We rented this house for our wedding. It was everything we could have hoped for. Beautiful yard. Very spacious. Owner was incredibly accommodating. Great place to hose a big party. I can't think of a single complaint!

Women’s Retreat

wonderful home for large gatherings

Such a lovely, clean stay for the weekend. Really convenient college reunion spot with many young families, super helpful host responded to all our messages quickly. There's so much to do in the area- lots of activities and eateries that are only a short 5 min drive (or half mile walk.) We loved that there was even NBA Jam in the corner ... lovely surprise. Would recommend and we hope to be back.

Good experience

Overall a good property for large groups. Everyone had their own bedrooms and attached bath. Communication was excellent. Older home but well maintained. We had a good time.

Sisters at heart!

We are group of 35 women who have gathered for the past 23 years to eat, drink, craft and enjoy each other. This was our first time staying here and it was perfect! Plenty of room to spread out, visit, puzzle, play games, sit in the sun and all eat together in the dining room. The rooms were plenty large to sleep 4-6 people in each one. The location was perfect…walking distance to the cute town and plenty wineries to drive to as well! And the beach was about a 5 minute drive. We will be back again next year!

Great place for an extended family stay!!

We rented this property for our extended family to attend a destination wedding. Our group of 25 enjoyed the stay and had everything we needed. The laundry “garden” room was a great place to prep for fun in the beautiful backyard. Corn hole game, food ball game, video and bocci ball set welcome! Everyone was pleased with their room. Being an “older” home, one room’s “breaker” needed to be reset but all else was perfect. John was a very responsive and communicative host. If we have the need to stay in the area again, we will definitely look at this property again!!

Fabulous place for a reunion with friends or family

Love this place. It is the second year in a row we have rented this former inn for our family reunion. Pros: * Great location near wineries, the beach and walking distance to Arroyo Grande's adorable downtown * 7 spacious bedrooms upstairs each with a private bath * 3 ground floor bedrooms - good for elderly parents * LOTS of seating in the dining room - perfect for group dinners * Three refrigerators in the kitchen * BEAUTIFUL garden, perfect for group photos * Parking for up to 10 cars Cons: * Need to plan meals carefully - only 1 small oven with 4 burners (didn't try using outside BBQ) * Limited activities for kids on-site (board games & foosball table only) * 3 adjoining ground-level bedrooms share 1 bathroom & entrance (former living area for innkeeper?) Thank you for letting us stay here! We would highly recommend this place.

Family get together

We enjoyed the stay. Some issues caused problems for us. The oven did not work properly and our host tried to get that fixed. The repair man tried to fix the issue but still did not fix properly. The kitchen is small and some problems with items like measuring cups and coffee grinder. Some bothersome sqeeky noise with our bed. A corn hull game was available but problems with bent parts and bean bags was not good, it should have been in the trash can. The sofas in the living area were of poor quality. For the money we paid for this property, I was disappointed in the property.

Anniversary Weekend Getaway

We did a weekend stay with some of our closest friends - we were a group of 30 people in total, including 2 infants. The property looked stunning in the photos when we booked it, and let me tell you that it did not disappoint in person! Despite having a fairly large group it never felt stuffy or claustrophobic because of how roomy it is. The villa is immaculately maintained and curated with all the necessary amenities available to make the stay comfortable. We were able to host a brunch and games afternoon out on the beautiful manicured lawn, and a small ceremony by the gazebo, followed by dinner and drinks in the dining area. Last but not least, John is the best host that we could’ve asked for. He is extremely helpful and accommodating. He was responsive and helped us with any questions that we had and also provided excellent recommendations on local attractions, places to rent from etc. He went above and beyond to even ship and return an item on our request, that we accidentally left behind at the property. Our friends couldn’t stop raving about the experience. Highly recommend John and his gorgeous property, and we will be sure to book it again in the future!

