Our family of four stayed...

Our family of four stayed in this immaculate condo during Christmas week 2008. Marika greeted us upon arrival and provided us with many travel tips during our stay. The condo is within walking distance of the Acropoli metro stop. Around the corner is wonderful shopping for breads, pastries, local fruits and vegetables and a butcher shop. The condo is well equipped for cooking in if you want to enjoy the local foods. We highly recommend this condo for your stay in Athens.

We stayed in this lovely ...

We stayed in this lovely condo in Aug. 2008. It is in a great location. We walked to all the sights including the Acropolis and the Plaka area with no problems. There are also many taxis available about 1 block away. The condo was very clean, decorated in such good taste. Nice towels, good shower. The air conditioning was efficient and quiet. Safety features were wonderful. Coded locks on door to the building and coded locks on the door to the condo. Caretaker lives right across the street and was extremely helpful and friendly. Renting this condo was a wonderful experience. Linda Fink

Home away from home

The apartment was equipped with everything we needed although we didn't end up making any meals, too many delicious choices nearby. The location was perfect, close to everything but still quiet. I highly recommend staying here.

Great place and location

We were met at the property and guided through everything. Apartment was exactly as pictured. Location was great for the metro and tram line. It was so easy to get around. I would highly recommend this apartment and would gladly stay there again.

Perfect in every way

Owner Urania and her sister Merika were fantastic about communicating with us as well as with offering advice for whatever we asked about. The absolutely immaculate and well-stocked condo is just outside the Plaka area right by the Temple of Zeus, which is practically in the shadow of the Acropolis. You will be just a 5-minute walk to Plaka, but even better is the 30-second walk to a street of modest yet less touristy restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby. Also, we found it an easy 15-minute walk to deep areas of less touristy spots like the meat and vegetable markets, shops, and squares of restaurants and cafes beyond Plaka. The condo is also a very quiet place to be when you come in from the hustle bustle of lively Athens! A true oasis so close to everything!

Great location

We had a fabulous time visiting Athens with this apartment as our base. The location is great for walking to all the sites of Athens. There is a neighborhood street, one block over with restaurants, bakeries and small grocery store. The apartment had everything we needed. Marika provides a sample of Greek treats, including fresh grapes.

A wonderful experience

Urania and staff were wonderful. Apartment was clean and close to everything, just as advertised. We even had grapes, cherry tomatoes and a little bottle of Greek wine to meet us. Her tour guide recommendation s and tour guide recommendations were spot on. Just a wonderful plac.

Great appartment location

Very good location at walking distance to major attracrtions on Athènes. The appartment is well equiped and very confortable. Our host Marika was always availabe (living across the street). She even managed our return to the port.

Great Apartment to stay in Athens

We've discovered a gem when we found the Stratis apartment in Athens two years ago! We stayed there three times and love the place; it has everything we need, it's close to many attractions in central Athens (Acropolis, Syntagma Square, Plaka, Monastiraki, Stadium and many others), it's clean and comfortable. Marika is such a wonderful person in helping with anything we need! And it was such a pleasure meeting Ourania. Both great hosts! We plan to stay there every time we are in Athens!

Lovely flat in great location

This is a great flat, located on a very quiet street close to shops, cafes, public transportation and major attractions. The well kept building has a nice elevator making getting luggage upstairs easy. Includes fully equipped kitchen, great air-conditioning, loads of tourist guides, maps, etc. to make exploring Athens easy. Clearly Urania has thought of the comforts a traveler might need—loads of hangers and storage space, hairdryer, iron/ironing board, washer/dryer, power strips for all your devices, combination entry so no worry about keys. I was attending a conference at the Megaron and the flat was just two blocks from the bus stop making commuting to the conference a breeze. When not working it was just about a 7 minute walk to the Acropolis Metro station. Easy to walk to major attractions. The manager was very accommodating, providing a welcome basket of goodies and preparing the flat earlier than typical so that I could come directly from the airport. Dependable wifi. Would certainly stay here again on future trips to Athens and would recommend it to my friends.

