Perfect getaway

The house was very clean and inviting. My family found it the perfect place to unwind between our son's games at Dreams Park. It was an easy, quick ride into town and the baseball fields. We loved the views, seclusion, and coziness. The pictures do not do it justice as the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedrooms all are perfect sized for a family to live in a home away from home. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Perfect stay for Cooperstown Dreams Park

15-20 min drive from the park, which is pretty close compared to some rentals for the tourney. Great little renovated house. Good AC, which was perfect for the heat wave we experienced. Great WiFi. No phone service, so WiFi was important. Very close to downtown Cooperstown. Very clear instructions. We’d definitely stay again!

Thank you for your review comments. It is nice to hear that the house suited your needs in terms of distance to the attractions, wi-fi and A/C. As mentioned in the Welcome Package, many cellphones do not work well at the house (VzW has no service; ATT and T-Mobile have some coverage outside the house but with the fiber internet, enabling wi-fi cellular calling is a good solution in addition to having a landline phone at the house).

Fantastic property near Cooperstown

We stayed at this great home while our son was playing at Cooperstown Dreams Park. I would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a quiet stay after a day of baseball or just a Cooperstown vacation. It is an easy 15 minute drive to Dreams Park and 10 minutes to downtown Cooperstown. The owner Glenn was a highly responsive host, and the home was much larger than it appeared in the photos. Very clean and comfortable home, we would definitely stay here again!

Cooperstown Getaway

This property was AMAZING. The peacefulness of the surroundings and the closness of Main St made it perfect. Its about 30 min from All Star village which was a beautiful drive. No cell service a PLUS lol if your looking to reconnect with family and really RELAX, this is house for you.

Thanks for staying at my place kicking off the 2024 summer season. I am very happy that you enjoyed the place and hope to see you again in the future. I would mention that while many cellphones do not work well in the area, one can always connect your cellphones to the wi-fi through our newly installed 1GB fiber internet and cellphones work just fine. I have been waiting for many years for this new technology to replace the former satellite tv and internet connections and I'm really glad that it is now available. But as you say, the peace and quiet does make one want to turn off the PC and the cellular devices and just relax, spend time with family, take a walk in the woods, or by the streams and the beaver dam which are on the property.

Quiet, relaxing home.

Enjoyed location. House was very comfortable and well equipped. I do recommend a fire pit and some chairs also blow dryer that is mounted to wall in bathroom. Overall we had a great time.

Thank-you very much for your suggestions. I have a portable hair dryer that I will leave in one of the bathroom vanity drawers for now. As far as a firepit is concerned, I'm not sure that would work with the existing rear deck which is small. But a couple chairs for the back deck is a wonderful idea. I have thought about a wood firepit but it would need to be placed away from the house and fire safety would need to be considered (placing it on a nonflammable base, away from any trees, and having an outside water hose nearby). I did not pursue this because of the potential liability as the weather can get very dry in the summers. In the future, if I expand the back deck, then a gas firepit (similar to the one that they have at the Otesaga Hotel in town), would be a great addition.

Baseball Tournament

Stayed here for a baseball tournament in Cooperstown. Great house, had everything we needed, especially as the weather was rainy and several games were canceled. The beds were a little hard but otherwise a great time! Would stay here again! Adding an outdoor fire pit and outdoor seating would be a nice touch!

Glad that you enjoyed your stay! I just replaced the two twin beds to upgrade from the older ones - it was time, as the old ones were stained and I wanted to keep things nice for my guests. I also put a mattress pad on top of the mattresses to provide some stain protection and a softer feel - in time, they will likely soften up a bit. While a fire pit might be desirable, I've considered one in prior years but didn't want the risk of causing a fire should the winds pick up as the weather can get to be dry during the summers. I wouldn't want to place my guests in that position. Outdoor seating is definitely on the list for next year. Some composite chairs in the back yard and on the rear deck along with an outdoor table for picnics is one of the upgrades I'm planning for next season. At long last, 1GB high speed fiber internet has become available at my place. The upgraded equipment will be installed at the end of April 2024. No more marginal wi-fi; and cellular calls may be made through the wi-fi without the satellite delays.

Quiet and spacious. Close to Cooperstown to visit Baseball Hall of Fame. Minor hiccup accessing the property as the lock box code given to me was incorrect. However, the owner responded promptly with the correct code. We stayed three nights and would stay again if the need arises.