Large Parties Comfortable Stay

We really enjoyed our trip with 6 families, totaling 22 people. Plenty of space and beds, and the common areas were delightful. The kids (10 kids, ranging 3-9 yo) really enjoyed the fooseball machine, smart TV, arcade, & the gardens to throw frisbees (we got from local ice cream shop). Abundant & easily available parking for multiple cars, and it was very close and convenient to Trader Joe's, Vons, restaurants, and highways. Decor was lovely, and we all had plenty of space to eat, mingle, and play. The only thing we would have preferred would be a stronger dishwasher (had to pre-rinse & scrub everything), slightly hotter stove, and more utensils. We had to wash forks and spoons by hand in order to have enough for each meal, since we had so many people. It was amazing that they had 3 refrigerators! It was easy to message through the VRBO app a few times (must message rather than text) for some items when they needed quick replacement or replenishment, and the property manager was very responsive. The property manager was among the nicest and most accommodating that we have met, and he helped us through some of our technical challenges (locating the power breaker, figuring out how to lock the front door). Really, he was a pleasure to communicate with, going above and beyond. We would definitely want to come back for another stay, and we appreciate having so many rooms and beds, so that we can be together for our annual friends reunion. Don't hesitate to book!

Thanksgiving 2022

We did a destination Thanksgiving with our family. We had a large group. The rental and property was just the perfect size for everyone in our group. We even had the opportunity to take photos here. It was so beautiful!

Great for groups!

We stayed here for my son’s wedding. We had several out of town guests and hosted an outdoor picnic rehearsal dinner on the grounds. It was a beautiful backdrop for a special evening! The house had everything you needed and the host was quite helpful as I was coming from out of town. Also many of our guests said this was a great spot…everyone had a bed…no sofa pull-outs which was great! It was also nice to have a meeting spot for the groomsmen and family. Would definitely recommend for large groups!

Perfect Reunion Location

Our large family group of adults and children were comfortably accommodated in the bedroom suites. The kitchen was totally equipped for preparing meals to serve in the ample dining room. Charming outdoor area and patio allowed us to enjoy the beautiful weather. Our host, John, responded quickly to any concerns that we had and was prompt with all communications. Knowing he was concerned that we enjoy ourselves made it a pleasure to work with him. Thank you, John!

Charming home

This home is decorated so nicely. The rooms on the second and third floor are very spacious. The gardens are beautiful and ample space to sit outside. Really nice eating area for a large group. John is great to work with. Very convenient to downtown, easily walkable. Would definitely enjoy staying again.

Charming with enough space

Charming home suited well for a large group gathering. With Lots of indoor space & outdoor space we were able to do plenty of activities without needing to elsewhere. The owner was prompt with responding and very helpful when answering questions prior to arrival. We were grateful to find such a wonderful place for our Trip. Retreat stay

We stayed here for a women’s retreat and it was perfect with all the beds and bathrooms. We had a great time. It is a little close to the freeway but you can’t hear the noise from the inside. We had a restful sleep and the house was quiet and peaceful.

Great place for a large friends gathering

This house was perfect for us. The place was clean and well maintained. The garden was great for hanging out, playing lawn games, and running around with kids. The house was well stocked with activities and games for kids such as lawn games, fuzzball, and NBA Jam arcade game. Most rooms had multiple beds which was great for families with kids. Overall, we had a great time.

Family Reunion New Year's 2021

Our family enjoys getting together for New Year's each year. We sometimes have a difficult time finding just the right place to hold our reunion. The Retro English Mansion fit the bill. We were close to the beach with plenty of things to make our reunion a memorable one and had rooms, beds and bathrooms for all! The management was very helpful and quick to answer questions. Memorable Vacation

We had an amazing time here over Christmas. Its a great property - very clean and comfortable. Beds and mattresses were high quality which was important for some of our folks with bad back issues. The host was very courteous, flexible and responsive. There were a lot of games both indoors and outdoors - so the kids never got bored. The kitchen is a bit smaller but fully functional. We would love to come here again!
