‘The Smuggs House’ - 5 Bedroom Mountain House

The house is located next to Smuggler's Notch Ski Resort and Smugglers Notch State Park with endless x-county skiing and hiking trails. There is also great access to mountain biking and backcountry skiing. There is a large full kitchen, 2 living rooms, a game nook, and 5 bedrooms, providing a wonderful space for families and friends. The famous Notch road provides 3 season access to Stowe until it is closed in the winter when it becomes a winter wonderland for hiking, ice climbing, and skiing.

A spacious rustic ski house located a 5-minute drive from the Smuggler Notch ski parking lots. The Smuggler's notch hiking and x-country ski trails are located across the street from the house and the Smuggler's Notch disc golf course is at the end of the street. The house is shaded and remains cool in the summer and boasts large living areas on both floors providing ample space to socialize. The space is not carpeted so you may wish to bring a pair of slippers for indoors to remain cozy in the winter.

The house provides sleeping for 8 adults (4 beds) and 2 children in bunk beds. There are 2 living areas, a kids play nook, and 3 full baths (one is an ensuite in the main bedroom).

The drive to Stowe in the spring, summer, and fall is approximately 15 minutes through the Notch road (Route 108). The drive to Stowe in the winter, after the Notch road is closed, is approximately 45 minutes via Route 15.

My entire family comes to VT for Christmas necessitating a large home which I rent a different one every year. This year everyone requested we book The Smuggs House again because of how much we all loved it last year. My sister cooks elaborate dinners Christmas Eve and Christmas day and the kitchen was perfect with it's size and dual ovens. The living room has a large couch allowing ample room for all of us. The bedrooms are equally spacious. The walls have a cabin feel, the house is far off into the woods and it never stopped snowing this Christmas.Everything was perfect.

Location was perfect for what we needed and the house is one of the best vrbos I've stayed in. Plenty of everything we needed, tons of beds, kitchen was fantastic, and the trees and land around it was beautiful. Super easy to communicate with the hosts. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice property, excellent location, with plenty of room for family.Don't understand why there is no firepit outside. My grandchildren were looking forward to smores but ended up disappointed. This is Vermont after all.

Great home!

We just got home from 5 nights at this lovely property, that was originally 4. My husband and I and our two children (14/10) had MORE than enough room. We actually felt bad having rented a place with so much space for the four of us. This getaway was extremely close to smugglers notch (where we wanted to be) and had everything you could need and more. We actually never even used the lower level of the house except for get games! We wanted to disconnect from the daily chores and spend time with our kids and that’s exactly what we got. We had a great snow day, where vt easily got 19 inches. So we stayed in and played games all day and watched movies and spent the next few days on the slopes (hence the extra night). The house had more than enough of everything. Towels, trash bags, cleaning ingredients… I’ll never understand why VRBOs don’t stock cleaning items, but this one stocks all of that and MORE! If you forget hairspray it’s under the sink and all bathrooms have body soap and shampoo/conditioner. We will hopefully be back to this lovely home next year. In the meantime, thank you to Emilie and Jeff. We truly had a great time making memories at your home. If you ever want to sell it, call me! Haha

Great family ski house

This house was perfect for our two family long ski weekend at Smugglers Notch. Great set up for the kids with games and bonus room. The Host was really friendly and easy to communicate and answered our questions about things to do in the area as well. We would totally go back!

Ski trip

We had a wonderful time staying in this lovely house for our skip trip. It is spacious for our group with 6 adults and 4 kids. The kitchen and living room is so nice to cook and relax after skiing whole day. Our host is very responsive to our messages. We highly recommend this property and definitely will stay again when skiing in this area!

Everything you need and more

The property was clean and close for everything we wanted to do in smugglers and Stowe. We were visiting for a wedding and wanted to explore a little while we were there. They provided a huge list of things to do in the area, the check in process was thorough and easy as well as the checkout process. We had two little ones staying with us and they provided everything you need for young kids. The whole family was pleased with the house and we all enjoyed our stay. They truly go above and beyond to make sure you have a good time.

Family ski trip

We had a great family ski trip! The proximity to the mountain was terrific! The house was super nice with plenty of room for everyone! The kitchen and family room areas were great for cooking and relaxing after a great day on the mountain! Perfect house for the entire family! I would highly recommend it and would love to visit again!

Pictures don’t do it justice!

This was a couples trip with three pairs of us and we had the best getaway. The home honestly is way nicer than it looks in photos and we loved all the wood and the fun art decor. The size was perfect for our group and everyone loved their rooms. This kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook big group dinners and we all had lovely evenings relaxing on the couch. We had no issues with wifi, hot water, heating, etc. and it was a perfect fit for us. Thank you for the lovely stay & definitely would recommend for groups looking to stay near Smuggs!

Better than expected

the outside picture don't do this justice. I looks brand new inside and has an excellent layout. Everything seemed new. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen was the best provisioned I have ever rented. Nice hiking trails and actually walked to Smugglers Notch. The only negative was the heating was not even. It was not terrible, but some rooms were colder than others. I also wish we could have used the fireplaces, as that could have mitigated the heating issues in the basement. I would definitely recommend this unit.

Our Christmas Stay

My family and I ready loved this home. It was comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen was well appointed, roomy, and easy to get multiple people in (as happens on family vacations). The proximity to Smuggler's cannot be beat. We definitely will stay again when vacationing in this area. Highly recommend.

Spacious and relaxing home

We booked Jeffrey's ski house to stay at during our family reunion. We really enjoyed our stay. The home is large with five bedrooms and could easily accommodate our group of eight. The home was easy to access, just a couple miles off Rt108 near Smugglers Notch Resort. It also has keyless entry so we could arrive after hours without having to bother Jeffrey. Our house was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. There was also a barbeque grill which was an added bonus. The kids liked the TV / game room downstairs where they could be away from the adults. The house is set in a rural location, close to the mountains. There is a grocery store about a 10 minute drive away and some restaurants nearby. Beyond that, you're near a ski resort, disc golf course and hiking / biking trails. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay. Great rural location, clean and spacious, and quick communication with our host, Jeffrey. If you're looking for a getaway from city life, this is your place.
