The Hens Haven, 2 bd Broadripple Bungalow
Welcome to the Hens Haven! this classic bungalow located in SoBro does a perfect job of blending the old charm and character of an old house (yes, I have squeaky old hardwood floors, but it's worth it, I promise) with all of the modern day comforts to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the lovely front porch, or a glass of wine in the evening in the backyard with the fun and entertaining chickens. My home has been comfortably furnished with mostly "reclaimed" or hand-me-down furniture and handmade pieces, as well as fresh paint throughout, giving it a clean, simple, and relaxing feel.
My goal is to provide you with all of the comforts of home while you are traveling to help make your stay in Indianapolis grand. You will enjoy the large kitchen to prepare a quick lunch or a delicious dinner. There is a separate dining room with plenty of space for all of your guests, but you might also prefer to dine on the back patio and enjoy the yard when the weather is nice. There are two lovely bedrooms that are adorned with handmade headboards from reclaimed wood and re-purposed furniture painted with environmentally friendly chalk paint. Common living areas include the bright and cheery living room with a relaxed feel and slip covered couches, and the finished daylight basement stocked with games. There are 2 full bathrooms (one with tub shower) with all of the basic necessities provided for you. I also provide a pack n play and high chair for the convenience of those traveling with little ones. WiFi is provided so you can keep up with the day to day requirements of work.
There are Chickens at The Hens Haven! If the girls are laying, I will leave fresh eggs! Please see additional information about the chickens in my house manual!

I grew up right here in Indianapolis! I spent a few years in Charleston, SC for school and then Atlanta, GA, but found my way back to Indy! I have 2 boys (both in college - how the heck are they that old???), 3 cats, 2 bunnies, and of course, 8 chickens! Needless to say, I love animals! I love hosting because I love creating a special space for you to enjoy. It is my creative outlet in a way and it is deeply satisfying for me, to create something for others. I have been hosting one STR platforms for 9 years and have earned over 400 5 star reviews! I say this not to brag, but to show how committed I am to providing a wonderful 5 star experience for my guests! It truly is a passion of mine!

My neighborhood is commonly referred to as "SoBro" or South Broadripple. My house is tucked away on a quiet side street, but is within walking distance to all the action. I am one block away from the monon trail which is a railway converted to a exercise path that spans 27 miles and connects to other trails! I am also just 2 blocks from great restaurants like Twenty Tap for a great burger or Fat Dans for a Chicago style hotdog. Or check out Half Liter for live music and Barbecue! The Fresh Market grocery store is also just 2 blocks away!

Oh gosh! I think there are so many things that make my property unique. I think the biggest thing that makes my property unique are my backyard chickens and fresh eggs that I provide to my guests. My guests really seem to enjoy the personalities of the chickens and getting to visit them everyday. One of the things guests tend to enjoy and comment on are the original parts that have been preserved in the home, such as the original cabinetry in the kitchen and the original bathroom tile floor that adds character to the house, and yes, the squeaky original hardwood floors that you will find throughout the entire home. You will even find a hand-painted pattern on the wood floor in the kitchen that I did myself. My home is is thoughtfully appointed with convenient items such as wireless chargers, extra outlets, a fully stocked kitchen, fresh linens and fluffy towels, fast Wi-Fi and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy your stay!
