The hospitality was like nothing I’ve ever encountered before. We are definitely going back. No doubt! I would also like to personally thank James and Debby for everything. From the warm welcome, to the anniversary cake that was delicious!, to fishing areas, and sharing their property with us. You are both amazing people and have created the most memorable memories in my 36 years. Thank you for everything. See you again soon!

Fantastic getaway

Our family loved the cozy cabin, beautiful setting, and warm hospitality at Legacy Creeks Ranch. We cannot say enough about James and Debby’s hospitality and warmth. They made our first time to Montana a memorable experience. We hope to return again soon!

Don’t miss the stars

We were traveling from Pittsburgh to Vancouver Island and are so glad we found this Cabin and that we booked it for 3 days!! It’s near enough to Glacier which may be crowded but you get to go back to your tiny cabin and are surrounded by nature, we couldn’t believe how quiet it was and the stars were so brilliant and close it felt like you could just reach out and touch them, it was literally a canopy over us, we have never seen anything like it!!! One of the highlights of our trip! James and Debby were fantastic hosts, James was always available for any questions we had and responded quickly and Debby has the Tiny Fisherman’s cabin decorated in such a cozy way with little notes and a welcome basket with local huckleberry Jam, bread and butter ( super cute ) Oh and it was spotless!!! After being out hiking it was so nice to come back and have a cozy fire and relax. We went to the left out of the driveway and went down the road a bit and spotted a moose, and one night we were pulling into the driveway and our car lights hit the forest and we saw a bobcat (very briefly) but still exciting! We would highly recommend staying here, we hope to come back again! Thank you James and Debby for an amazing place to stay away from home!

Our favorite thing about sharing our location, is sharing the experience of this property with others. Montana is such a beautiful state and each area has it's own distinct wonders. This is why we love it when visitors enjoy the wonders of our area like when they see wildlife they have never seen before or share their star gazing experience from their evenings. Watching both adults and children wander and appreciate the many pleasures of nature that can unfold is one of the greatest pleasures we have. :)

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

The LCR is something James always dreamed of having but was not easily attained. Although it was his life-long dream, "life" through some curve balls and obstacles along his way-as it does for everyone. Thanks to a few good decisions (and lucky moves) James decided to press forward and pulled the trigger to buy this property- hence Legacy Creeks Ranch, the LCR was born. After buying the land and enlisting the help of a couple of very special friends, and his incredible wife (Debby)- the LCR started taking shape to be what it is today.
