Elm Street Escape- Easy Access to Alton & STL

Escape the daily madness and retreat to this perfectly remodeled historic home - situated in the middle of Upper Alton. A truly unique property, this fully updated 1920s colonial home stands out against its surroundings in a way that is both impressive and welcoming.

While the 1-acre oversized lot establishes some separation from the outside world, the central location with easy access to shopping, local colleges, and downtown STL is ideal.

The space:
The Elm Street Escape is a beautiful house built in the 1930s, and perfectly updated through the years.

Original pocket doors throughout the living and dining rooms, granite counters and new appliances in the kitchen, and a beautiful master bath with dual shower head and rainfall shower.

The option for a 4th bed is available upon request with the use of the pullout couch located in the living room. Pocket doors on both sides of the living room and a downstairs half-bath ensure complete privacy and comfort in this arrangement.

Great location!

We had a great time in Alton visiting family. We also got to visit St. Louis for part of a day and enjoy the many surrounding areas. This location was prime. Loved the house and driveway! Wish we had more time to stay and enjoy!

What a lovely house! We came to Alton for a family wedding. The house is spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need, the beds are comfortable and the back deck is lovely for relaxing after a long day.

Historic Details!

From reservation, to check in to check out Mitch was very communicative! The house was clean and ready for us and was a short drive for our wedding festivities in Florissant. Alton is a great historic town on the river with some great places to eat, antique shop and walk along the Mississippi. The home has the prettiest original woodwork, and the right modern updates. We hope to come back again.

Spacious home!

This property was perfect for our family with large bedrooms and spacious dining room / kitchen, perfect for entertaining. The living room is smaller but wasn’t an impact as we spent most of our time in the dining room gathered around the table. We loved the deck space though it needed some up keep to the yard/bushes (which was likely due to lots of rain ahead of our stay). Plenty of parking also.

Six seniors traveling for a funeral

The house was wonderful. All rooms were spacious and nicely furnished and decorated. The classic features of older houses were still functional, i.e. pocket doors! Updated kitchen and 2 1/2 bathrooms suited our needs exceptionally well. Note: The exterior grounds were in need of serious maintenance but that did not distract from our stay.

Beautiful family getaway

This is a beautiful home with large, modern kitchen, dining room and family room. The back deck overlooked a back yard with more rabbits and fireflies than we have seen in many years - the kids loved it! The bedrooms were ample,especially the master bedroom with attached bathroom and large, modern shower. The property manager provided outstanding communication and prompt replies to questions.

Time with friends

The home is very large, and beautiful. It is conveniently located where anything you need is a few minutes away. The owner was very responsive when needed but respected our privacy while at the home. The kitchen was well equipped with anything you might need and the outdoor spaces are perfect. We spent a lot of time on both the front and back decks, relaxing and talking. Hopefully we will be in the area again soon to rent this property.

Close to nowhere

Loved everything about the place, except the neighborhood. We loved watching the rabbits every night. There was a family that live on the back property, lovely to watch. It was quote, no safety issues, just not what we were expecting.

Family Healing

I rented this home for mine and my sisters family to attend my parents internment. I had no idea at the time that the home my parents first lived in when they married in 1954 was across the street! Your home was comfortable and welcoming as we gathered and told stories, relived old memories and built new ones. It was precisely what we needed!! It was enjoyable sitting on the back porch in the morning and on the front porch in the evening. Easy access to stores and activities. The beds were very comfortable and supportive. I would definitely stay here again!
