Stonehouse es una casa privada de estilo caribeño ubicada en una propiedad frente al mar en un tranquilo vecindario residencial para caminar, justo en las áreas de vacaciones más convenientes en el East End de St. Thomas La propiedad está convenientemente ubicada a solo media milla a pie de la playa pública en Secret Harbour y el pueblo de Red Hook.

Stonehouse ofrece 3 apartamentos de alquiler de vacaciones, todos con una fantástica vista sin obstáculos de Secret Harbour y el Mar Caribe. Stonehouse es muy diferente de un condominio en el sentido de que está experimentando las islas desde un ambiente más cultural y local. Perfection!

This is a quaint property within a local neighborhood. The views were stunning especially from the deck. We loved the breeze, the convenient location and the hammock! Joanie took us grocery shopping when we arrived and was super quick to respond and accommodate our changed travel plans. And she ensured our safety notifying us of an earthquake and tsunami warning that was later cancelled. Highly recommend!

Great Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Seaglass. The combo of open air in the front room to feel the ocean breeze with A/c in the bedroom for sleep was perfect. The location is terrfic. Very convenient to Secret Harbor and Red Hook stores and restaurants. We also appreciated how well appointed Seaglass was with beach chairs, towels, and snorkeling gear.

Beautiful place, perfect location

Loved our stay. Seaglass was equipped with everything we needed and in the location we wanted to be- adjacent to Secret Harbour and everything in the east end (Red Hook, Coki, Sapphire Beach). The view from the apartment was really so pretty and we had good breezes. Appreciated the AC in the bedroom. Will likely return soon.

Best VRBO ever!!!!

When we first arrived, the property owner was there to greet us and give us an orientation of the property and area. The property was clean with a breathtaking view overlooking the water. The location of it was very hard to beat, within 5 min of almost anything you want!

5 star view /authentic sea cottage

We enjoyed our stay in this authentic beach cottage. If you are looking for 5 star luxury, this is not your place, but the views are stunning and the air flows freely off the ocean into the open air windows with hurricane shutters. The owner is very accommodating and available. There is air conditioning in the bedroom for comfortable sleeping. The closest beach ( Secret Harbour) is fabulous! Very private with a restaurant, bar, and chair rentals. Convenient location to Red Hook, Ferry to St John and Restaurants.

A Quiet Getway

Stone House is a quiet place away from all the noise and hustle of tourist areas. You have amazing views of the sea and can feel the cooling sea breeze through the property. It is a short walk down the hill to Secret Harbor and a very short trip by car to Redhook for dinner or supplies. If you want to get away and not deal with other visitors this is the place to book.

A great unit

We enjoyed our stay there, and would stay there again. A great view to the south, high on the ridge above Secret Harbor. Our hosts were very helpful, before check-in, during check-in, and as the minor questions arose during our stay. The unit was well appointed and as described in the listing. One item that may be of interest was the the knife drawer (yes, a separate drawer just for the kitchen knives) included a knife sharpener. Rare indeed!

We had the best time at Stonehouse!

Joanie is a wonderful host. Everything you could ever need for you St Thomas vacation was available at this VRBO. The view from the balcony is unbeatable, we loved to start our mornings out there drinking coffee and having breakfast. It was very lovely and clean when we arrived and Joanie was very accommodating and provided great recommendations on the island. The location is also perfect - only a 10 minute walk from Secret Harbor Beach which was one of our favorites. WE LOVED our time spent at Stonehouse (I wish we could have stayed for another 5 days!) and we will definitely be returning and recommending it to others!

Great views..perfect location..awesome hosts!

This rental has 5 stars for a reason! The unit was located in walking distance from Secret Harbour and a 5 minute drive to Red Hook. Totally romantic and stocked with everything (and more) you will need for the week. The view was incredible and the living area comfortable with breezes all day/night. It was incredibly clean as well - we did not see a bug all week - rare in the islands! Joan was great - came to check in with us after we were settled and made sure we had everything we needed. She made us feel at home! We will definitely be back!

Immediately relaxing...

