Bright and stylish suburban 3-bedroom, 2- bathroom (with dining room, full kitchen & large deck). 10 Beds (2 Queen Beds, 6 Twin Beds (Bunk Beds), 1 Full-Size Sofa Bed in Living Room, 1 Twin Futon in Living Room). 1 Child Pack & Play.
-Main Street- 2 blocks away w/ diverse restaurants ice cream shop, art galleries, dance studio, quaint coffee shop.
-NYC train 0.7 miles. Walmart 0.4 miles. Free street parking.
Deck available for guests with outdoors furniture.
-Sleeps 13. After 5 guests, $50 per person, per night including children & infants.

The home was as pictured, clean and comfortable. Aida is a great host, checking in to make sure we were able to work the thermostat, etc. There was a shortage of glasses and dishes for our party of 5. But this is easily remedied. The screen door to the lovely back porch needs to be replaced. But again this is minor and did not interfere with our enjoyment of this home and its location. I would happily return.

An Apartment, not a Home

First, the good things. The apartment was clean. The kitchen was big enough to cook in and a couple people could eat a meal at the small table. The living room was spacious with a minimalist style – it had three sofas, a coffee table, and very small TV. The dining room sits six. There are only three bedrooms. I guess they count the living room as a bedroom for bed count. The place was comfortable for five adults (two couples and a single). We were grateful for the full-size refrigerator, gas range, dishwasher, plates, and cookware. We made bacon and eggs a couple times. There is a drip coffee maker, blender, and microwave. We communicated with Aida, Nic’s mom, exclusively. Aida was very thorough with her texting (almost too much). She was very responsive to our texts, often answering within a couple minutes. This was good and bad because she typically expected an immediate response from us in return (if we didn’t respond immediately we often got additional texts). The bad things. I thought were getting a house vice an apartment, but this a converted split level home so the owner lives below and the apartment is above. The listing title is a bit misleading because it says home, but it is classified as an apartment. We had an incident with the owner playing a movie loudly (lots of bass) after 10pm one night but a text to Aida resulted in the volume being turned down almost immediately. There are lots of rules. We joked that there were less rules to ride on the NYC subway (and the subway has lots of rules). If you don’t see the rules listed, make sure you contact the owners to view the rules before renting. There were other quirks: the cold and hot water were swapped in the master bath and the hot water was too hot so it was possible to scald yourself. We found out the hard way that steam from the hall bath will set off the fire alarm and result in a visit from the owner. This was not our best VRBO experience but it did suit our needs for a place to lay our heads between our excursions to NYC and Madison, NJ. It was about a 20 minute drive to the Madison train station and a one hour train ride to Penn Station. There is a train station in Boonton, but it requires a transfer to get to Penn Station so it was faster for us to travel to Madison by car and go straight in. If you are just wanting to see NYC, I would pick something a little closer to one of the other train lines or splurge and stay in one of the boroughs.

Richard, We were surprised you didn't read the listing when you made the reservation. We encourage all guests to read the listing prior booking. If you don't like the house rules prior to booking it's best to not book. We carefully craft the house rules to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for all future guests and to respect the neighbors around the home. We wish you would have asked us any questions prior to booking, we are always happy to answer them beforehand to avoid any confusion. Not only do we have the house rules listed in the VRBO listing, but as a courtesy, we remind you prior to your arrival. It's confusing to see your comments about them when you consented to them more than once both prior to arrival and booking. We feel it's important to address a few inaccurate comments made about the apartment. We never made any misrepresentations about the number of bedrooms in the apartment. It's important to read the listing prior booking. The apartment is listed as a 3 bedroom apartment on the VRBO website. Two of the bedrooms have Queen beds and the third bedroom has a Twin bed. The living room has a Full-size sofa bed and a futon. (this is an extra sleep space ) but it is NOT listed as an extra bedroom. (Total sleep 8). The photos of the apartment are accurate on the VRBO listing (clearly showing the beds, sofas, etc..) We are sorry you didn't feel the TV was big enough but we do have a photo of the TV and we would have been happy to answer any questions concerning the TV size prior to booking. We take safety seriously, if the fire alarm goes off we do want to make sure you are safe and that the home will not burn down. The fire alarms work properly. We clearly lay out the NYC distance from the apartment on the VRBO listing and would have been happy to answer any of your questions prior to booking regarding distance. We have had many guests enjoy the NYC distance and many have felt it is conveniently located. We are also very responsive and attentive to our guests. We ENJOY hosting and we want to make sure you have a WONDERFUL stay! Nic and Aida :)

Hey I'm Nic and my mom Aida is helping me manage Vrbo. :) We love traveling! I’m an Entrepreneur and I would love to have you stay here and share my sweet town nicknamed “small town, big heart.” I love walking to as much as possible; I’m only three blocks from diverse restaurants, cute ice cream shops, pottery and painting stores, dance studio, and a cute coffee shop. I’m also a city girl so I love walking to the NYC train station which is less than a mile away. In case I need something, I’m grateful to have a superstore like Walmart less than half a mile away. I personally love the nearby hikes at Pyramid Mountain (7 min away by car) and love going to the Farmer’s Market and walking to Grace Lord Park and Boonton Waterfall.
