Fort Morgan and Morgantown

Morgantown is a lovely, unique seaside community featuring two swimming pools, a kiddie pool, two lighted tennis/pickleball courts and several beach access boardwalks. When you first arrive, you'll notice pride of ownership in this pastel colored, beautifully landscape neighborhood. Guests really enjoy walking and biking along the quiet streets and many rent golf carts and enjoy sunset drives. If you have small children or just prefer the convenience of parking close to the beach, there is a public lot just to the west of Morgantown.

Located a scenic 15 miles from Gulf Shores, you'll find everything you need close at hand. Dollar General and Sassy Bass Market are just a few miles away and have all the basics you might need. There are several restaurants nearby offering a variety of tasty dishes. Tacky Jack's, Sassy Bass (2 locations), Coast and brand-new Jesse's (opening soon) to name a few. Some venues even offer live, local entertainment.

Fort Morgan fishing pier is now open, and anglers will have access to convenient inshore fishing and the abundant species locally available.

Be sure and visit nearby Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge with over 7,000 acres of coastal habit. You'll be able to hike through the preserve and observe local flora and fauna. There are 4 trails, varying in size and terrain, and you'll definitely want to make time to visit this natural oasis.

My family had a very relaxing week at this prPros:-I have never had a manager check in on us as much as this property. Communication was excellent and prompt. Gail was so sweet and I felt like if anything went wrong, she would take care of it. Thank you!-location is literally steps from the beach and beautiful!- the open concept floor plan on the first floor is great for a family to hang out and be together in. - it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas Cons:- you can defiantly tell this property has been “well loved”. It needs a deep clean and some cosmetic updates. A few places had mold (upstairs bathrooms and closet) - no beach chairs or umbrellas are provided, so you need to bring your own and carry them back and forth to the house each day.- the upstairs ran hot and you are asked to not cut the air lower than 72 degrees.

Start was rough but ended up ok

⸻We stayed at Silver Dunes West and while the condo itself was in a great location and had a good layout, our experience was impacted by ongoing AC issues. When we arrived, the main AC unit wasn’t working, and the repair techs told us it had already been serviced 4–5 times this season. It wasn’t fully replaced until Tuesday, which meant we spent the first few days of our vacation in 80–90 degree heat. Especially with my elderly parents with usIt was stressful We were provided with fans and a window unit when we asked, which helped a bit, but it was still uncomfortable—especially when it came to cooking meals we had planned for Sunday through Tuesday. The AC crew was in the condo all day Tuesday for the replacement, which also made that day less relaxing.The upstairs unit continued to struggle throughout the week to keep the temperature even at 75, so we hope that doesn’t become a future issue.We reached out to management and they were kind and responsive. They offered us a 330 credit, which we appreciated, but given the level of inconvenience, we felt at least full-day refund would have been more appropriate.Despite the setbacks, we made the best of our week. Hopefully the new AC unit will mean a better experience for future guest

It was in the perfect spot to just walk right out to the beach or sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view. The kitchen was well equipped, and we were even able to request a replacement coffee pot that was brought to us within 30 minutes! The July 4 fireworks were spectacular!!

Wonderful to say the least

We had a wonderful vacation at Silver Dunes. Very nice house in a great location. We had a couple of hiccups while we were there, but the management company immediately addressed them - they were absolutely wonderful.

Girls trip 2024

Location Location Location. This property is located on the beach sunrise and sunset are the best. The house is in need of a deep clean and update. The dust under the sofas and the stains on the doors needs to be addressed. The property needs to be updated. The bathrooms are dated and the toilet on the main floor was running when we got there the owners were quick to come fix it but afterwards it was hard to flush. I really enjoyed the property but not the premier property normally offered by VRBO.

I loved that we were right on the beach. It was easy to get our chairs and umbrellas down and back up each day. The beach area around us was more crowded than I like, but that was due to the size of the neighborhood.

The lower deck provides a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to the surf. We saw dolphins 🐬 every day and enjoyed the great variety of birds. Fishing just steps out the back door. This is a great house in a wonderful location. Very good communication from the care takers, no issues with anything.

Beautiful duplex for 2 families to enjoy a quiet beach

Will return. ***still highly recommend fixing the back stairs, the second step down is short and it would be VERY bad if someone got hurt on this- likely isn't up to code either. We mark it with chalk so everyone remembers to be careful.** It was also dirty this year, lots of sand in the house when we "moved in" and hair that wasn't ours. NO other complaints- we cleaned and then had a BLAST!

Plenty of room my family of 11. We visited Fort Morgan and the Zoo. We ate at Sassy Bass Amazing Grill, the food was tasty. We mostly hung out at the beach house or on the beach. The property manager introduced herself the first day never had that happen before. We had 2 hiccups that were fixed within hours. We will definitely stay here again.

The only disappointing part of our stay was many of the windows would not open. The weather was perfect to enjoy the ocean breeze and sounds, but we were unable to open many of the windows in the living room and bedrooms. I absolutely love feeling the wind and hearing the waves and was very disappointed not being able to open the windows. Other than that our stay was great.
