L'Abbaye 1688 is not only a fully equipped furnished tourist accommodation. It is also the place to start your visit to Clermont-Ferrand by immersing yourself in the history of the city through an atypical accommodation full of history, which highlights the black volcanic stone so characteristic of the architecture of old Clermont buildings.
This characterful apartment is in fact located in the former Royal Abbey of L'Éclache, a Cistercian abbey established in Clermont-Ferrand during the second half of the 17th century, in the middle of the reign of Louis XIV. The large vaulted room occupied by the gîte is the former refectory of the sisters. This part of the abbey was built in 1688, hence the name given to the furnished accommodation.
While offering modern comfort and quality services, this place, now completely deconsecrated, has retained its authentic character through a renovation and decoration in an art-deco style, which highlights its remarkable architectural elements. The garden and arcades, with free access, allow you to project yourself 350 years back in time by finding part of the tranquility of the place, as it must have been at the time.
The accommodation is today ideally located in a very quiet and easily accessible little street in the hypercentre of Clermont. It is at a stone's throw from all the local shops, bars and restaurants and points of interest in the city centre. The bus lines and a bicycle station are less than 300 metres away. A 5-hectare public garden 150 metres away, with more than 300 trees, a rose garden and a pond. And there are plenty of parking options due to the presence of numerous parking spaces in the surrounding streets as well as an underground car park 150 metres away. You can also easily stop your vehicle in front of the apartment to unload your luggage before going to park.
The apartment, with a surface area of 70 m² for up to four people, is located in a condominium and has direct access to the shared garden. It is accessible via a few small steps. It has two bedrooms furnished with 160 cm beds with high-quality bedding, a bathroom with a separate toilet, a TV with over 200 channels, free internet access and a washing machine. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with an induction hob, oven, microwave, espresso coffee machine with unlimited beans, kettle, toaster and dishwasher.
Linen and cleaning products are provided. Cleaning is included in the service. Baby equipment (high chair, folding bed) can also be provided on request.
For the comfort of all visitors, please note that the apartment is non-smoking (but smoking is permitted in the garden) and pets are not allowed.
