Nice vintage hotel stay

This hotel has an interesting history. I was unaware it was completely under reconstruction. The noise did not affect us. The Dan was a nice find (restaurant/bar). The rooms are spacious, but missing some amenities such as extra soap, easily accessible info on the hotel and check-out time, etc. Having had vacation rentals I tend to notice these details. However, It was clean. The comfort of beds is subjective unless the mattresses are simply worn out! I did sleep well even though I thought I would not due to the firmness of the mattress. The makeshift gym area was too warm to use, but this was not the focus of our stay. Also, the walk to the parking lot can feel a little sketchy as there is a bus stop behind the hotel. I can't say I didn't feel safe, but this is a concern for some. Valet parking would be a great addition to this lovely property. I enjoyed the easy walk to the riverfront, and feel once this place is restored it will be a standout property in Tampa.

Would not stay again

Hotel inside was beautiful, parking lot in a bad area, mattress and pillows extremely uncomfortable. Going into the bathroom of room there’s a big lip where the tile meats the carpet and we both hurt our foot on it. Breakfast was terrible. Definitely not worth what I paid, and would not recommend.

Great historic hotel

Loved the hotel. It was a pleasure to stay there. The only drawback was the homeless people in Tampa.

DON’T DO IT…

Once we were given the actual address, we then realized that this VRBO is actually The Floridian Hotel. Having lived in and been visiting Tampa since 1987, alarm bells show off immediately. Apart from our room not even having a phone (we were later told my hotel staff that our VRBO hosts requested it be removed), the cleanliness of the hotel was horrible. We literally ate breakfast next to the same empty Gatorade bottle on the floor for 3 days. Of course there was also the case of the elevators breaking down and Fore and Rescue having to come to dislodge them, and then close them for 12 hours. Our interaction with our hosts had it’s bumps in the beginning, but then became non-existent. We didn’t receive our 48 hour before arriving email until I sent in a question, and we never heard from them during our stay or after. We utilize VRBO in Tampa roughly every 6 weeks, and this was by far our worst experience in years.

Old and run-down

Several years of dust on bed frame where mattress rests. Old concrete floor that is very uneven and covered in carpet. 2 small coach roaches found in bathroom. Breakfast extremely limited.

Great downtown experience!

The hotel is very unique and is located in the heart of downtown tampa seemingly within walking distance of wonderful eateries and activities in every direction. My wife loved the historic Victorian decor and chandeliers. Overall enjoyable stay!

Impressed with historical significance. You should have that type of information available in brochures or small booklet with pics in each room. Loved the details of the decor.

Summer Stay

My family came in town for a horse show. The hotel was in a great location for us. The staff was really friendly and helpful. 2 standouts for me was the bartender Sam and the cook Angie. The interior was nostalgic and beautiful. Only thing that I felt was a bit of a stretch was they say they are steps from the boardwalk. It is many steps approximately a 10 minute walk. That being said we had a fantastic experience and I would definitely stay here again and recommend staying here.