The property owner is very cooperative and wants his guests to totally enjoy their stay. The home is very clean and has every option you could possibly want from air conditioning, outdoor grill, multiple televisions, kitchen appliances, clean and comfortable beds, kitchen appliances, etc. I give this property 5 stars. Visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame

Nice place, close to Cooperstown (~10 min). Very quiet- there are no other houses nearby. Decent size, perfect for our family of four (and could fit 6 comfortably). Has all the amenities that you'll need (although, make sure to bring your own hand soap). The majority of the house was actually very clean (table, counters, sinks, toilet), but the carpets/ floors were a little dirty (hadn't been vacuumed/ mopped). Overall, great stay!

Thanks for your feedback. I am a little surprised that you found the floors and carpets and not mopped or vacuumed as I was at the house and did a comprehensive pre-season clean just a week before. Someone had been at the house to install a smoke/combo detector and my caretaker was there to turn on the AC but otherwise, no one else would have been at the house. Still, good to know as it is possible that I might have missed some areas. I'll pass your comments along to my caretaker as well.

Cabin with hunting trophies

The cabin was clean, and somewhat updated. There were deer heads and antlers in the living spaces, that did not show on the property listing. There is no cell service at the cabin. Once my husband and children were over the fact of the lacking cell service and the extra furry friends, the stay was smooth sailing. There is a great selection of dishes and pans.

While many cellphones do not work well at the house at present, cellphone calls may be made by wifi enabling your cellphone. T-Mobile does have cellular service at the house. Some good news is on the way. Ultra high speed fiber internet is going to be available by 2024 which means no more satellite TV or satelite internet service, and cellphone calling, without the satellite delays, will be available through the unlimited wifi. stay tuned for updates.

Relaxing retreat

This was a beautiful and serene escape from a few long days. We stayed here while our son was at Cooperstown. We happened to visit the week of a heat wave. Of all the places we visited, our place was by far the coolest! Thank you for having cool A/C! Glenn was a phenomenal host. We also appreciated the book full of information, directions, etc., very thoughtful because many places do not do this. For those of you staying at Cooperstown this house is about 15-20 minutes and trust me when I say it is so worth it! We saw deer and turkey at each turn. Thank you for opening your home to us!

Great secluded location that we enjoyed between game times and days while out for dreams park tournament trip. Short 20 min drive from the parking lot to this house. No cell coverage but they do have wifi internet over satellite so if you are needing batter data or have more than one or two people on it at a time it can get a bit laggy.

I live fulltime in northern New Jersey. This property has been in my family since 1957, when my grandmother purchased it. I have been spending time up in Cooperstown all my life. Since taking over the property in 1997, I rebuilt the farmhouse (which was originally built over 150 years ago), which was a two-story summer home for the mayor of Cooperstown during the 1920's. The house has survived a couple fires since then and I am happy to say that through my efforts I have given the place a new beginning.

Being a host has become a passion for me. I have been renting out the place during the summers since 2004. Renting gives me the opportunity to keep the place up-to-date and provides vacationers the opportunity to share in a piece of American history and to take pleasure in the tranquility of the place.

I love spending time up at my place during the offseason, whether to cut firewood for the winter, to go hunting, pick wild blackberries, or to pick apples for cider in September. There is nothing as good as fresh squeezed apple cider, and the hard cider that I make isn't bad either!

Middlefield is a quaint little town just outside of Cooperstown. Having family nearby on the next farm provides another reason for me to stay connected to my family's roots. Zubowich Road was named for my late uncle, Stanley Zubowich.

My place is unique in that it has over 10,000 feet of maintained logging trails, and a beaver dam which is perfect for those who like to take nature walks.

Through my forestry management efforts as the steward of the forest, I have been taking steps to improve the biodiversity of the forest by planting white oak and black walnut seedlings. In a couple years, my plan is to graft an edible, fast-growing Chandler walnut onto the black walnut seed stocks, which will eventually yield over 200 pounds of walnuts per tree.

I began to actively manage the forest through Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) activities beginning in 2004. During 2026 the entire property will get logged, which encourages new growth by opening up the forest canopy. One day, when I pass the property on to my heirs, my goal is to leave a forest which is in better condition than when I first took it over.