Perched over Secret Harbor with a soothing view of blue water and sheltered shore and cooling winds thru the apartments wide windows, this offering by Joanie and Robert was perfect for our goal of an ocean view , uncrowded with good access to a quiet beach. Random storm damage affected us trivially- and we hope to return- many thanks to our excellent hosts with a well equipped rental.

always exceeds expectations

Joannie and Robert are gracious hosts with a lovely property and uncanny ability to anticipate any want, need or desire...every time i think "certainly they don't supply that", i open a drawer or cabinet and "there it is", like magic...super nice people with a great selection of options in terms of accommodation based on size of your group and desire to spread out...and a jaw dropping view...we will continue to patronize the great STONEHOUSE whenever lucky enough to travel to St. Thomas...many thanks guys!!!

The hidden gem

This is a spectacular place to stay! The view was gorgeous! I watched the sun rise in the indoor hammock listening to the sound of the ocean and rocking back and forth. This place has a full kitchen! It is spacious and has everything you might want or need. The host, Joanie was exceptionally accommodating and helpful! She created a book with recommendations of places to go and experiences to try. Absolutely perfect

Location, communication, and the space were all perfect. You can feel, hear, and smell the ocean feet away. The property is breezy and cool, meals were enjoyed inside the apartment and on the deck. The kitchen is perfectly equipped (to give you an idea, I made arepas and a bourguignon). Suuuuuper clean, so tastefully decorated (no clocks, which was perfect for me), Secret Harbor is so close, as is Red Hook. Parking on property was perfect. I had enough space to do yoga as well. Loved it, didn’t want to leave, and can’t wait to stay here again.

Perfect Location

We loved this little place. It is definitely small, but for a couple it is perfect. It was probably one of the cleanest places we had ever stayed. There was a nice grill out. We went to the market several times and bought fresh seafood to grill. The location is wonderful being within walking distance to Secret Harbor. Driving to all the different beaches was a must and not too far. It is a 5 minute drive to Red Hook to eat and party. The owners were very helpful with any questions and the beach chairs they gave us with the cooler were fantastic. The view was beautiful and so peaceful. I would rent again in a heartbeat!!!

Wonderful time.

We so loved our stay at Seaglass. The name inspires happiness, and that is just how we felt. It was so comfortable! We tend to be busy during the day. But every morning and evening was perfect. The view is awesome and to be able to still enjoy it in our PJ,s was great. It is so nice to have some essentials on hand and only consider those meals that you truly want to go out to eat. Definitely a respite for any vacation lifestyle ( we don't have the stamina we used to, but this location enable us to keep up with our expectations). You can't go wrong here!!!!!!

Short but lovely stay!

We totally enjoyed our stay at Stonehouse in the Seaglass apartment. The owners couldn't have been more helpful. The unit has a super view of Secret Harbour with wonderful island breezes. BR A/C is quiet for sleeping if breezes waned. Stayed only 4 nights for family wedding and busy with activities but unit is well decorated, kitchen very well equipped, appliances very clean. Beach towels and coolers provided too. Easy walk down to beach. My husband (we are both in our 70's) has trouble with his ankles so we had taxi back. Taxi was quickly available. You can tell the owners love their island. Thank you Joanie and Robert

Great location, view and value

My wife and I spent six nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Property is very clean and the owners live right next door. Secret Harbor (resort, restaurant, bar, beach) is within walking distance and it's a very short trip into Red Hook, which has restaurants, some nightlife, lots of boat charters and ferries to everywhere on the VI, including the car ferry to St. John. It's also far enough away from the cruise docks that the area is not overwhelmed with waves of visiting cruisers (a real problem in parts of St. Thomas in high season). Don't worry about the lack of A/C in the living area -- the trade winds and fans will take care of that, honestly. We were completely comfortable. Unit is very well equipped and the description/photos here are very accurate and representative of the actual unit. If we go back to St. Thomas, we'd stay here again.

Perfect for a single or couple

I booked somewhat last minute after my other accommodations fell through, and luckily they had a cancellation. I was initially concerned about the property given that it doesn't have AC in all rooms (I'm a city boy and need my AC). AC was available in the bedroom, but was unnecessary given the elevation of the property. The breezes kept the unit cool at all times, and even a bit chilly at night. The location was perfect, overlooking Secret Harbor, and in close proximity to Red Hook, where you can find plenty of restaurants/bars. Security was never an issue, and it was far enough off the main road that it was very quiet at night. The unit was impeccably maintained, and contained everything you might need for your stay (and then some). The owners were very responsive and attentive, but luckily I didn't need to bother them for any reason during my stay. My only concern would be for a larger guest, as the shower was a bit cozy. Otherwise, it was plenty of space for me. I would absolutely stay there again.

