Island Getaway on BBI - Beautiful Log Home with Sandy Beachfront on Lake Huron

This gorgeous log home has a million dollar view of Gull Island and the Straits of Mackinac, located on Michigan's best kept secret; Bois Blanc Island. 3 bedroom home, 2 baths, 265' of sandy beachfront, with a private dock. A must see one of a kind experience!

Come explore Bois Blanc Island, a 45 minute ferry ride from Cheboygan Mi.

This unique log home, we call the BBI Lake Effect Lodge, is constructed of 18" logs and is magnificent to behold. The setting is very private with no nearby neighbors, yet the location is close to the Tavern, Diner, Ferry, and other attractions. A large private dock with good fishing for smallmouth bass is right out front. A campfire in the firepit is always a popular gathering spot.

The kitchen is fully stocked, just bring your own food. A washer and drier is available for use.

BBI offers many trails for hiking , 4-wheeling, and bicycle riding. Side-by-side vehicles are available for rent nearby.

Fishermen and hunters are welcome. Fish for salmon, lake trout, smallmouth bass in Lake Huron or try one of 4 large inland lakes for perch, walleye, pike, bullheads, and small mouth bass. BBI has hundreds of acres of state owned hunting land and has a plentiful deer population. BBI is also a popular destination for duck hunters.

Natural Beauty

This is an impressive log home on a secluded stretch of Lake Huron beach. We saw bald eagles every day along with a sweeping view of the lake. It is definitely a great place for a relaxing getaway.

Amazing Stay

I cannot say enough great things about this property. The house itself was very spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. It had everything you could need in terms of cooking and cleaning supplies. Everything was in perfect condition. The property was unbelievable. We spent time relaxing on the porch, watching wildlife including bald eagles every morning, we enjoyed relaxing, kayaking, and fishing. In the evenings, we enjoyed a bonfire and stargazing. It’s quiet and great location close to the ferry dock as well as to the restaurant or general store if you wanted to visit those places. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Great Location!

We loved the location, the Gull island right across from the house. Lots of wildlife to see. The property could use some minor upgrades on pans and towels, but everything has been great otherwise!

I had an amazing stay at the Lake Effect Lodge. The cabin was spotless, well-stocked, and thoughtfully prepared—it had everything I needed and then some. The setting was peaceful and secluded, the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. Bois Blanc Island itself is a hidden gem, full of natural beauty, quiet charm, and scenic trails. Robert was a great host—communicative, welcoming, and clearly cares about his guests’ experience. Two nights weren’t enough, and I’m already planning a return trip. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a relaxing escape into nature.

Beautiful house and setting.

Our whole group (ages 5-61) enjoyed being at BBI Lake Effect Lodge. Beautiful, spacious, log home in a stunning location. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand and water along the sand bar. Great fishing off the dock. Nice lakeside fire pit and plenty of seating available. 100% recommend.

Perfect getaway!

This was our 6th girls only island getaway and it was perfect. Mr. Cochran has everything you could need in the kitchen, bedroom, cleaning supplies, games, working wifi….. It was so well equipped that I took notes as host for our own rental. The 6 of us highly recommend this cottage.

Couldn't have asked for a better home to rent!!

This was an amazing house and property. Clean and had everything we needed. Was a 2 family vacation with our pets. Was very happy and would recommend this rental to anyone that wants solitude and an amazing view. The bunkhouse will forever be Hawkes own special house

Superb Cabin

A very nice getaway cabin. Quiet. Relaxing. Nicely accessorized. Great view and lake access. Beautiful property and the cabin is comfortable and very outdoor oriented. Liked the lsland in total. Friendly folks. The Outpost general store and restaurant was a nice place with great pizza.

My friends and I stayed at the property and it was awesome. There are two things that need to be improved on is the Internet and the lack of a door and he carpet in the upstairs master bedroom. My friends and I got the unfortunate timing where it was cold and rainy for most of the trip so we stayed inside for most of the time. So we ended up watching television and playing board games or card games. Thankfully at the end Saturday we were able to make it outside and grill and have a bonfire. All the rooms were nice and even the bunk house. But one thing about the bunk house it is small so if you have tall people it may be an issue. One of the rooms with the bunk beds have a very low ceiling and could be a hazard if one of the party sits up and hits their head. Thankfully the owner was quick to respond to questions or comments and even came over to give us the Roku so we could stream. I would want to come back. By the way to throw trash away on the island costs money so it might be better to bring your trash back with you.

Family Vacation

I stayed at this property with my almost 2 year old daughter, teenage stepsons, husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law. The property was beautiful! We loved that the water was mostly shallow so we didn't have to worry too much about our 2 year old getting into water over her head. BBI is a really fun island to explore. The highlight for the boys was the ATV rental day-- Robert provided contact information for ATV rentals and some other activities, which was a really nice touch. We can't wait to come back!