A life long dream come true

Our dream of traveling to Greece and experiencing the culture and its history became a reality. Our stay while short ( one week), it is never long enough was accentuated by the hospitality provided by our hosts, Marika and Urania. We did not have to ask for anything more and yet always felt assured they were there watching over us as the mythical protectors of the Greek people. Incredible Condo

Everyone associated with our stay was fabulous, Urania, Marika and our driver Antonis. We had all sorts of problems with our flights and everyone was amazingly helpful and flexible so our short stay was wonderful. We would love to come back to Athens for a longer visit and stay at Urania’s condo again. Very comfortable and the location can’t be beat.

Ideal apartment close to Plaka and Acropolis

We truly enjoyed this 2 BR + 1.5 Bath apartment full of amenities (including soaps, shampoo, body wash, laundry detergent, toilet paper) which allowed our family of 4 to make our stay comfortable. Each room had their AC units- much needed in this heat. WiFi worked very well and TV had a few English channels. We appreciated the special touches like olives, crackers, tomatoes, wine and water when we arrived. The kitchen was very functional. The apartment was ideally located 5 min from entrance to Plaka and 10 min to Acropolis. Although close to a major street, the apt. was quiet and location safe. The reservation, check in and check out processes were excellent. The communication with Urania was also excellent and prompt. As suggested by others, we reserved Anthonis to pick us up at Airport- he was courteous and professional (because of this, we hired his services for our departure). We also appreciated how quickly Urania and Anthonis responded when we informed them of unexpected flight changes. Overall, excellent experience and would recommend this apartment highly.

Our Athenian Stay

It was a very pleasant stay at Athens , location being a 101% spot on! Nearby to just about everything. The owner & caretaker of the property are accommodating and very friendly & nice. The fact that the unit is probably not big enough for 4 people is maybe because all of us are big people and the bathroom cubicle was way too small for us. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay, the unit being on the first floor- accessibility is by lift and the taxis are always available right at the door step. There were two after shocks of the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that happened on 19/7 in Athens. It was happening after a very long time in Greece and it therefore shook all of them and us quite a bit! On the whole, it was a very very good stay!

Stay at Strattis

Marika was an amazing hostess. We missed one day of our stay because of our outbound flight connection from Chicago being cancelled. Location was close to the Acropolis. Very convenient location. Bathroom was a little small. Was not used to throwing toilet paper into the trash can. We felt welcomed and Marika took great care of us. The driver Thanos was there to greet us at the airport. Very pleasant and effortless experience overall. Would recommend this location and the Strattis

La qualité du logement est réelle, bien isolée et proche des commodités. Petits bémols qui coûtent une étoile: - il n'y a pas de place de parking attitrée, il faut se garer dans la rue, mais le quartier reste rassurant - la proximité avec une route très passante qui ne permet pas d'apprécier l'adorable balcon - prévoir une caution exorbitante Cela reste une très bonne adresse pour quelques jours à Athènes

This was a fabulous stay!

Urania told us that this would be a wonderful stay, and it was. It is located right by the Acropolis and we visited it and the Acropolis Museum. We had fantastic food at the nearby locations. In all, it was a delightful vacation.

The Athens experience

Owner Urania was always responsive to my questions and our host Marika was informative on the the workings of the STRATIS home as well as what to see in Athens above and beyond the Acropolis and other historical sites. Air conditioning was fantastic in home and local plakas provided short walking distance to great food and shops. In fact our walking distance to acropolis museum was only 15 minutes. For close proximity to the acropolis and other major sites this is the place to go! Love the STRATIS!

Perfect for women travelers

The property is exactly as represented on the site and in the reviews. It is a quiet and comfortable retreat within the city. What I would like to add is that The Mets is a perfect condo for women travelers, whether in a small group or alone. The area is safe to walk with small shops, pharmacy, tavernas and a coffee shop just around the corner. You can walk to the Acropolis and upscale shopping areas, or easily grab a taxi on a busy thoroughfare just a short walk down the block. We had a great time in Athens and enjoyed staying at The Mets. Side note: In the property notes, Antonis is recommended for pick-up and drop- off at the airport, I would highly recommend doing that. Great guy.

Great Central Location

This place completely met our expectations! It was close to the Acropolis and the Plaka which made every day easy to slepp in if we wanted and wander out at our leisure. The neighborhood is completely safe, just watch when you cross the road. Everything was ready for us when we arrived and we used Antonis for the airport pickup which was a very smart decision and takes the stress of landing and getting your bearings much simpler. There wasn't a single negative thing to mention about this apartment and we loved the fact that it has a neighborhood feel just around the corner if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Would definitely stay there again!

