Experience the magic of the Southwest at the Desert Dome! Built in 2001 as a true labor of love by the local Chaparral community, this unique geodome is the ultimate home base for exploring southern New Mexico and West Texas—or simply unplugging under the vast desert sky.

Nestled quietly between El Paso, TX and Las Cruces, NM, you get peaceful stargazing with easy access to incredible day trips! We are perfectly positioned to explore:

National Parks & Monuments: Sled the white gypsum dunes at White Sands National Park, hike the peaks at Guadalupe Mountains National Park, explore underground caverns at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, or marvel at the vast landscapes of Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument and Prehistoric Trackways National Monument.

State Parks & Outdoor Spots: Discover world-class bouldering at Hueco Tanks State Park, hike to the historic Tin Mines Trail or Franklin Mountains State Park, or take a scenic drive to Oliver Lee State Park and City of Rocks State Park.

Charming Towns & Day Excursions: Visit historic Old Mesilla for local artisan shops and dining, head up to cool mountain pines in Cloudcroft and Ruidoso, or grab a famous green chile cheeseburger in Hatch, NM (the Chile Capital of the World!).

Open-Concept Living: Enjoy a spacious main floor with a full kitchen, dining area, a full bathroom with washer/dryer, and a relaxed living room equipped with two futons, a large reclining couch, and a Smart TV (just bring your favorite streaming logins!).

Beat the Heat: Goodbye swamp cooler, hello modern comfort! We’ve upgraded to full central A/C so you can kick back in crisp, cool air no matter how hot the desert gets outside.

Outdoor Chill Spots: Unwind around the front-yard fire pit and seating area for evening s'mores, or let your pups stretch their legs in the private back yard.

A Front-Row Night Sky Show: Located near Fort Bliss/White Sands Missile Range, you might hear occasional military training or even spot breathtaking tracer missiles falling across the night sky right from the loft window!

Pet-Friendly Living

Your furry friends are family here! We feature a built-in doggy door leading directly to the private, fully fenced back area.

Pet Guidelines: Up to 2 pets are welcome. If you leave your pet unattended, we kindly ask that they are safely secured or kenneled inside. Due to high summer heat, leaving pets unattended for long periods is strongly discouraged.

Embracing Authentic Desert Life

We want you to love the desert as much as we do, so here are a few fun "insider tips" for your stay:

Desert Flora (Goat Heads): Natural stickers and thorns are a staple of desert terrain! We highly recommend wearing sneakers or boots outdoors. Doggy booties are great for sensitive paws, though most pets handle it just fine.

Monsoon Season (June–Sept): Summer brings vibrant desert blooms, warmer temps, and quick afternoon rain. To keep curious desert flies outside where they belong, just give the front door a quick snap when coming and going!

Desert Critters: The dome is on a regular professional pest control plan! However, because we are nestled right in the high desert, an occasional curious bug might still pop in to say hello—it's just a natural part of desert living. Keeping doors closed helps keep them outside where they belong!

Security: For your peace of mind, Ring cameras are located on the exterior of the dome.
