Shaker Bear guest house, nestled next to a private golf course, showcases charming post and beam construction. Situated in the heart of the Dartmouth Sunapee Lakes region, it provides easy access to Pleasant Lake, Lake Sunapee, and Little Lake Sunapee, offering abundant opportunities for swimming, hiking, and skiing. Proctor Academy, Colby Sawyer and Dartmouth College are only minutes away by car. The Country Club of NH (public course) is just 3 miles from our location. This course is ranked #2, as a classic course, in Golfweek’s annual list of public golf courses.

Inside the residence, you'll find two bedrooms – one featuring a queen bed and two twins, and the other with a king bed. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a shower/bath combo. The spacious family room is adorned with a gas fireplace, and the fully equipped kitchen ensures all your culinary needs are met. Stackable washer/dryer is available in downstairs bathroom. Keep cool on warm summer days with the provided air conditioning.

Take in the breathtaking views from the rear deck while lounging in Adirondack chairs shaded by a generous umbrella. For added relaxation, unwind in the screened porch, offering both captivating views and a comfortable retreat. The vacation home is conveniently located near private runway NH40-Eagles Nest airport. The town of New London boasts of all of the charm you would expect to see in a quaint New England college town. You will find numerous shops and restaurants, and the barn playhouse (summers only). The Shaker Bear Guest House is part of a family compound.

Our stay was perfect. The house is beautiful and even nicer than it looks in photos, so nicely decorated, comfortable and well stocked. The hosts, Tom and Kem, were incredibly warm and hospitable. They gave us local recommendations for restaurants and activities and all were great. We will absolutely stay here again on a future visit.

We had a truly wonderful stay at this lovely home in New London, NH! Tom and Kem were fantastic hosts—warm, welcoming, and couldn't have been more accommodating. The house was sparkling clean, cozy, and it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully considered to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen was so well stocked, the towels and linens were top quality, and we were touched by the sweet welcome gift waiting for us when we arrived—such a nice personal touch. We will absolutely be booking again, and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in New London. Everything about it is absolutely 5 stars! (And I'm picky.) 🥰

This was my first VRBO experience and I have to admit that I was very apprehensive, as was my sister, who is also a VRBO newbie. Upon entry we were thoroughly pleased and impressed. The decor and accommodations are very tastefully done and the home is spotless. The hosts are lovely. We’re co-ordinating our calendars for future visits and this will be our go to for hopefully many more years.

Everything previously reviewed and written about this property and hosts is 100% accurate! This cozy home away from home is beautifully appointed and maintained, kitchen and bathrooms clean and well-stocked, and the location is beyond serene. The home has lots of wonderful windows that can be opened wide to allow in lots of delicious fresh country air (we didn't want or need to turn on the A/C!), and a large back deck where you can sit and enjoy the quiet and beauty of the adjacent golf course! As of this writing, the washing machine and dryer, and dishwasher, are new and function beautifully. Hosts Kem and Tom take special pride and care in the space. What's more, they are beyond lovely, approachable, attentive, and responsive humans who are very friendly and welcoming, but at the same time very respectful of privacy. They provide a much-appreciated comprehensive "instruction sheet" and promptly answered any questions we might have had, e.g., is there a special place to put the recycling, etc. The place is a little slice of heaven and a short drive from the main drag in New London. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

We had a wonderful week in New London. The property is beautifully maintained and in a great location. It's perfect for us. The Vassalo's are gracious hosts and we've enjoyed multiple stays with them. I'd highly recommend this property to anyone looking to spend time in the New London area.

We absolutely love this property. It's in a peaceful and quiet location, it's beautifully appointed and the owners are super responsive. We have stayed here before and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing experience.

Weekend girls trip

We had a great time staying here. The rental was BEAUTIFUL and very comfortable. I actually wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the property more! Communication with the hosts was always prompt, kind, and clear, and all the directions for parking and opening doors etc. were very clear. Would definitely stay here again!

Charming and Comfortable Home near New London

We had a lovely stay at this wonderful home! The house was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Tom and Kem were gracious hosts and had spiced nuts and sangria awaiting us upon our arrival. We’ve stayed at other local lodges and Tom and Ken’s tops them all! We look forward to visiting again!