Gem of a Place

We very much enjoyed this lovely, cozy condo right in the heart of the Athens tourist area. No need for taxis, which was such a relief! Marika was very warm and welcoming and was happy to arrange our transport to the airport upon leaving. Antonis the driver was very friendly. Loved the condo...clean, well-appointed, quiet. Urania the owner was also very responsive to all my questions when we booked the property. All in all, a super choice for us! We would recommend it to anyone (except for the dates we want to come back!)

A Wonderful and Perfectly-Located Apartment in Athens

This apartment has all the modern conveniences we wanted and it is located in a neighborhood not far from the sites most visitors want to see, such as the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the Agora, and good restaurants in the Plaka neighborhood, etc. (Plaka is actually about a 10 minute walk from the apartment). An important feature for us in the apartment was the bed. It was most comfortable and provided for a good night’s sleep. The apartment is also very well maintained and furnished. Although the weather was cool for us, there are air-conditioners in each of the rooms for those very hot and humid days in Athens. A definite plus! Marika, the property manager, was very helpful and always accessible to us. She told us where to find near-by grocery stores and restaurants, suggested places to go, gave us directions and she was clear about how everything worked in the apartment. She helped make our stay enjoyable and we enjoyed a great conversation with her over a cup of coffee at a neighborhood café. When we return for another stay in Athens, this apartment will be at the top of our list.

PERFECT Athens accommodations!!!

We spent the end of April and beginning of May in Athens, and it could not have been better! The best "find" was our accommodations! What a fabulous, perfect respite in the heart of Athens! Most everything - the Acropolis and museum, most historic sites, parks, gardens, shopping, restaurants, walking routes - all easy access from this wonderful condo! We walked most everywhere, and this was the perfect location to explore it all! The Metro is close and easy to use for any "beyond" destinations too. Absolutely perfect location set in a quiet neighborhood, just off the hustle and bustle of Athens city life! Convenient, and easy walking too! The condo itself keeps Athens' beauty and elegance alive in the apartment that shares an actual archeological site exposed to appreciate and enjoy - just steps away! Everything is modern, attractive, and absolutely clean, comfortable and well stocked! Everything is easy to use, well labeled with a book that explains anything needed to understand. We don't speak or read Greek, and there was NO language problem at all! Plus there is always a live person just a phone call away for assistance. (No recordings to have to deal with!) This reassurance and meeting up with Marika to introduce and confirm everything, plus all of the most thoughtful and helpful assistance and support she provides makes this vacation spot ideal! A local market, excellent restaurant choices, and a full and complete kitchen make meals easy and "Greek good"! Eating in, picnicking or Greek gastronomic is equally easy and most enjoyable in this lovely apartment or easy venturing out in the neighborhood and beyond! Two bedrooms with comfortable beds, and plenty of natural and decorative lighting as well. Warm and cozy in the evenings, and cool enough during the more heated afternoons - excellent! Plus two bathrooms, one with the shower, are perfect and convenient too! We especially appreciated the solar water heating - it's great to experience world-wide environmental changes! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Athens - not only because of the amazing attributes of Athens, but our Athenian apartment was truly the perfect choice! My mother, siblings and children live in the northeastern part of the United States. Although we have traveled to Greece over the years, having our own home now allows us to visit several times every year. Most of our friends and family still live in our neighborhood. It could not be better!

All of us speak the Greek language and are familiar with Athens and other parts of the country. We would be happy to help where we can to make your trip more pleasurable.

'The Stratis' was built in 2005 on the property where our family first immigrated to Athens from other parts of Greece over 100 years ago. Although there were many memories made throughout the decades, we chose to re-build with all the modern conveniences so that our family and friends could enjoy our home for many more years to come.

We are located less than 30 minutes from the airport and the major ferry port, where we are able to leave for day cruises or longer. Public transportation and taxis afford us the luxury of being able to go to the local beaches and mountains for the day. There are also car rental companies within a few blocks when we want to travel through the mainland of Greece.

Our condominium becomes home base so we can visit with family and friends and still vacation. It is truly our 'home away from home!