What a view!

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was clean, welcoming, and had stunning views. All the beach gear you need is provided for you to use. 10 minute walk to the beach (uphill on the way back does provide a workout). Secret harbor is the beach nearby and it's beautiful. We opted to use taxi's instead of renting a car and it was great. We figured cost wise it was probably similar, but parking is scarce and the taxi system was easy to use. One thing we would recommend is packing a suitcase full of snacks and sunscreen. Everything is very expensive, but there is a grocery store within a 3 minute taxi ride. The bedroom has an AC unit but we really didnt use it because the ocean breeze kept the apartment so pleasant. There is only one restaurant within walking distance which we tried several times for convenience sake. It was good but service was lacking. Redhook (3 minute taxi ride) has all sorts of restaurant options and is also where the ferry to st john is. Would definitely recommend this place

Great Apartment

We stayed for 5 nights in the Seaglass Apartment. The apartment was in a quiet neighborhood and it was in a great area to view Secret Harbor from the deck where we also saw rainbows two different days. The property has very pretty landscaping and we saw several hummingbirds while outside as well as the adorable geckos. We kept the windows open all the time and had a great breeze to keep things cool. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had everything available to cook meals. There were also grills available. It was nice that there was a safe available, beach chairs and coolers were provided, which we used daily. We didnt realize that the snorkeling gear was available on the other side of the property until the third day we were there, but once we found it we did use it to snorkel at several beaches. The location is close to Red Hook's restaurants, the Food Center, and the ferry dock to St. John. Joanie was welcoming and if you needed anything you just needed to send a text and she replied. I would definitely recommend staying at this apartment for anyone who has a rental car and who doesnt need to stay right on the beach!

Even better than the pictures

We had such a wonderful, relaxing time here. It’s even more gorgeous in real life if you can believe it. I can still close my eyes and hear the sounds of the ocean and feel that wonderful breeze. The location is really good - you are tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but 5 minutes away from anything you could want in the Red Hook area - groceries, restaurants, bars, shops, ferries, etc. The house feels like it truly belongs in the Caribbean - you don’t feel like you’re just staying in some hotel that could be anywhere. The extra amenities were so nice, like beach chairs, towels, and snorkeling gear that we used every day we stayed there. And Joanie even left us some lovely little snacks upon our arrival, which was so nice after a long trip. We had a couple of minor issues like the TV had lines going through it (though it was still watchable) and the bathroom door latch not working so it would get stuck if you shut the door. The hosts were prompt in communication and coming to check out the issues, and acknowledged that both things needed to be replaced. They didn’t get fixed while we were there, but it’s also important to remember that this is an island and things can take longer to replace just due to availability issues. Even with those little hiccups, it was a wonderful experience and we would be happy to stay again.

About the owner: Stay local.. Stay Stonehouse! Robert and Joanie deLugo the owners, have lived at Stonehouse since 1982 and purchased it in 1996. Robert was born on St. Thomas and met Joanie when she moved to the islands in 1981. They have been welcoming vacation travelers at Stonehouse since 2005.

Robert's family dates back many years in Virgin Islands history, his father was the first U.S. Post Master General for the Virgin Islands and the main U.S.Post Office in Charlotte Amalie, Alvaro deLugo U.S. Post Office is named after him. Joanie is originally from Canada and Cape Cod, and relocated to St. Thomas after college in Nova Scotia in 1981.

Robert and Joanie both have extensive professional backgrounds in the Virgin Islands tourism industry. Robert has worked in the Virgin Islands aviation business since the 1970's. First with a seaplane company Antilles Airboats, which was operated by the actress Maureen O'Hara and her aviator husband Charlie Blair, then with Pam Am Airways and also Delta Airlines as the V.I. Station Manager from 1994 until early retirement 2012.

Since relocating to the Virgin Islands Joanie has enjoyed many years crewing on charter yachts sailing around the British Virgin Islands, managing a marina and charter yacht center in Red Hook and 12 years as the local representative for Apple Vacations, an international travel company. When not working Joanie and Robert enjoy traveling to Chile, Argentina, Paris and Cape Cod.

They welcome you to the Virgin Islands so they can share their local expertise on some of the better things to see and do in the islands. They reside on the property and will check you in when you arrive, answer any questions and help you out with anything you need during your stay.
